A/N: Here's the long awaited ch.3 which no one asked for. Parts of this are new, just to fit the flow better, but most of this is OG 12 year-old writing. You're welcome

1.5 YEARS LATER

Kate missed a phone call. She has a life, she'll call me back.

Two days later, and still, nothing. Radio silence from Kate and Rory. Every day, or every other day on a bad week, Rory, Kate, and I would exchange brief messages. Sometimes texts, sometimes calls, but always something. Rory had settled in well with Kate, and although it wasn't ideal, Kate had been able to take care of her granddaughter better than I had. But they had never, ever, missed a communication. Always, within 24 hrs. we'd hear from each other, even if it was only a "K".

I waited another day, but when there was still no response, I felt myself doing something I had never thought I'd do. I bought a ticket to DC. and reluctantly headed toward the Navy Yard. Growing up with Ari, I had heard many stories about my mother, Kate, and her team at NCIS. I desperately wanted to reach out to my contacts at Mossad, but those contacts weren't in the States at the moment, so NCIS was my best bet. I did not look forward to having to explain who I was and why Kate was alive, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

The moment I hit the Navy Yard I was Katarina Todd. I hoped that the name would catch the attention of Kate's NCIS team. And boy did it. In a twist of fate, I entered the building mere seconds before one Anthony DiNozzo, part of Kate's old team.

"Please state your name and reason for coming to the Navy Yard. I'll also need to see proof of ID," a guard at the entrance stated.

"Katarina Todd, I need to speak to a Jethro Gibbs regarding a missing persons case he previously worked on." I stated.

"Ma'am that sort of thing needs to go through official channels," the guard replied.

At this point DiNozzo decided to speak up. "Hey, Greg, I'll take her in. I'm sure Gibbs would want to hear this. If there's a problem, that's on me."

The guard, Greg, sighed in resignation. "Alright, you're good to go in, with DiNozzo's accompaniment."

I smiled, thanking the guard as I followed Tony along, through the metal detectors and into the bullpen of the building.

"Guys, this is Katarina Todd. She said she's got a missing persons case she wanted to talk to us about. Something we already worked on." DiNozzo announced to the team.

"Katarina Todd, huh." Gibbs stated skeptically. "Pretty sure Katarina can be shortened to Kate, so why don't you tell us why you're really here, Miss Todd, before I drag you down to interrogation." his voice getting angrier as he spoke.

McGee and Ziva's heads snapped up at Gibbs' statement, the environment around Chris getting more and more hostile.

Chris drew in a breath, preparing to defend herself. "Look, it's a long story but hear me out. My real name is Chris Taylor. Caitlyn Todd is alive. Or at least she was." Gibbs looked like he was about to strangle me. "She faked her own death, okay? I have proof that she was alive a week ago, but I haven't heard from her since. We have a routine. We communicate with each other at most every 24 hours, and I haven't heard from her or my daughter, who is staying with her, in 5 days. I need your help to find them."

The team stared at me in disbelief. In a low voice Gibbs demanded, "Proof. Now. Before I throw you out of here or charge you for making a false report."

I pulled out my phone, even as my instincts screamed at me to stop, and showed Gibbs and the team photos of Kate and Rory from just over a week ago.

"Look," I said, "There's something else you should probably know before this goes any further. Kate isn't the only one alive. Ari Hiswari is as well." Gibbs growled at the statement. "He and Kate faked their deaths for their protection. Believe me when I tell you that Ari isn't a bad person. In fact, he and Kate were together. Had been for a while."

The team was a mix of emotion. Gibbs looked furious, DiNozzo, confused, McGee, hopeful, and Ziva looked happy, resigned, and guilty all at once. Ziva had been in on the plan from the start.

Slowly, I mentioned, "I called him in on this. Ari can help us, unofficially. Either way, I think he has a right to know that his wife was kidnapped."

Gibbs looked like he wanted to do nothing more than track Ari down and kill him. Slowly. He took a deep breath and jerked his head towards the elevator. "I assume you had some way to contact her. Abby can help track her down."

I nodded and got onto the elevator. As the elevator was descending, Gibbs flipped a switch and it came to a grinding halt. I tensed up, ready to have to fight for my life.

Gibbs remained staring at the elevator doors. "Chris, I hope you know that I see even a hair on Ari Hiswari's head, I will not hesitate to finish the job Ziva started."

I winced at the remark, but nodded my head. "Understood. As long as you don't mention his presence to anyone outside the team, we have a deal."

Gibbs nodded as well, and flipped the elevator switch back on.

Abby's lab was… eccentric. I'd heard stories, but it was nothing compared to being there in real life. Loud music and random trinkets that screamed goth were everywhere. Abby was incredibly chipper as well. She took the news of Kate's non-death and subsequent kidnapping fairly well, although she shared the team's dislike of all things Ari.

Abby decided to try to put a trace and a trap and trace on the phone. "Okay, Kate's phone is turned off at the moment, so I can't track it until it turns back on. The last tower it bounced off of is near where you say her apartment is, so no news there. But we'll find her. And your daughter. Promise."

A/N: Okay, so, at this point I've gotten through one of three scenes I wrote from way back when. When I got the idea to type this up, so that I could shred the paper and still keep the story, no matter how cringe, I didn't expect to write two new "chapters" although they aren't very long. So, here's the plan. Sometime, within the next week, the last two scenes should be going up here. For all I loved NCIS back in the day, apparently I skipped the entire investigation part of the story and went straight to the end result. So, at least one scene will be up in the next week. Maybe I'll write a short chapter about the investigation proper, maybe not. TBH I don't think anyone is reading this anymore, which is valid. If anyone is still reading this, wow, you're a trooper and you're awesome. So yeah. The part of this from when I was 12 was meeting the team, if ya couldn't tell. See you soon.
