Cassandra Harris was absolutely certain that she was dreaming when she found herself passed out in the middle of the road. Then, after a minute, she realize that she couldn't be sleeping because she never went to sleep, she'd been shopping. She had her mask on and everything. She tugged it down, seeing as nobody was around she didn't see a reason to wear it at the moment.
It was cold, she realized, and shivered a bit, button up her jacket as she assessed her situation. Okay. I'm in the middle of the road, in some back road in the woods, at night. I don't know this area, but that stop sign is in English, so if I've been kidnapped I'm probably still in North America. That good, because it means I can communicate. Okay. How much money do I have? She reached into her purse, now thankful that she packed a big back for her road trip.
Cassie paused.
That's right. I was heading into Annapolis for the day to get some groceries... I brought a lot of cash because I need to buy a lot of expensive food... I think I've good at least $2000... that's good. A lot to carry on me but I didn't have time to put it in the bank... I'd just been letting my cash pile up...
Satisfied she had enough cash to survive the night when she found a town, she decided to switch it from her purse, into her shoes and bra on the safe side. She did not want anyone stealing that, as it would totally screw her over.
"Alright I think that settles that." She adjusted herself, and looked around. She was near the woods now, having moved off the street, and decided following the road would be her best option. She pulled out her cellphone, and squinted.
"Damn. No bars. Where am I, the middle of Montana?" She muttered and continued walking. Eventually, she found herself near a bridge, and stopping to rest. Flexing her toes in her boots, she noticed a sign near the bridge.
"Wickery Bridge... huh... that's weird.." Cassie frowned, looking at the wooden sign. It's like vampire diaries... in fact... Cassie turned, and looked at the bridge. It looks just like the bridge... did I somehow stumble onto the set of vampires diaries... years after it was filmed? No...
She tried her phone again, and actually managed to get power, although her phone kept glitching when she tried to google where she was, but she managed to find her location on google maps. "Holy shit..." She muttered as she saw what she thought was a fictional town pop up on her phone. I could have sworn Mystic Falls was Convington... but I'm in Mystic Falls Virginia...
Cassie decided to try calling her parents, starting with her mother. Her fingers shook as she called, an pit of dread piling in her stomach. When the other side picked up, Cassie started speaking, "Hi Mom, I'm lost, I'm sorry if I worried you I-"
"I'm sorry but you have the wrong number." The other line spoke, and Cassie's hands started to shake along with her body as she realized what was happening. I'm in Mystic Falls... in a different world. My world isn't the same... I can't call my... they're in another world... I... She felt her face heat up as she realized she was in another world, her breath picked up as she almost dropped her phone. "I-I see.. sorry.." She hung up, and cupped her hand to her mouth, drowning back the sobs as they started to wrack her body.
How will I get back home now? What happened? I'm... what am I going to do? She felt numb as she cried, the tears pouring down her cheeks as she panicked at her situation. Then she took a breath.
Now isn't the time to cry. I need to get out of the open, I'm a perfect target for any hunting vampires. I'm vulnerable, I have no defense against them. Whipping the snot and tears away, Cassie stood up, and walked across the bridge, taking note of the date on her phone.
October 23, Vickie is probably a vampire by now. I'm so glad I was obsessed with this show enough to track down it's timeline... I better mark down all the events on my calendar before I forget. She noted each significant date she could remember, adding a coded hint in each note. She'd done this already, marked the dates as the played out on her calendar, just for fun to watch that episode on the day it would have happened.
It was a fun thing to do for quarantine.
There isn't a global pandemic anymore... thank god. I got eleven years in this world before that happens... if it happens in this world. Cassie put her phone back into her pocket, before she was hit with another realization.
Damon was still hunting, and if she recalled, he was still in angry vampire boy mode. She wasn't looking forward to that drama, but it's not like she could exist properly outside of this world.. well she might, but she needed to get inside.
Cautiously, she glanced around, her paranoia levels rising with each step. It wasn't long before she saw lights, and quickly discovered a hotel. She checked in, and locked all the doors, and hit in the closet as she tried to convince herself Damon wasn't following her.
Dear god, the idea that a vampire was chasing me... at least I'm not in New Orleans, although they have some level of management there at least... She frowned, and decided it was best to go on ahead get some rest. She would start her game plan in the morning.
Dear Diary,
please tell god he's not funny.
Cassie woke up to another mild anxiety attack, before going through her bag. She had basic fix it up make-up, make-up remover wipes, period supplies, wallet, phone, phone charger, pens, notebook, shopping list, sketchbook, extra cloths, (what? It was a long trip and she was the paranoid type.) She had headphones, some food, a water bottle, a small medical kit, survival pack, hair supplies, mirror, sunglasses, etc.
Cassie stole shampoo from the hotel that day, she wasn't proud of it. She couldn't waste her limited money on hotel rent. She would probably have to either go to a homeless shelter, or live in the woods... dangerous, but she new about a place she would be safe. A place vampires were uninvited.
The cave. She would live in a cave for now. When she needed to shower she would just... just... visit a hotel to use the shower? Was that illegal? Cassie wasn't sure, but it didn't sound illegal, just rude. It's not like she wouldn't pay for it, just rent a room for a few hours or night of relaxation.
She just needed to find the Lockwood mansion grounds, the old one... perhaps she could google it? She could. Historical relevancy and everything. "God, this is gonna be a pain."
She would walk there on foot, hope she doesn't run into Damon or any other character, then set up camp. She hoped nobody would notice her trespassing... although she might be able to find another entrance.
The caves were dark, and gloomy, and Cassie new she would need to visit a supplies store because this place would need to be cleaned up a bit. She put her personal items in a corner behind a rock, namely a good bit of her money.
She would need to get documents if she ever wanted a normal life- she knew a vampire could easily compel for something like that. Maybe she could bargain with Slater... with perhaps daylight rings? Those might do the trick.
Yes, daylight rings... if only she was a witch.
"Damn I wish I was a witch, then I could actually do something." She whispered to herself, and then paused. Who says I'm not a witch? Back home I did witchcraft... I mean by my world's standards I was a witch... Cassie reached into her bag and tore off an old note, setting it on the ground. She closed her eyes and focused, willing anything to happen.
"Phasmatos... incentia.." She chanted, but nothing happened. Nature magic it what I would use... if I could just tap into it. Please. I need something to hold as a vice, please don't leave me alone with nothing.. She tug her feet into the ground, as if she was rooting herself, and tried to move her energy. She could feel it, something, happening, a burning focused heat, and then it sparked then-
She smelled smoke, and opened her eyes, grinning. "Phasmatos incentia." Cassie chanted with more conviction this time, and the paper burst into the flames. I'm still a witch no matter what world I'm in. Thank you deity. She grinned, crying out for joy and leaping around. "Yes, Yes. Yes!" She cheered, and then grabbed her things. She had a smaller bag inside the larger one, and it was a hipster.
"Vervain and candles... and food." She listed out the things she needed, and set off to find them. Maybe she could get Grams to teach her, or she could find the vampire daylight ring spell. She might be able to find it somewhere. She would practice her magic some more, somewhere isolated. Namely she would need to know how to protect herself from vampires.
She could not afford to let her guard down. But wait, witches can't be compelled... scratch the vervain, it would have been to hard anyway right now. She needed to get food, her stomach was killing her.
Getting anywhere took time, and eventually Cassie made it to the Grill. Stepping inside, she instantly spotted Matt, but no Vickie. She noticed Caroline and Bonnie, both sitting still. Bonnie looked over at her, and the Cassie got a weird feeling.
Oh shit. Witchy senses tingling. She smiled like an idiot at Bonnie, before going up to the grill. She looked up at the menu, and decided on the typical burger and fries, with tea. "So, I haven't seen you around here." The flirty bartender who Cassie realized was the vampire that would kidnap Bonnie and Elena smiled at her, and she grinned back as she internally panicked. "Yeah I just arrived in town." Shit what if he wants to eat me.
"Really? Where you from?" He asked, and Cassie tucked a lock of hair behind her ear, pretending to be interested. "Annapolis, Maryland." She lied, and the bartender vampire grinned.
"City girl, that's cool. Does city girl have a name?" He purred, and Cassie pretended to smile. "She does... Cassandra, although my friends call me Cassie." She said, before asking his name. "Ben."
She realized Bonnie and Caroline were talking about her, when she looked through her compact mirror and caught them looking. She glanced back at them, and turned back, finishing her fries, tipping the bartender.
"See you around, Cassie." Said Ben as she got up, and she flashed him a smile, and a quick "see ya" before turning to go. She didn't like the attention she was already getting, she was prepared for them yet.
She would need to make allies soon though... and she might also be able to save Vickie. It was possible... she would also need to do that vampire brain melting trick. It looks like she had some experimenting to do. Maybe online research via phone... that would need to be here because wifi. Damn. Perhaps the library? That seemed like a more appealing idea.
She had until October 31st to save Vickie Donovan and gain allies.
Alright. What do you think, good, bad, mildly acceptable? Please leave a review.
