Shades Of Gray-Ch 22
As Penelope sat and talked to the women she told them of the first time she was allowed to hold her daughter, she talked of the fear, the joy, the pride. Fran reached up and wiped away the tears that slid down her own cheeks as she listened to her daughter-in-law talk.
She sighed and said, "I felt so calm, so peaceful but at the same time I was so scared, what if my touch hurt her, what if my touch slowed her healing". JJ put her hand on Penelopes arm and said, "but it didn't, your her mother and she felt your love through your touch", Penelope nodded her head yes in agreement as she allowed the tears to slid down her cheek.
Derek looked at his wife and smiled, she had been through so much with the kidnapping and adding to that getting hurt and going into premature labor. The delivery of their daughter over 6 week early was hard and he had almost lost them both but thankfully he hadn't".
Dave put his hand on Dereks shoulder and said, "she's so good with Angela", Derek said, "it's been like that since the first time she was able to hold her". Hotch said, "their is something special about a mothers love, I've never seen anything stronger".
Derek blew out a deep breath and ran his hand over his head and said, "I could have lost them both", Reid said, "but you didn't, your wife and child are both fine, they are both right over there". Derek said, "my entire world is in this house, Penelope, Angela and the rest of you guys are my life, my world and I don't know what I would do without you, without any of you".
Dave grinned and said, "you're not getting rid of any of us any time soon son and that I can promise you" and Derek smiled lovingly at the man he's come to accept as his step father. The men stood talking for a few minutes before the families started heading out one family at a time.
When it was down to only Derek, Penelope and Angela in the house Derek kissed his wife on the lips and said, "why don't you take her on up and get her settled and I'll lock up down here". She smiled and said, "alright my love", she then headed toward the stairs with her daughter in her arms.
Derek locked up and set the alarm before turning the lights off and heading upstairs to join his wife, when he got to the doorway of the nursery he stopped. He couldn't help but smile as he saw his wife holding their daughter in her arms, she was humming to her as she laid her down in her crib.
He stood watching for a few minutes, just watching how lovingly she handled Angela, how gentle her touch was, how she easily laid her down and covered her up with her blanket. She stood watching her daughter for a few minutes before turning around and walking back over to rejoin her husband./div
Derek intertwined fingers with his wife and said, "come Mrs. Morgan, it's time for us to get some sleep, it's been a love few weeks and I know that you are exhausted". She nodded her head yes in agreement and said, "sleep sounds good hotstuff, sleep sounds good".
A few minutes later they were cuddled together in their bed and Derek kissed her lips and whispered, "I love you baby girl", she smiled and said, "and I love you handsome". He then rested his cheek on the top of her head and closed his eyes and a few minutes later the room was filled with the sounds of their soft snores as they both drifted off to sleep after an exhausting few weeks.
