Chapter 6
Tyler quietly exited Castle's penthouse. As he exited the building, he walked down the sidewalk. A masked person followed him from behind and into Central Park. Tyler stopped at the middle of the bridge.
"I knew you'd follow me," Tyler said without turning around. "Am I your next bounty?"
"You're family never was," the masked person replied, her voice revealing to be a woman. "I didn't mean to kill your brother. He looked similar to another boy I was sent to kill. I'll always remember that as my one mistake."
"No," Tyler said, turning around. "You're mistake was confessing to me."
"You're wearing a wire, aren't you?" the masked woman asked, taking out a gun. "Stupid man!"
"No he isn't," Beckett said, walking over to them from behind the masked woman, pointing her gun. "But I am."
Ryan and Esposito walked onto the bridge from behind Tyler, pointing their guns as well.
"And so are we," Esposito said.
"Drop the gun," Beckett said.
Later at the station, Tyler and Castle watched as Beckett interrogated the woman.
"What is your name?" Beckett asked.
The woman stayed silent.
"What is your name?" Beckett repeated.
"Virginia," the woman replied. "Virginia Madison."
"Virginia Madison?" Beckett asked. "That's your name?"
"Yes," Virginia replied.
"You're wanted for over twenty murders," Beckett said. "But one in particular is Kyle Hunter."
"Yes," Virginia replied. "But he was not my intended target."
"Who was?" Beckett asked.
"Another young boy named Henry Young," Virginia replied. "He looked similar to Kyle."
"Who hired you?" Beckett asked.
Virginia smiled and Beckett looked to see her hand handcuffed to a chair.
"Rule number one of being a police officer," Virginia said. "Always pay attention to your handcuffs!"
Virginia ran out of the interrogation room. Castle and Tyler ran out of the observation room after her.
"Come back here!" Tyler shouted.
Virginia grabbed a gun from a desk and pointed it at Castle and Tyler. She quickly realized the gun had no bullets.
"Damn it!" Virginia shouted.
"Please!" Tyler shouted. "Just tell me who hired you!"
Tyler and Castle heard a gunshot and Virginia fell to the floor, dead from a gunshot to the back of the head. A male police officer stood there holding a gun.
"Are you okay?" the officer asked.
"No!" Tyler screamed.
Tyler fell to the floor sobbing and Castle got down on the floor beside.
"Hey," Castle said softly. "It's okay."
"No it's not!" Tyler sobbed. "The gun wasn't even loaded!"
Castle put his hand on Tyler's shoulder.
"She was going to tell me who hired her!" Tyler sobbed.
Tyler sobbed louder and Castle held him tightly.
"It's okay," Castle said softly. "It's all going to be okay."
"Nothing will ever be okay again!" Tyler sobbed.
Castle continued to hold Tyler tightly as he let out loud sobs.
"It's okay," Castle continued softly. "It's okay."
