Ravens Flight

When the Letter arrived notifying the family of the impending trial many things flashed through the minds of the parents. Rage being one of them. As far as they could see it, this was a personal attack on their family. The girl had been attacked by soul-sucking monsters while not knowing any magic. She had then been saved by unknown means, which scared the Potters. Only for the Ministry to try and attack them through the "legal" means.

They could only assume this was the minister being a child and trying to get some form of revenge on James Jr delivering such a massive blow to his reputation during the Tri wizard tournament. So when the time came and they were in the court they could only watch as they were not allowed to take their seat in the Wizengamot, This rule had been made to stop people from protecting family members from being punished, by being protected by a member of the family on the Wizengamot.

Therefore sitting in the viewing area, the Potters watched as young Iris was placed in a seat on the podium before the highest legislative body in the country. The girl had no idea why she was here, all she knew was that some tall monsters had attacked her a few days ago. So when the man standing behind the podium started barking questions at her she was on the verge of tears. She was scared, she did not know what was going on.

It was then that a smooth and silky voice rang out from within the room, a voice that echoed off of the walls making it sound as if it was everywhere and nowhere. "Well minister Fudge, you have just proven how incompetent you truly are." the voice causing the minister's face to turn into an ugly shade of red with a mix of rage and embarrassment.

Out of a shadowy corner walked out the woman that had been summoned by the Order. The Potter patriarch could only watch as the woman stalked forwards in her unique armor, her long hair flowing. The woman was literally covered in weapons, but she always seemed to have her hand near or on the hilt of her sword, almost as if it was a part of her.

The creepy white mask was still in place, the red tribal markings pained on it to enhance its intimidation factor, those red eyes piercing the souls of those the woman looked at. All in all that was a woman that James would be glad not to be on the bad side of. She was not an academic like Lily nor a perfect pureblood wife like his mother, this woman was a warrior through and through.

xxxxx

"How dare you say such a thing to the minister!" screeched the horrible monstrosity that took up the position of the senior undersecretary for the minister, Dolores Umbridge. A woman that most would be glad to see gone. Those piercing red eyes so clear yet hidden behind the mask snapped towards Umbridge causing her next statement to come out as a squeak, as it got caught in her thought.

"I dare because In this session alone he has not followed the traditions for opening a session, but has also usurped the authority of the chief warlock." came the woman's calm reply. It took a couple of seconds for James to think about it, but what she said was true, Fudge had not officially opened the session with the traditional openings thus the magic had not triggered, meaning all rulings were null and void.

He had also taken the podium from the start without leave from Dumbledore who was sitting in the viewing seats and thus had been usurped meaning the minister had, in essence, attempted to commit a coup of power. James could only shake his head at Fudge's doing something so stupid, even if no one noticed the magic would and the ramifications for it would have been painful, to say the least.

xxxxx

The sounds of unhappy murmuring coming from the assembled lords in the gallery suggested that they too were less than amused with the man trying to pull a fast one over them. It also suggested that there would likely be repercussions for attempting to do so, something that Fudge had noticed as he attempted to shift the focus of thought away from him and onto anything else, but before he could, the woman spoke again.

"Furthermore he has brought this child before you all on her first charge, well since he wants a trial I shall testify for her." the woman declared shocking the hall into silence.

Everything that had been running through everyone's mind before had been erased, This enigma of a woman who had appeared out of nowhere had just declared that she would testify for the girl. Why? What could this person know about the incident? These and other questions went thought people's heads at a record pace.

xxxxx

Fudge doing the only thing he could do, in an attempt to save his already dead carrier as the Minister of Magic. "Please state your name, for the record." at this Albus Dumbledore hid a smile as the chief warlock he needed to know the magic-infused into the wards and traditions surrounding such meetings. One of them was to protect the authenticity of claims made to any name, and a claim to a house-made on record is enforced by magic. Therefore if a person is attempting to falsify claims then magic itself will punish them for attempted line theft.

The reason most people did not know about this was due to a wizards creating what was now known as a proxy. In essence, they created the ability to send someone as a representative in the lord's place to enact their will, this however completely bypassed the magic that checked the authenticity, and thus it was forgotten. Albus, however, had never been happier with the bumbling fool as he had just triggered the old magic and one of his problems would now be answered. Who was it that had been summoned instead of Raven Potter?

xxxxx

Everyone was looking at the woman in the center of the room, as she stood tall and proud, glaring, and daring all comers. Then with a breath, she announced herself "My name is Raven Branwen, I am the matriarch of the most ancient and Royal house of Le fay" proclaimed the woman.

As the words echoed through the hall, one of three very special chairs lit up, the emblem emblazoned on it glowing showing the activation of the house it was attached to. The house of Le fay had officially returned to the public light shocking the entire hall. The house of Le fay was one of three Royal houses, It along with the Emrys and Pendragon had enough authority to essentially rule the government on their own, so it was not surprising that all of the lords in the room were holding their breaths to see what this mysterious woman would do.

xxxxx

It was then that a voice cut through the deafening silence from the public viewing area. Albus was as shocked as anyone in the room but with his years of experience, he had managed to pull himself together quickly. He needed to find a way to talk to the woman, to negotiate with her but for now one problem at a time.

"Alright, Lady Le Fay," He said in his most cordial and Grandfatherly voice trying to make her at ease. A tactic that has worked on generations of young witches and wizards. A tactic that helped to portray him as the kind and helpful old grandfather figure. Someone who's always happy to help. "You would testify for the child? If you would please?" he said motioning for her to continue drawing out a low grumble of whispered conversation from within the room.

Xxxxx

James was in a sense of shock, the house of Le fay had returned? There was no way of knowing how things could turn out with this. At least it appeared that the Matriarch seemed to be here to help his little girl. So he watched as the woman who was still masked, as no one had managed to pluck up the nerve to ask that she reveal her face started her story about the events that took place.

"Very well. I was in the area for my own reasons, when I saw two demons, dementors I believe you call them" the woman began shocking James. She had been within the wards without him knowing! He would, should have gotten an alert about their being someone unknown being within the boundary just like when the Dementors did. This was worrying.

"Large Black cloaks, scabby, greying dead skin." yep that was a good description of the monsters James mentally agreed as he listened. "They were approaching the child." She said as she motioned towards Iris who was shivering at the memory that had resurfaced at the description of the creatures. "I could not allow that, so as the Child fell into unconsciousness, I killed them with Omen." She said as she tapped the hilt of the sword strapped to her waist. This caused a round of muttering as far as anyone knew it was impossible to kill a Dementor, yet here was a woman standing there claiming she had done so as if it was a daily occurrence!

The woman then looked directly into the minister's eyes, piercing right into his soul. "Now the question is what were two such beasts, beasts that are supposedly under your control minister doing at a place that they have no right to be?" the implied questions that the woman did not ask were obvious to all in the room. As she had all but accused the ministry of attempted assassination.

James had never seen someone back pedal as fast as fudge had at that moment. Promises of investigations and inquires to find the perpetrators of such heinous acts against upstanding members of the community. The trial was thrown out immediately if one was to look at the Lady Le fay you could see that she was radiating physical disgust at what was happening before her. Not that he could blame her. It was only that he wanted to see her reaction that he caught her turning around and leaving without a single word.

Xxxxx

Albus knew that the new Lady le fay would be a powerful player in the coming war. He could feel the power, that the woman somehow kept restrained. Then there was the unknown magic that she seemed to know. He could not allow them to be uncontrolled that would be dangerous, not to him of course as he had experience in such matters but to someone as young as this lady Le fay, no it would be better to be in the hands of the elders.

So gathering the order who came to support the potters in this time of need they made their way through the labyrinthine maze that was the ministry to try and make their way to the Atrium before the Le Fay made it there.

It did not take long to arrive in the Atrium and using his political position to connect to the wards of the ministry, he was notified that his quarry was on a lift down and would arrive momentarily. So having the children, both potters, miss Granger, and the Weasley brood move out of the way The order prepared for the confrontation.

Xxxxx

James Jr watched the order prepare for the woman who had held his sister at knifepoint. He did not know what to feel about said woman, true she had threatened his sister which made him angry with her but iris had told him what she had said to her about just wanting to be safe. Then she came and helped Iris in the trial. So yes very confused. The lift doors opened and the woman only took two steps when she felt the energy of the anti apparition wards envelop her.

James could see her hand twitching towards her weapon, an instinct by the looks of it like his dad and playing with a snitch when nervous. It made him wonder what kind of person had an instinct reaction to reach for a sword?

The Order had her surrounded, while not in a threatening manner, she was still surrounded and stopped from leaving. It was then that Le fay Spoke her silky voice now a Growl as she demanded: "Why have I been detained like some sort of Criminal?" The tone was so cold that James could feel it.

It was at this point that he watched the headmaster try to talk to the woman, in what James was sure was his patented "Grandfather voice." A tone that he used to set people at ease. The tone he used as a headmaster to guide young minds. "Now my dear there is no need for hostility." Said the headmaster his eyes twinkling as he spoke to Lady Le fay in the hopes of negotiating with her.

Xxxxx

Raven already greatly disliked this Albus character. His treatment of those around him as children, even when they were adults irked her to no end. His pacifism angered her. But it was his manipulations that truly enraged her. Both him and Ozpin where manipulators at least she could respect Ozpin for being willing to fight. This Dumbledore seemed to avoid it at all costs.

She could not help but wonder just how many people had died due to this man's weak constitution and quite frankly idiotic hypocritical ideals. His weak will and inability to do what one must. So when he said there was no need for violence, when he had clearly set up an ambush and prepared for violence she could not hold herself back.

Xxxxx

Lily watched as those sharp red eyes flashed towards Albus, and the girl said something that she had not expected. She thought this woman was here to help but that was blown right out of the water when she heard what the woman said: "Speak to me like that again and you will be holding your head within your arm." Causing a ripple of shock around the people, It did not help that she had gripped her blade to emphasize the threat. It was at this point that the unexpected happened when Lady Le Fay was focused purely on Albus and everyone else on her for any aggressive moves. No one noticed the actions of one person.

Xxxxx

Ronald Weasley's youngest son of the Weasley family. Brother to five talented brothers and one sister as such it was not uncommon for him to be overlooked. His one claim to fame was that he had been the friend of the boy who lived James jr. Well he had until the tri wizard tournament, he had not believed that James had been entered against his will. As such he had been included in the group that James was angry at for their behavior towards him.

He had been ordered to come to the trial as a 'show of solidarity' his mother said. Personally, Ron didn't care he came for the chance to get back into the good graces with James. There was also the chance that If they find his twin he might be able to get a contract with her, she was a potter after all.

His dreams aside he watched as the Order set up their plan and could only be confused. Why do they even want this Le fay person? Wasn't Morganna a Dark witch? Why do they want a dark family in the order?

As he watched he saw the masked girl walk and saw the inspiring presence of the headmaster begin to exert his influence upon the room. Ronald could not help but be amazed at the ease that the headmaster took control of such situations, of course, the woman would be coming to the light now, he assured himself.

So when he saw the woman grip her sword and threaten to cut the headmasters head off, shock, that was what ran through Ronald. Shock closely followed by rage. How dare this person say such a thing to the headmaster. So without even thinking, on pure reflex, he cast the first spell that came to mind 'Stupefy'.

In most situations, Raven would have been at an advantage, her training, and skills allowing her to both dodge, withstand and attack multiple opponents with ease. This comes from her ability to detect someone's intent to attack or killing intent.

Unfortunately for someone as well trained as Raven, the old saying about the world's best swordsman worrying about the worst is true. All of her highly tuned senses and instincts where caught completely off guard by someone who had never been in combat. Had no intent to kill. As the only combat spells they knew could incapacitate so there was no killing intent to warn of an incoming attack. And with her usually keen senses distracted with the cordon, the spell slipped past and hit her mask knocking her off Ballance forcing her to the side as it fell off.

Her long luxuriant hair fell over her face, covering her head shielding her from view as she recovered from the blow. Silence filled the hall as no one expected something like this to happen. But it had.

Xxxxx

Albus was a bit shaken at the response to his comment. He had expected a more open reaction to him. She had after all come to Iris aid. Surely that meant that the girl was a member of the light despite what appearances might depict, heck she even admitted to being able to kill demons. True he was put off by the weapons she was carrying he would need to do something about that. It was too dangerous to be carrying such things.

It was then that the spell hit the mask, knocking her off balance, the mask landing a small distance away. Her long black hair hanging over her face hiding her from view. He watched as she seemed to gather herself from the hit. The shock of the unexpected blow. She then reached out with her hand toward the surprisingly undamaged mask.

Watching as she checked it over for any damage before she clipped it to her belt, Albus made no moves to interrupt her. He wanted to give her the appearance of him being the benevolent Grandfather figure that he was to the people of the community. Hopefully, he could convince the girl to join him.

He watched as she stood up straight and then when she threw her head back, standing tall and proud her hair landing back into place, it revealed something he wished it had not.

There standing before him was an older version of Iris Potter. There were differences of course. While Iris had red hair this woman had onyx black, while Iris had straight hair, The Potter curse had come in In force in Le Fay giving a 'Plumage' effect in her hair. But the most surprising of all were her eyes. Those Crimson eyes that pierced the soul.

Albus Cursed in his mind as the realization came to him with all of the subtlety of a freight train, Raven Branwen, Lady Le Fay was Raven Potter and he had no idea what to do about it.

It was later that night that the order had gathered once again at Grimmauld palace, to discuss the discoveries of the day. A sense of shock and awe had settled over the room as they settled in for the meeting.

"Welcome everyone" began Albus as he addressed everyone in the room. With his usual pleasant tone of voice, however, the scowls on the faces that were present and showed that this was not the time for small talk.

"Our first order of business is that the ministry failed in their unlawful attempt to sanction young Iris." This got some smiles, as no one had been happy about the girl being the center of what was, in essence, a revenge scheme by the petty childish Minister.

"She was saved by none other than the person who we summoned a few days ago." Albus informed the members who had not been able to attend for their various reasons. This caused several of them to look shocked. And surprised but the headmaster just waved for them all to settle down. Before he waved over to James to take up where he left confusing many.

"As the headmaster said, the person summoned aided Iris in the Trial, and we gained a name 'Raven Branwen' however thanks to an incident when the headmaster was attempting to talk to her the mask she was wearing was knocked off and we got a view at her face." explained the Potter patriarch before taking a breath to steady himself.

"the woman looks almost identical to Iris, just older." This caused an uproar. The children who had been there in the Atrium had not been able to get a good view of her but to hear this was shocking.

James fired off a noisemaker to get a semblance of order back. " I had to do some checking, so I went to the old family tapestry, It uses blood magic, tracing the family via blood links." this got a nod from those who understood, but some were confused, wasn't blood magic illegal?

"I do not go to the tapestry room, I avoid it actually, so when I went in I saw three new names." this confused them all. What did he mean three?

"The first was Raven Branwen. This name was where Raven Potter was supposed to be." He said with a resigned sigh. He had just confirmed that the woman they had summoned was who they thought she was, his daughter.

It was James Jr who asked the question that was on all of their minds.

"who were the other names?" the Potter patriarch looked at his wife knowing this would be a shock to her. So with a sigh, he decided to bite the bullet, as the Muggles say. "The first was Summer Branwen nee Rose."

James had at least managed to time it right so that he could get Sirius to do a spit-take, as no one was expecting this. "James are you saying that our daughter is married!?" lily asked slightly shaken only to receive a nod.

"And that she married a woman!?" He nodded again. There were looks of shock around the room at this revelation.

It was Granger who spoke though "how can that be, she should not be able to, she is not of age in either muggle nor the magical world!" she exclaimed in confusion.

"I don't know, but I can take a guess at why she is so angry with us." James replied this piqued every ones curiosity. It was a question that they had no answer to.

"Oh, my boy and what reason might that be?" asked the headmaster. His eyes had regained their twinkle. James took a second to think over his reply before he spoke.

" Raven is a mother, the tapestry shows that she has a daughter called phoenix Branwen." This single statement left the room gapping at him with the sheer impossibility of it. How had Raven Potter been married and with a child at fifteen? Magic should not have allowed it to happen. They needed answers and quickly. Before something else goes wrong.

AN:I have finally managed to get a beta reader so my I should be having some one to double check things from now on. Lots of thanks to 3697014 for doing the checks for me it is a great help.
