Expect the Unexpected
Finishing my Sheriff work, I decided it was time to pay the shifter of Bon Temps a visit. I had given him plenty of time to pay up his end of the deal that was created five years ago. I've even been generous enough to give him some extra time, to pay what he owes me after seeing how surprisingly well his business is doing. There was no reason for his late payments.
As he was on his own, and not part of a shifter group, he was a single supernatural acting alone, living in my area and therefore it is my responsibility to keep an eye on him and he came to me, for help building Merlotte's Bar and Grill. He had enough for a plot of land to put his trailer on, but not enough for him to build an actual building and everything that needed to go inside it on the same plot of land.
It was a gamble on my part, but as I said, it has been a surprisingly popular destination for the locals of the town it seems. So again, the shifter had no real reason to not pay up his end of the deal. It is my job to find out why the shifter has been shady with repaying his part of the deal.
I have to be careful as well, due to myself not being completely human! If you haven't guessed it already, I am a Vampire and a Sheriff. Things are also changing in my world, and I'm not too sure if I am all for the "Great Revelation" as the authorities are thinking of calling it. I think, as I drive my red Corvette to Bon see... some in the hierarchy and a few authority individuals seem to think they've found a solution for Vampires to be a part of mainstream society and live peacefully among humans and step foot into the night, without having to hide in the shadows.
I already had several businesses, so it will be interesting to see how they fare when clientele discover it's run by vampires. Same with other businesses! We are secretive CEO's that have glamoured some to run things for us. Sometimes, we don't need to use our glamour due to greedy humans that smell the money and see the advantages. They are glamoured into not revealing who we are, those select few.
I park my car as covered as I can get within the shadows of the trees to the right of Merlotte's, turning the lights and engine off on my Corvette. It's now twelve thirty at night, and the last light had just turned off. I noticed only one car remained in the parking area: a rusty-looking, old yellow mini. The arched doors of Merlotte's opened and a blonde-haired girl came out and locked the doors.
She turned around and froze when she saw the boot of my car - she had not yet seen me, as I stayed hidden in the shadows of the trees. But I found I could not take my eyes off of the blonde beauty, standing within the rays of the moonlight. She shook her head, and made her way forwards, keeping a distance from my car. Perhaps tonight wasn't looking so annoying after all. The closer she got, the stronger her sweet and ocean scent became.
When she reached the trunk of her mini, she tried to open it, even tried using her shoe as she wiggled the key to lift it but couldn't seem to. I decided to make myself known. I lifted my Corvette door and got out of my car. She jumped in the air, holding onto her fast-beating heart and was momentarily frozen. She looked directly at me with a confused expression on her beautiful face. I walked slowly towards her, coming into the moonlight and I heard her gasp. I wondered what I looked like in her eyes. Where was Merlotte?
"Do you need help? I was expecting to see Sam Merlotte come out," I said to her, coming around to stand directly next to her. This woman's scent smelt amazing. Something I've smelt before, but can't think of where. A unique blend, and a rare thing to find these days - completely untouched.
"Um... I think so." She took a step back and handed me her keys. When our hands touched, she gasped and I felt surprised myself by the sensation our skin coming in contact made. I had never felt like that before, when touching another's skin. Her keys dropped on the floor, and my hand held hers. When the fuck did I ever hold hands with anyone? Not even with my own child, and I made her a Vampire.
I moved her hands so our palms were touching, feeling the current running between us; it wasn't unpleasant, it actually felt rather nice. I looked directly into her beautiful blue eyes, which were currently focused with wonder on our hands. She looked away from our hands, to look up into my own, having clearly sensed my gaze on her. I felt like there was magic in the air.
A whoosh of air suddenly swirled around us, and she came even closer, our fingers now entwined as my arm went around her waist, her free hand resting on my chest. It felt like an invisible rope was tying us together and our souls were being tied by tiny threads of needles.
Our bodies seemed to currently have a mind of their own; as my lips touched hers, it felt like my body became alive. Her hand snuck into my hair, holding me in place, as my arm held her close to my body. The combination of warm and cold had never felt so good. I had no idea what was happening because all that seemed to matter was her: the feel of her, the feel of her body and lips against my own and the sensation our skin seemed to create with our touch.
I let go of her hands, and moved to lift her legs up and brought her even closer to me, holding her tightly to my body. Whenever she needed to breathe, she reacted instantly when my lips found her neck. It took a lot of effort not to sink my fangs into her delicious skin - she tasted divine. At least I could still mark her skin with my lips. At least males would know she's taken. Shit - when did I start thinking she's mine? I didn't even know her name and I hadn't even realised I'd moved until I found myself leaning over her on the hood of my Corvette. I had to force myself not to rip her tiny black shorts off. What kind of work uniform is this?
"Not here," I told her, as she held my face between her breasts. I moved myself back up her body and kissed her lips. "It doesn't feel right continuing this here on the hood of my car," I told her. She took my lips with her own, her hands tangled in my hair.
"I don't usually do this kinda thing, but it feels right for some reason. My grandmother won't be back tonight, she's staying at a friend's house." I then realised she didn't know my name or I hers.
"It just dawned on me that I do not know your name, and you don't know mine. I'm Eric," I told her.
"Sookie," she responded, bringing my mouth back down to hers. At least I now knew this beautiful, delicious human's name. I move us up from the hood of my car, bringing her up with me. I never cared before, but for some reason, this beautiful creature meant something to me. After what we just experienced, it further proved my point from the moment I laid eyes on her, to the first touch of our skin, I just knew she was mine.
Lifting her off the hood of my car, I placed my arms around her neck.
"What are you?" she suddenly asked me randomly as she held my face in her tiny hands, looking directly into my eyes. She's definitely made for me, nobody else, man or woman, Vampire or other, would ever have the balls to do this.
"What makes you think I am something?" I fired back at her, curious to see what her answer would be.
"Your mind is blank to me," she said. Well, fuck me, I wasn't expecting that!
"My mind?" I encouraged her.
"Where your thoughts are supposed to be is like a void, a blank space, and to be honest, you're the first man I've ever met that I've been able to stand long enough to go this far with. I've no idea what that was between us earlier either, but for some strange reason I feel safe with you, a complete stranger."
"I'd rather finish this conversation someplace more private. You never know who's out at night. I'm rather pissed off your boss lets you lock up alone," I told her, feeling angry and suddenly remembering the real reason I came out this way tonight.
"Oh yes! I'd forgotten you'd asked me about Sam. His trailer is out back behind the bar if you wanna go see him?" she told me. I shake my head and kiss her lips.
"I'd much rather spend it with you tonight than deal with your boss. He can wait until tomorrow night, and I will pay him a visit when you are open."
"Okay... so where do we go from here, if you want to?" she asked, suddenly going all shy.
"Oh, I want to, and with what's happened between us tonight, I'd rather finish our conversation somewhere more private, as I said earlier."
"Then we can continue whatever this is back at my place? As I said, my grandmother won't be home, so I'm pretty sure we will have no interruptions there. I live in a clearing, surrounded by woods so no worries about nosy neighbours. You can follow me if you want?" Sookie suggested. I nodded, and we both seemed to feel reluctant to let each other go.
"Oh, my keys! We dropped them earlier, before..." I moved to the boot of her car, bent down and picked them up, surprising Sookie. I appeared quicker than normal in front of her, dangling her keys in her face, smirking amusedly at her confused and surprised expression.
"How..." She trailed off, narrowing her eyes.
"I'll explain when we are at yours," I told her. She took her keys from me, kissed me on the cheek, surprising me, and moved to the driver side of her door.
I heard her start the engine, but it sounded to me like it wasn't going to start.
"Fuck. Don't shit on me now, Daisy... if Jason' done somethin' to ya like he's been threatening for years... I'll kick his ass!" she told the car. I couldn't help but chuckle. The car made some weird noise and shut off completely.
"Oh, fuck," she said.
I got out of my car and around to her side of the car.
"Need a ride?" I said, amused. She looked up with narrowed eyes, clearly not missing the amusement in my tone. She grabbed her bag from the passenger seat and I opened her door for her. She smiled sweetly at me as she got out.
"No, thanks. I can walk." She started walking away from me, and I found I didn't like it. I soon had her in my arms, bridal style, and moved at fast speed to my car, placing her in the passenger seat and belted her in before she could even register what had happened. She now stared at me, wide-eyed.
"Give me the directions, lover." It took me about ten minutes in my car to get to her house, though I think my car may have cried a little with how bad her drive old farmhouse looked beautiful surrounded by moonlight, and I could see what she had meant by it was in a clearing and had no neighbours around. Knowing what kind of things walked through woods like these had me on edge a little.
"You really do live in the middle of nowhere," I told her as I got out of my car. I was around to her side just as she got her seatbelt off. I'm surprised she had no reaction to my baby. Most girls love it, and guys drool over it. Maybe fancy and flashy things didn't impress her?
We walked up to the steps of her home, and I sensed the magic surrounding the old farmhouse. My eyebrows rose in surprise at this. I wonder if Sookie knew, or perhaps she was so used to living here, she had never noticed. I also mused if Sookie's grandmother knew more?
Sookie unlocked the front door and went into the house. I hesitated, because we Vampires have to have permission to enter a human's home.
"Sookie, you need to invite me in, we can't just enter," I told her when she turned back around to see why I'd stopped at the doorway.
"Oh... um, Eric, please come in?" she said, questioningly. I felt the magic ease and I stepped foot into the cosy-looking living space, closing the door behind me. Sookie came to stand next to me and locked several locks on the door. I raised my eyebrows in surprise.
"You can never be too sure what trash my brother's gotten involved with. We've had some issues in the past. So we've invested in some locks," she explained.
"Your brother sounds like a bit of an asshole." She giggled.
"That he is, but he's my asshole, my brother."
"So what would you like to know first?" I break the silence that sits surprisingly comfortably between us as we move into the large kitchen area. I raised my eyebrows regarding the layout. So we entered a medium-sized lounge area, then walked through a door opposite the front door and into the kitchen.
"What are you?" she asked. I moved towards her, where she stood leaning against the sink, by a window looking out to the woods behind her. I placed my hands on either side of her on the counter top.
"What do you think I am?" I asked her. Sookie surprised me by placing her hands on my chest and sliding them up to my neck, holding my face and looking directly into my eyes.
"Your body is cold, and your mind is blank where your thoughts should be. You move super fast, too fast for a human to move. I think you're something other, but what... I am unsure."
"Why do you say where my thoughts should be? Can you read human minds?" I didn't answer her directly and I did not deny it either. She smirked.
"You answer first, then I will answer." I raised an eyebrow, surprised with her response.
"Do you believe in fairy tales?" I asked her, still not giving her a straightforward answer. She moved her hands to put her arms around my neck. I moved my arms to around her waist and shifted so I leaned against the sink.
"As in Tinkerbell, werewolves, shape-shifters, zombies and vampires?"
"Would you believe me if I told you I was one of what you just mentioned?" Her jaw dropped.
"No shit?" was her response.
"Yes shit. You can't hear my thoughts and my skin is cold. Which one do you think I am?"
Again, she surprised me by moving her hands to my mouth and lifting my lips up to see my teeth. My fangs came out all by their fucking selves upon her touch. Sookie's definitely my woman!
"Vampire." She gasped, and the smell of her arousal spiked the air around the room, causing my dick to harden, and I knew she felt it.
"Are you afraid?" I asked her.
"Not with you, for some reason. It's also refreshing not hearing someone's thoughts. I don't know what happened earlier, but I feel connected to you in a way I don't think I ever will with anyone else." I retracted my fangs and leaned in to give her the best fucking snog of her life.
Whatever happened after that very night, I knew she'd be by my side and that this was just the beginning of our lives together. But I shall have to be careful. I am not ready to bring her around my kind, or into the supernatural world in general, and I won't throw her into the deep end. Even though her boss is a supe himself, we will have to tread carefully. I'm even reluctant to bring her around Pamela, my vampire child.
As a Sheriff, she'd be under my protection, but I'm feeling like we should wait until the big revelation, or after things have settled. I won't put my woman in any sort of danger.
It'll be hard enough not to acknowledge her when I pay Merlotte a visit tomorrow night at the bar when it's open. It's also taking a lot of effort to not sink my fangs into her sweet skin.
I did not survive a thousand years by making rash decisions, even if my instincts were right.
Would love to hear what any of you think who is passing through?
And hope everyone around the world is okay and staying safe xx
P.S - Chapters will be weekly, due to still working!
