Shades Of Gray-Ch 21
Over the next several weeks both Penelope and baby Angela grew stronger and soon they were given the amazing news that they had longed to hear, news that baby Angela was getting to go home. Even though Penelope had been released a few weeks earlier she rarely left the hospital.
When the team, minus Derek and Penelope of course were gone away on cases she would use her computer that she kept by her side to help her favorite heroes fight the baddies. The team was currently on a few weeks stand down time so they had planned a welcome home party for their newest member.
Derek leaned down and kissed his wife on the lips and said, "I love you beautiful", he then kissed the top of his daughters head and said, "and daddy loves you to sweetheart". The nurse walked in and said, "alright Derek if you want to go ahead and take Angela and her things to the car, we will be right behind you".
Penelope said, "is something wrong Sheila"?, the nurse smiled and said, "no mam, it's just that we all chipped in and got Angela something",. Derek took the baby from Penelopes arms and put her in her car seat and said, "here you go princess, let's get you and your things to the car while mommy gets your gift".
Sheila said ,"we hope you like it", Penelope pulled the top off of the box and said, "ohhhhh Sheila it's gorgeous", Sheila said, "we saw it on line and we knew that we had to get if for her". In Penelopes hands was a hand made quilt that had Angels floating on clouds and they had Angela Francine Morgan monogrammed on the top of the beautiful blanket.
Penelope hugged her and said, "awwww thank you so much, it's gorgeous, we'll put it in her nursery", as they walked out into the hall she hugged nurse after nurse as they made their way toward the elevator. Once the doors opened she stepped inside and said, "thank you all so much for everything you've done for me and my daughter, you will forever be in my heart, thoughts and prayers".
Before the doors closed they all smiled and blew her kisses and one nurse, an older lady smiled and said, "enjoy this time honey, they grow up before you know it". Penelope nodded her head and said, "I know, I know" and as the elevator doors closed she was still waving at the amazing people that helped save not only her but her daughter from certain death.
When she walked out the front door of the hospital Derek was pulled around waiting, she opened the door and said, "is everything okay with our princess"?, Derek said, "she's tucked in and sleeping like the little angel she is".
Penelope smiled and said, "you should see the blanket the nurses all chipped in and got Angela", she then opened the box and pulled it out. Derek said, "that is gorgeous, awwwww and they have her name on it, now that's so sweet", she nodded her head and said, "those are some amazing people at that hospital", Derek said, "that they are baby girl, that they are".
He watched as his wife buckled her seatbelt, he then put the SUV in gear and pulled away from their home away from home for the past several weeks. The ride home didn't take long and soon they were pulling up at casa Morgan.
Derek got the car seat out of the SUV and said, "we'll get the stuff out later, right now let's go and enjoy some family time with our girl", Penelope nodded her head yes in agreement as they made their way inside with Angela.
As they stepped through the front door they smiled as they saw the banner hanging that said, "WELCOME HOME ANGELA FRANCINE MORGAN". Penelope said, "awwwwww, thanks you guys, thank you so much".
Reid walked over and hugged Penelope and took the box out of her hands and Penelope said, "you really need to look at that, it's a gift from the nurses at the hospital", Reid put the box down and removed the lid and pulled the blanket out and as everybody looked at it their "awwwws" and "how beautifuls" filled the room.
Fran said, "alright let's get the baby situated in her swing and then we'll eat dinner together as a family", Penelope grinned and nodded her head yes in agreement. They all stood watching as Derek carefully got their daughter out of her car seat and put her into her swing.
He hit a button and then stood grinning as the baby started slowly swinging from side to side, Penelope held out her hand and said, "come on handsome, let's eat, this momma is starving". Fran said, "you can see her from the table, we made sure to move the swing".
Derek slid his hand in Penelopes and grinned lovingly as they followed their family to the table, after enjoying a delicious meal they spent the next several hours laughing, talking and spending time with their newest addition, the amazing little girl that had stolen all of their hearts.
