Shades Of Gray-Ch 19
Over the next few hours the team sat by Penelopes bedside filling her in on what had happened at the cave after she was shot, she still couldn't believe that after everything both her and her daughter were alive and safe. Derek kissed the top of her head and said, "I love you and our little Angel so much and I would have switched places with you if I could".
She reached up and caressed his cheek and whispered, "I know you would have handsome but then what would have happened to me and the baby without you"?, he blew out a deep breath and said, "I would do anything for you and the baby". Penelope said, "I know you would Derek but thankfully Danny is out of the picture so we don't have to worry about him anymore".
Dave looked at Penelope and said, "soooo kitten since you are allowed to have soft food how about we go get you some soup, maybe some jello and some chocolate ice cream"?, she licked her lips and said, "sounds good papa bear". Dave walked over and kissed the top of her head and said, "we'll be back soon".
Fran looked at Derek and said, "we'll get you something to eat to baby boy", he nodded his head and said, "sounds good ma, thank you", he looked up at the rest of his family and said, "thank you all so much for everything you've done to help us". Fran kissed the top of his head and said, "I love you and you are my baby boy so of course I will do anything I can for you and the rest of our family".
Penelope smiled and winked at Derek as the rest of their family headed out of the room, leaving them alone, she patted the bed and said, "come lay with me, I've missed you by my side". He toed off his shoes and gently climbed in bed beside her and wrapped his arm around her.
He then kissed the top of her head and said, "I love you so much", she smiled and said, "and I love you", Derek sighed and said, "how about we watch the video of our daughter again"?, she nodded her head and said, "sounds good". He pulled his cell out and pulled up the video footage and laid there with his arms wrapped lovingly around her as they watched the video of him and their daughter that was taken hours earlier.
They were still wrapped in each others arms when their family came back about 45 minutes later, Dave walked over and said, "soup, jello or ice cream kitten"? she bit down on her bottom lip and said, "all of it". He laughed and said, "that's my girl" as he put it all down on the table in front of her and handed her a spoon.
Fran placed Dereks food on the table and said, "here you go honey, now I want you to eat all of that because you haven't been eating much over the past few days". Penelope looked at Derek and said, "eat up my love", he kissed her lips and said, "anything for you goddess".
The family sat there laughing and talking while they watched Derek and Penelope eat their first meal together in almost a week.
