"Aren't you two just the sweetest?" Kenna hears a tourist mutter as she and Bash walk around the mother and baby store.

She blushes happily and Bash gives her a smile before the woman comes over for a polite conversation.

"When are you due?"

"Mid-April," Kenna says with a grin as she leans into Bash's side. "I'm seven months along - 28 weeks."

"Wonderful," the woman gushes. "My sister's expecting her first so I thought I might as well grab some gifts for the baby whilst I'm on holiday. Is this your first?"

Kenna nods. "Yep."

"Cherish them," the woman says tenderly. "Because they'll be off to university the next second but they'll always be your baby. Good luck, guys!"

She heads off and Kenna snuggles into Bash's arm, feeling his kiss on the top of her head as they choose gender-neutral clothes. They want it to be a surprise and it's putting all of their female friends in a frenzy as they try to plan a baby shower for them where the guys can also attend since Kenna and Bash are anything but traditional.

Kenna chuckles when Bash gushes over a shirt that says something along the lines of the baby being their daddy's little cupid and Kenna raises her brows, remembering fond memories.

"Hey, remember when we'd go archery?"

Bash looks at her in surprise. "God, it's been five years since we last did that?"

"We should go sometime," she says. "I know you're planning to do it for our new house and those kids who'll come camping but... I'd like to keep stuff alive between us. And one day, you'll teach our son or daughter how to hit bullseyes."

"I'd love that," Bash replies, grabbing the shirt and putting it in their trolley. "My father taught Francis and me. The week I had my neck brace off and could speak a little, he took us out back into the woods of the estate and he had this whole area cleared out with targets. He personally hand-crafted our bows, our initials carved in the top curves... He... He did SVA for me."

Kenna cups his cheek. "That was nice of him."

"Yeah, I guess," Bash mumbles, closing his eyes with a sigh. "But it made me realise that I was never going home to my mother. As much as Henry tolerated her, he always wanted me to have his name and out of spite, my mother left him off my birth certificate until he took her to court and won but my name remained as hers."

Kenna brings his hand to rest on her bump. "Our child will bear their father's name regardless of what it is. I don't care if you're a Valois or a de Poitiers, as long as I'm your wife my name is yours too."

Bash bites his lip nervously. "I changed my surname a while back... To what my father wanted it to be in the first place. It's like being reborn and I wanted to do it before the baby came so I could be in the right headspace for them."

Kenna smiles. "As I said, don't care what your name is and I'm happy for you," she says, cupping his cheek. "Well, Mr Valois, I saw an adorable rocking horse and I know our baby would love that."

Bash grins, kissing her softly before narrowing his eyes. "I'm guessing it's quite pricey?"

"Raisin wants it," Kenna says with a pout as she feels their baby kick. "See?"

Bash snorts. "Okay. For Raisin. But if I catch you on it, I'd have to punish you."

Kenna's eyes sparkle. "Oh, yeah? Maybe I'd just have to take a risk and let you spank me," she replies, pulling him down for a deep kiss before patting his cheek. "Calm down, we're in public."

"Jesus Christ..." Bash mutters, turning away.

His wife was such a flirt.

...

"Automatic breast pump!" Kenna cries out, sharing a glance with Bash. "Thanks, Mary."

Mary snorts. "That's more of for the baby than you," Mary tells her before handing Kenna a bottle of Malibu Rum. "That's for when we'll leave the kids with our husbands and get stupid drunk and take a break from breastfeeding."

Kenna grins. "I love how you know me so well," Kenna muses. "Hey, why didn't we get together?"

Mary cackles when she sees Bash's eyes widen and she slaps his shoulder. "Don't worry. I'm for Francis all day, every day. In bed, on the sofa-"

"Okay, next!" Bash cries out, turning her away as Margot comes forward with her gift. "Ooh, something for me?"

She glares at him. "No, brother dearest. For your child and your wife."

"A man could dream..."

Kenna giggles, accepting the present and opening it up. "Oh, that's so sweet! I can't wait to put it on."

"It would make for adorable family photos," Margot gushes and then she smirks at Bash, chucking him a present box. "Of course, I thought about you too. This is your first child, you need to go all out."

The couple shares a smile as they stare down at their matching shirts with a bear theme thanks to Margot's cheesy heart.

"Thanks, Mar," Bash says, kissing her cheek before the woman lets Catherine and Henry step forward. He warily eyes the giant present that his father is struggling to hold. "Let me guess-"

"High-end pushchair. We knew you would have wanted to get one yourselves," Catherine starts and Henry sighs heavily from placing the gift down. "But we just had to get this one. It will make your life so easy and it comes with a baby bag."

Kenna's brows raise. "Oh, thank you so much!" She grins, sharing a smile with Bash. "Anyway, this may be the best gift we've got." After the one her parents and siblings sent them.

"You're welcome," Henry huffs windily before heading off.

"I'm tired," Kenna says into Bash ear.

"One last one, I'll take you up for a nap," he promises her.

They end up accepting the rest of the twenty guests' presents.

...

"Are your eyes still closed?"

Kenna hums, feeling her husband's hand over her eyes. "I mean, you're covering them."

Bash chuckles, kissing her cheek. "But you always manage to sneak a little peek through my fingers."

Kenna grins and when he pushes her to a stop, she suddenly sees light and finds herself in the baby's nursery that her husband has spent weeks meticulously planning under her nose and has finally completed it with time to spare as she prepares to give birth soon. She beams, eyes tearing up at the surprise her husband has given her and she chokes back a sob when she finds their childhood teddies snuggling on the white, weathered rocking chair.

"I-I don't know what to say..."

Bash hugs her from behind his hand on her bump as he points over to the pictures on the wall. "Don't say anything, just take it all in..." He kisses her cheek softly. "Eight years ago, I was thinking about how I managed to get a woman like you to be mine. I'll be honest, I fell in love with you quickly and hard and it scared me because you'd see how broken I was deep down but Kenna, you saved me. You gave me love in return and now, we have enough to finally give that to our child. I love you, baby."

"I love you too," Kenna croaks out, leaning into his embrace. "You may not always find the words but you never cease to surprise me."

Bash smiles, massaging her hip. "Do you want to take a nap?"

Just before Kenna can nod, she takes a sharp intake of breath which springs Bash into action as he jumps in front of her, hands on her bump in concern.

"What is it?"

Kenna swallows hard. "I-I don't know-ah!" The pain is sharp and intense and that's when it dawns on them when water trickles down her legs. "I think the baby's coming..."

A smile grows on Bash's face and he quickly kisses her before hurrying to find her hospital bag and take her downstairs to the car.

"We're having a baby," he breathes out, kissing her forehead.

...

It takes six hours but at eleven minutes past eleven, they welcome a son into the world and he's so beautiful and perfect and Kenna accepts him being laid onto her chest after Bash cuts the cord and presses a kiss on her sweaty forehead.

They both look down at the baby in awe, laughing when the baby studies them angrily for taking him out of his warm cocoon of a home and all of these doctors and midwives rushing about isn't making him happier about the situation.

"Such a grumpy little one," his mother chides as Bash snorts when they finally have a moment to themselves.

"Look at his eyes, Kenna," he breathes out, the baby's eyes landing on Bash. "So green..."

Kenna's eyes tear up and she laughs in relief. "I love your eyes so much... I'm glad he has them, if only they would remain so." She reaches a hand to her husband's cheek and grins. "We have a son."

"I have a nephew?!"

"Dear, God," Bash mutters, jumping to see Francis enter with gifts, Anne behind him.

"Sorry." He laughs. "We were just excited."

Bash beckons them over. "Where's Mary?"

"James isn't feeling too well so she didn't want to take a chance with the baby and well, Rose isn't sleeping through the night yet so she's a bit worn out," Francis informs them. "But when you get home, she'll visit as soon as possible. Told me to take as many pictures for her."

Kenna smiles happily, reaching out to squeeze his hand. "Thank you. And of course, meet your unnamed nephew!"

The baby whimpers and makes a shooing motion, making the adults laugh as Bash lifts Anne up onto the bed carefully to meet her new little cousin. She stares down at unnamed baby's eyes and gasps, pointing to Bash's eyes.

"They're like yours in the light!"

"And they are like yours otherwise," Bash informs her. "Do you like him? I know you wanted a girl cousin."

Anne tilts her head to the side in thought. "I guess he will do."

Kenna scoffs, sharing a grin with the brothers. "He will have to do because it took six hours for this little guy to come out and I'm not too willing to do that all over again."

Unnamed baby starts to cry and that's when Francis immediately knows what's up. "Annie and I will wait outside as he feeds. Congratulations."

"Thanks," Bash says, waving them off as Kenna smiles until they leave the room, the door closing behind them.

She pulls her shirt down and the baby immediately latches on much to her amusement. "Daddy's boy alright. Just as eager for mama's breasts."

"Kenna!" Bash cries out, scandalised but he laughs and kisses her. "So..."

"So...?"

Bash gestures to their son. "His name."

"We decided, hadn't we?"

Bash raises his brows. "Really?" He asks, surprised. "Robert Henri?"

"Yeah," Kenna says softly. "Unless you don't want to...?"

Bash shakes his head with a smile. "It's perfect. 'Robin' for short."

"Exactly," Kenna replies. "Because of the little charm bracelet, you got me for my birthday. The first birthday we celebrated as a couple." She frowns because she can't remember where she put it after all of these years. She remembers being so cut up about it back then and Bash assuring her that it would turn up and if it didn't, it didn't matter because he could always get her another one. To her, it was irreplaceable.

"I love you."

Kenna grins up at her husband. "I love you too," she says back.
