The next hour was a blur. Annie disliked the amount of eyes on her, and how hopeless she felt. Finnick walked beside her, guiding her to the aircraft that would take her away from him. Forever, she thought, taking in a gulp of air.
She wanted to reach over and hold his hand, but he would never allow that. As they approached the plane, Annie felt the air get thinner, her face flushing to a ghostly white.
Finnick felt a pit in his stomach, praying to whatever might be above, that Annie would live. This was the hardest thing he would ever have to do, and he was sure of that.
Then the time to say goodbye came.
The door opened to the plane, and a Capitol attendant called Annie's name, crossing it off a roster.
"Finnick..." Annie whispered, stopping in her steps, frozen in time.
Finnick looked down at her, "Annie, you'll be okay. Remember everything you've learned, everything Mags and I have taught you."
"I can't.." She continued, feeling as though she was going to throw up.
Annie knew she would die. It was meant to be. Snow wanted her dead, she was sure of that.
I can't even kiss him goodbye, she thought, her eyes glazing over.
"Annie Cresta, you need to come on board." The attendant said, a bit of annoyance in her eyes.
Finnick turned towards Annie, placing a hand on her arm, "You'll make it, Annie," he said, before lowering his voice, "I love you."
Annie took a deep breath, before whispering back, "My last thought will be of your lips."
Then she was off.
Next thing she could remember was the cold room, and the small tube she was stuffed into.
The tube moved up, like a miniature elevator. The top opened, sending a blindingly bright light into the capsule. When it surfaced, she saw nothing but trees and snow.
No wonder that room was so cold.
Ten.
Holy shit.
Nine.
What am I supposed to do?
Eight.
Cornucopia. That's where I need to go.
Seven.
It looks like there's a set of spears and knives.
Six.
Where's Gerald?
Five.
How slick is this snow?
Four.
I can't trip. I can't trip. I can't-
Three.
Past the cornucopia... Is that a dam?
Two.
Holy shit.
One.
I'm in the arena.
Run.
