Waking up at the ass crack of dawn, Naruto dragged himself out of bed out of habit at this point as he always did since Sasuke had convinced his parents to allow Naruto refuge under their care until both graduated from school which was a week ago.
Since their graduation, Naruto was told he had only 10 days left to remain under their care, before he was swiftly evicted.
This mattered not to Naruto since come 5 days for now, he'll have the money needed to get his car, and would only need to rough it for like 2 nights on the street.
At this time, Sasuke had already gotten up and out of bed to greet his friend first thing as well.
"Ready to get your day going" said Sasuke, "Yeah, let's go" said Naruto as he began to slide on his practically destroyed once navy blue slip on shoes.
Ironically enough that was one of the few things he owned that he would once considered to be new and his, compared to everything else he was given, which were old or used.
Examples would be his orange cargo pants, his various t-shirts, including his 'I love ramen' t-shirt he was wearing, and his light weight orange and black jacket.
And this wasn't including things like Sasuke's old phone he had given him, or the backpack he had on with him every day.
And this was something Naruto came to realize as he followed Sasuke outside his parents house and into his car, before they drove off.
"You know you don't have to do this, I can always take the bus" said Naruto, "I want to do this, since we're not gonna be seeing each other at home come next Monday morning" said Sasuke as he was taking Naruto to work.
"Yeah, gonna be weird not waking up seeing you every morning at your place from now on" said Naruto as Fugaku made sure to leave the impression that just because they allowed him refuge, this was far from being his home or even a place to call it.
"Look, I'm sorry that we couldn't convince my dad to let you stay till you got a place" began Sasuke as he felt guilty throwing his friend out onto the street.
"It's alright Sasuke, it's nothing personal and believe it or not I don't hold anything against your dad, the guy has done enough for me as it is" said Naruto as this didn't seem to ease Sasuke at all.
"I just wish I could do more for you" said Sasuke as they stopped at a light, "Sasuke if it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have been able to finish and graduate highschool like the rest of you guys or get that job working with your brother, who promised me that after this month, I'll be promoted to supervisor" said Naruto.
"Sigh, remind to thank Itachi again come after your promotion" said Sasuke as they continued to drive.
Eventually they were parked outside one of the last remaining cookie shop/Ice cream parlor in town, before Naruto began to open his door.
"Thanks for the ride" said Naruto, "I'll come by to pick you up later on" said Sasuke before Naruto shut the door and watched his friend drive off.
Entering inside the building, Naruto saw 2 other co-workers whom he never bothered to remembered since they were usually part time to summer time jobs for these highschool kids and not a life career choice.
"Naruto, morning" greeted Itachi, "Hey boss, what you want me to do this morning" asked Naruto, "Just start mixing and baking the brownies and cookies like you always do".
"Can do sir" said Naruto as he was already over the counter where he began to not only wash his hands, but put on the basic uniform of a pink and red striped apron and a black baseball hat that read 'Uncle Dean's Ice cream parlor' in red letter.
From there his body worked clockwork as he had a routine set up and everything about his work day seemed to have blend in like it always did when working.
Though there were exceptional moments, mainly how Itachi would call Naruto out and talk to him between the work hours and lunch break, where the 2 would chat and hang out.
Truly besides Sasuke, Naruto found Itachi to be an awesome guy he looked up to and was appreciative of, and finds it to be a real shame that Fugaku had disowned him simply because instead of going to law or business school, Itachi settled on being manager here at an ice cream parlor.
Reason, because this was where Itachi found happiness and freedom, and as the boss he was able to treat his employees with the kindness and forgiveness he was never given growing up and has no regrets for his actions as he feels relieved to be out of his father's shadow.
Soon the work day came to an end and Naruto took the time to talk to his boss.
"So Naruto, how are things between you, Sasuke, and mother" said Itachi as he deliberately left out his father, on account of being disowned.
"It's good, Mikoto as always would make us all a hot meal and is willing to ask about my day, Sasuke looks out for me even when he should focus on leaving to Stanford" said Naruto as remembered the day when Sasuke shared the good news he was accepted and his chance to get far away from his father.
"My brother the saint and worry wart" chuckled Itachi, "He's a good friend, and honestly I don't know how to ever repay him in this life" said Naruto with a light smile.
"I think knowing that his friend is alive and well with a roof over his head would be comforting enough and ease his mind" said Itachi before Naruto got a text letting him know Sasuke was here.
"Speak of the devil, anyways I'll see you tomorrow sir" said Naruto, "See you tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day, and the next day after that" joked Itachi since Naruto began working full time after graduating.
Days later
After enjoying his last night at the Uchiha house, Naruto had his things packed and ready for him to move out that morning, and was loaded up in Sasuke's car just before he had to be dropped off to work.
Right now both were enjoying an early dinner together as they were enjoying burgers over the setting sun outside the window.
"Thanks for the meal" said Naruto as burped into his mouth as Sasuke had finished paying the bill, but left a very silent worrisome impression.
"You want to let it out before we depart" said Naruto, "This is fucked up beyond words" said Sasuke as he was really hung up about Naruto no longer staying with them.
"Sigh, Sasuke there's nothing we can do about it, your dad made it clear he didn't want me around from the beginning and he has every right to do what he's doing, but that doesn't change the fact you and I are friends till the very end" said Naruto.
"And I know you don't like hearing it or facing the reality, but you're gonna have to come to terms with it, and more importantly I'm going to be fine" said Naruto as Sasuke just lowered his head down in shame and in guilt.
"So stop feeling bad about me, and let's face the future for whatever it lays in store for us" said Naruto as Sasuke looked up to see nothing but determination and hope in Naruto's eyes
It was enough to comfort and ease Sasuke's mind before both went outside and approached his car where Naruto grabbed his things and the 2 hugged it out the night.
Going their separate ways, Naruto walked the streets and kept to himself till he could find himself a nice quiet alley to himself where he could call it a night.
Unrolling his sleeping bag and keeping his backpack close and secure, Naruto was ready to turn in and brace himself for tomorrow.
Though unfortunately the future and fate had other plans when 2 bums came in the alley waking Naruto up demanding he beat it since he was in their spot.
Defiant and not one to take orders from strangers who had nothing on him, Naruto did what anyone with any self respect and a spine would do and kick their asses.
Unfortunately, this didn't go unnoticed as shortly after the cops arrived to bust all 3 of them.
What transpired next was Naruto spending the next 2 nights in the big house, after he made a phone call to Itachi to let him know of his situation, before heading to the county court house where he was given a slap on the wrist, which included a $2,000 fine.
So on top of being without a home and now most of his money gone, Naruto was finding it hard to come into work, but was at least kind enough to put in his 2 week notice to Itachi, before saying goodbye.
Eventually time and his life seemed to stop moving for him as he felt like nothing he could do would matter anymore before finding himself at the spot where it had all happened that he would say his life went to shit.
It wasn't after he was kicked out the orphanage, or even Fugaku without being given a chance to own his car, him getting arrested for defending himself, it was the moment he was left their all those years ago where his parents ditched him and left him in the care of some asshole caregivers who never cared for him or the other children.
Having no regrets or anything to hold him back, Naruto went to the nearest gas station where he acquired himself 2 gallons of gasoline, some duct tape, and road flares.
Present time
"Well I think you can figure out from there what happened next" said Naruto as Ruby remained in silence after hearing what happened and what eventually lead to the events of now, where if asked, Naruto would argue that never again will he be victimized by any of his past problems and how he had the last laugh.
"So tell me, what happens next for me" asked Naruto as he knew that one of 2 things were going to happen, Ruby was going to push him away and run as fast as she can to either call the cops in the safety of her bedroom, or pretend she never heard or saw him and hope to never run into him again.
"What's going to happen next is that I'm going to tell you a story, that involves me, my mom, my sister" said Ruby as was taking in the situation a lot better and calmly than Naruto would anticipate.
Hey guys, chapter 2 is up and what not, and probably chapter 3 will come around sooner than you or even I know or not, I'm just going with the flow while also thinking hard and reflecting on whatever I write for this story.
