"Look on the desk," I told him. Eric moved over to the desk as I locked the office door, and then walked over to shut the window, leaning against it. I watched and felt him get angrier and angrier by the second. To me, he just looked hotter angrier.
"Fucking shi-t." It sounded like he was going to say something else, but changed it to shit last minute. He looked up at me then.
"The asshole has well and truly dumped you in it, lover," he told me and then added, "I smelled bullshit when he said family situation."
"That is what I thought. Sam's never mentioned any family in the past, we all just assumed he was an only child and moved away from home."
"I hate to break it to you, lover, because I can feel you've had a stressful day... I think Merlotte's done a runner due to his financial situation. I also feel that as a Sheriff, and because of our relationship, you should know some more of my world," he said, rising and coming over to where I still leant against the window sill.
He glanced over my head in silence for a few moments before he closed the blind down and rested his hands on either side of me.
"Your boss isn't entirely human. I will not say what he is, that's his story. I have done some investigation work, before we even met, on Sam Merlotte. It turns out that he's a bit of a gambler and thief. He has hopped around areas and gone to supernatural officials, or they to him, when they discovered there was a random Supernatural residing in the area. Asks them for a loan to set up business and then ditches when he doesn't pay it up, and people like me come looking." I just stared at him in shock with my jaw dropped.
"That would explain his different thought pattern. When I slip up a few times due to being really tired or stressed, I find it harder to keep my shields up," I explained.
"Have you come across many others who are different like Merlotte's mind?" he asked with a curious tone. I placed my hands on his chest and moved them up his black crewneck shirt. I felt his lust spike as my hands made their way into his hair, looking into his eyes.
"Other than you...not that I am aware of. Most of the time I try my hardest to keep out of other people's heads. Yours I cannot read at all. Like I said the other night, you have no idea how refreshing and amazing it is to come across someone who I can't read. I much prefer our connection, which I hope and pray it is only us," I told him honestly.
The way he looked deeply into my eyes was as if he was looking for a lie, but with our odd but strangely nice connection, he could only feel my truth and desire for him and him alone. He leant in and kissed me for the first time tonight, bringing one hand into my hair, holding me in place. His strong arm wrapped around my waist, pulling me as close to him as he could get, which I was not complaining about.
His hand traveled down to the hem of my shirt and slipped underneath to knead my left breast, causing me to moan as his lips leftmine to continue the path down to the base of my neck, where I had applied a little makeup to hide the hickey he'd left earlier. I felt his tongue against it and, on instinct, turned my head to give him more room.
Something flared up inside him and I couldn't put my finger on it. His tongue removed the makeup I'd placed there then his hand was on my jaw. He moved my face so I could look directly into his beautiful blue eyes.
"Rule number one... never offer your neck to a Vampire unless you one hundred percent mean it and want it. Rule number two, don't hide my mark on your beautiful neck again. I am a very possessive and protective man when something is mine. Our connection runs deeper, it seems, than most. Before I sink my fangs into your delicious skin, there are some things I should make you aware of." He paused!
"We can already feel each other's emotions without creating a blood-bond. You are now the first thing I feel when I rise and the first person I think about. Whatever happened the other night brought us together in a unique way that hardly ever happens in the Supernatural world. It is very rare that a Vampire or other comes across his or hers true mate, the reason for waking up each night, a new reason to continue living. In all my thousand years walking this earth... never did I ever think once that I would find the other half of my soul. If I drink your blood, like when you gave me your virginity, there will be no going back at all. There won't be an out unless one of us dies, then I have a feeling the other will find it hard to continue living without the other."
I felt shocked, and in awe of the things he was telling me. I'd never felt this way about a boy or man before. Not even a celebrity or musician crush. Just this beautiful man before me. We started at each other for what felt like a long time before I titled my head, giving him a sign that I wanted this, I wanted us. I would never feel alone again, I would never feel like I was the only odd one out.
Eric seemed torn about it but surprised me by moving my head and kissing me, both of our desires rising. He kissed along my jaw to my ear and licked down to the base of my throat where he caressed the area with his tongue. His fangs suddenly dropped down and pierced my skin for the first time and I felt myself let go, a feeling I couldn't describe.
I didn't feel the moment his lips left my skin until his bloody lips touched mine; our tongues danced and our hands wandered. The feel of his fangs against my lips and teeth was a whole other feeling entirely. When I tasted his blood in my mouth, the atmosphere changed completely and I could feel him stronger than before.
Eric's hand found its way into my shorts. My hands tangled in his hair and I felt my hips turn as if they had a mind of their own. His fingers entered me and his skilled hands made my body feel more alive.
I came hard and thank God for Eric's lips on mine because I would have screamed his name and anyone walking past would have heard. After my body came down from its high, Eric removed his talented fingers and put them into his mouth, taking all my body had to offer him and kissed me, long and slow. I felt completely relaxed and different. He then licked my neck where he'd bitten me.
When we broke apart, Eric placed a hand over my beating heart and said, "Mine." A knock on the door burst our bubble and we both felt annoyed. Breaking apart, we straightened ourselves out.
"Go sit at the desk and I'll open the door." He kissed my lips one last time before we really did let each other go. I pulled my hair up into a ponytail as I sat down at the desk, pretending to go through the papers I had left out like we were reading them earlier. I looked up when my man opened the door to see Tara, who was clearly about to knock again.
"Sookie... Sam phoned the bar, he is going to call back in five minutes. I have told the others to ignore the phone when it rings as it'll come through to here," she said, completely ignoring Eric, who had come back around. I felt surprise and anger at once. It took everything I had not to look at Eric.
"Oh, okay. You should listen in on this one. Mr. Supe here was about to see if he's any better at technology than me. Sam left nothing for the computer." Tara came in and closed the door. Eric felt annoyed the closer she got, especially when she sat down on the chair.
"Nice right hook, by the way. That fucking asshole deserved it, and he's gonna get another one if I ever see him walk through the bar again or see his ass about somewhere else." Eric's annoyance turned to amusement, but he completely ignored her. As he went through some of the paperwork, I dipped into her mind out of curiosity!
Why the fuck is Mr. Sexy going through personal Merlotte's business shit? Why is Sookie trusting this complete stranger? What'shis fucking connection to our wayward boss? What THE FUCK is going on?
I chose this moment to speak.
"Tara, just spit it out, I can tell you have questions you want to ask. So ask whilst we wait for Sam's phone call." Eric sent me curiosity and I sent him annoyance.
"Why's Mr. Supe getting involved in Merlotte's business?" she said, looking at me through narrowed eyes.
"He is a business man from Shreveport with more experience than I have. I haven't a clue in reality what the heck I am doing." I picked up the letter and handed it to her. "I feel you should see this, as you will be opening and we'll both closing until we get a spare key cut."
"Fucking asshole is going to get more than a right hook." The phone rang just then. Tara looked up as I felt Eric move to sit on the desk. I answered the phone, placing it on loud speaker. I waited for a couple of seconds.
"Sook, you there? I know you have picked up and I know you are probably mad at me. But my family situation was unavoidable." I felt angry, knowing what I knew.
"Now you shut it, Samuel Merlotte, and you listen real carefully," I hissed. "How dare you dump me in the deep end, and by the way, that guy came looking for you twice, only to find you gone. He said you had a meeting this evening when he came, and left none too pleased to find you had upped and left town."
"Fuck, shit... if he ever comes back, call Bud." I felt Eric's amusement.
"And why is that? He is coming back tomorrow night to help me access your computer that I have no clue how to use." Tara's jaw dropped as she looked at me wide-eyed.
"Oh no, no I can give you that information now. I use it to make orders and keep spreadsheets. The log in is: Sam Merlotte." Ericleaned over to type this in. "And the password is: Collie2000. I beg you do not involve him."
"What's really going on, Sam? I have Tara opening up and we are both closing until we can get a key cut."
"Are you on your own, Sook?" I felt Eric's annoyance every time Sam called me Sook. I personally didn't like that nicknameeither but it was less annoying than Cher. I glanced at Tara, then locked eyes with Eric. He sent me warning, and caution.
"Yes." Tara had leant forward at this point.
"Stay away from Eric Northman, Sookie. He is bad news, you don't want to get mixed up with people like him. If he comes to the bar, I mean it, call Sheriff Dearborne."
"And why is that? I deserve a reason at least. I have no reason to judge Mr. Northman as I do not know him," I said. I could see Tara was now looking between me and Eric with narrowed eyes, through the corner of my eye. He might have to use that glamour thing he mentioned on her, our eyes still locked.
"I cannot tell you over the phone, but I promise to tell you when I return." I rolled my eyes.
"And when exactly will that be, Samuel Merlotte? You are really pissing me off."
"I'm not sure just yet, but I will be back, this I can promise you. Just don't tell anyone I said so."
I sighed, annoyed. "You're not going to give me anything, are you?"
"The computer was the main reason I called. I forgot to leave you the login details and explain where to find things," he said.
"Well, thanks, but Tara and I can work things out," I told him.
"Make sure she doesn't drink too much whilst on shift." I turned to smirk at Tara, amused. Her jaw dropped and she stared daggers at the phone.
"Oh, and be aware that she slips your brother and Laffayette freebies when he's not working in the kitchen, she thinks I don't notice!" It was very hard to not laugh out loud due to Tara's expression, but I also felt a little confused as to why she was doing that for Jason. I try my very best to stay out of their heads, but part of me was burning with curiosity as I stared at her. She shifteduncomfortably under my gaze!
"One more thing..." He hesitated. "If a man named Calvin Norris comes in looking for me and doesn't go away, call the Sheriff." I almost wanted to say which Sheriff. My Sheriff or the human Sheriff?
"You're not making much sense, Sam. If that is all, I'm a little busy running YOUR bar," I hissed. Silence on the other end of the line, after that. So I hung up. I shared a look with Eric.
"Eric..." I said.
"What the fuck?" Tara said. I don't think she'd ever had so much shock in a short space of time. He nodded and turned to face Tara. I watched, fascinated!
"Tara," he called her name. She turned to him and I saw her eyes glaze over as he began to speak.
"You will not remember the name Eric Northman or Calvin Noriss. I am simply just a business man from Shreveport, Mr Supe, who was supposed to have a meeting with Sam Merlotte. With his unforeseen absence, I have been giving you and Miss Stackhouse advice. You are in charge of the bar tomorrow night and Miss Stackhouse will be working the afternoon shift... do you understand?" he asked her.
"Yes, Mr. Supe, I understand. We really appreciate your help."
"Good, now go back to the bar and leave me and Miss Stackhouse in peace. Tell the others she will not be able to continue her waitressing shift tonight, due to this unforeseen meeting. You will finish at your usual time." I stared in awe as she just nodded and agreed with what he was saying, like she was under his spell. He looked away from her and she seemed to snap out of it.
"At least we know that asshole is coming back," she said, rising from her chair.
"True," I told her as she left the room.
For the rest of the evening, Eric and I cuddled as he showed me how to use the computer. Between kisses and a blow job for him when his jeans ended up on the floor, I discovered he goes commando. I ended up topless at some point also; my man's for sure a boob guy.
We didn't leave the office until it was time to clean and close up the bar. Eric went to his car, and I stayed behind to help the others tidy the bar. I got dirty looks from Arlene, and curious looks from Dawn. Laffayette and Terry were plotting ways to find Sam with Tara.
I wondered what tomorrow would bring.
As a thank you for all the reviews, favs and follows I decided to give you a sneak peak into chapter eleven :) This chapter is not beta'd yet.
He felt rather smug and amused as he took in the usually blanked face, icy blue eyed Vampire Viking Sheriff which now supported one of shock and disbelief.
"Just because you seem to know more than you should some how, does mean I will believe your word fairy. Some of it may be factual but the rest I will need more proof than words before I even consider allowing any strangers claiming to be my womans family any where near her." He said with warning.
"And do NOT try any funny business between sunrise and sunset or enter the bar she works at including her home. As you pointed out she has had enough disruption and upset thst I have finally got her back to feeling somewhat happy and content. Personally I prefer her this way to the alternative." The Viking's frosty tone warned me,
