Shades Of Gray-Ch 22

Penelope was still home on maternity leave when the team had been suddenly sent away on a bad case, JJ and Emilys baby sitters were unavailable so she offered to watch 6 year old Jack and 4 year old Henry. while they were away. Fran happily agreed to stay with her, she knew that Penelope had her hands full with her little girl and this would get her a chance to spoil Jack and Henry some more.

Jack and Henry were currently watching a movie and eating their lunch and Angela was peacefully sleeping in her swing while her nana Fran sat on the couch watching the trio. Penelope was in her home office working on back ground information on the latest victims.

This unsub was a real sickko, he was kidnapping young pregnant women and cutting their babies out of them and then torturing the mothers to death. He was then selling the babies on the black market, he had already killed 10 women and had kidnapped 3 other women.

As her fingers flew over her keyboard she hoped that she would be able to find the information her team of crime fighters needed in order to bring this unsub to his knees. She was sitting there waiting on a response from her searches and rubbing her temples as memories from her kidnapping came back to her mind with a vengeance.

She could see herself being in that cave, she could see her captor pacing back and forth, she then flashes to Derek and the others being there with her. Another memory of her getting hurt and collapsing fills her mind, she is then pulled from her memories as her babies ping letting her know that they have some information for her.

Penelope scrolls through the information and says, "hmmm, this is hinky", she did another search and said, "you little bast" and then picked up her cell and hit number 2 and after a few rings she heard her handsome husbands voice saying, "please tell me you have something goddess".

She said, "ohhhh I do, I did some searches and did a few deep dives and found out that all of our victims have one thing in common". Derek said, "and what thing is that"?, Penelope said, "they were all impregnated with artificial insemination at the same clinic".

Derek said, "can you send us" and she said, "it's already been sent handsome", he said, "you're amazing baby girl", she said, "awwww angel fish you're just saying that cause it's true". He laughed and said, "how's everything going"?, she said, "the boys are watching a movie with Fran and Angela is sleeping in her swing".

She said, "be careful my love", he said, "always goddess, always", after the call ended she got up and headed back through the house to check on the kiddos and Fran. When she walked into the room Fran looked up and said, "how's the team doing"?, Penelope said, "I sent them some information and hopefully it will be enough to help them catch the freak and get our family back home and soon".

A couple of hours later while she was feeding Angela her cell rang, she picked it up from the table and said, "please tell me you caught him"?, Derek said, "ohhhh we did baby girl and we are wheels up so we should be home in a few hours", she sighed happily and said, "good, we've missed you".

Derek said, "and we've missed you", Penelope said, "your mom is outside with the boys, they are playing with Mudgie and Clooney right now". He smiled and said, "how's our angel doing"?, Penelope said, "she's eating as we speak and she's as precious as ever" causing Derek to laugh and say, "I never had a doubt gorgeous, never had a doubt".

They talked for a few more minutes before the call ended, she then burped Angela and then put her sleeping daughter down in her portable crib before heading outside to fill Fran and the boys in on the information that the team was on their way home.

When the boys found out their mommies and daddies were on the way home they were so happy, Fran smiled and said, "good, they've been gone for almost 2 weeks". Penelope said, "well they should be here in a few hours", Henry said, "I've missed momma and daddy", Jack said, "me toooooooooo" as they started chasing the dogs around the yard again.

Penelope and Fran were watching the boys and Angela when the team walked through her front door, Henry and Jack ran over to their parents and wrapped their arms around them and said in unison, "I misseded youuuuuuuu" causing their parents to smile and say, "we missed you too".

Derek walked in and kissed his wife on the lips gently and said, "ohhhh how I've missed you", he then kissed his daughter on the forehead and said, "and I've missed you to little girl". He picked her up and said, "daddy has definitely missed his little princess".

For the next few minutes the family laughed, talked and got caught up with Penelope before they all decided to head back to their homes for the first time in almost 2 weeks. Fran and Dave then left a few minutes later leaving Derek, Penelope and Angela alone.

Derek said, "I don't know about you baby girl but I'm exhausted", she me too handsome, me too, soooooo how about you take our daughter upstairs and get her settled in for the night and I'll lock up down here and then be right up"?, he kissed her on the lips and said, "see you in a few beautiful", she grinned and said, "that you will" as she watched him start for the stairs.

When she walked upstairs a few minutes later she found her daughter sleeping peacefully, so she walked over to her room and stooped in the door as she saw her husband. He had gotten under the covers and was peacefully sleeping, she walked over and leaned down and kissed his forehead and said, "sleep well my love, sleep well".

She then changed into her gown and crawled in bed behind him, she smiled as she cuddled close to him, she had missed this, she had missed being this close to him. He had been gone for almost 2 weeks and ohhhhh how she had missed him.

It was only a matter of a couple of minutes before she soon joined Derek in sleep.
