Lies Greed Misery
Disclaimers I don't own Naruto or RWBY or LINKIN PARK, please support any to all official releases.
If Naruto's life was far from a fairy tale, than Ruby's own was far from the perfect dream and fantasy had envisioned when it came to the concept of family, a mother and her child.
The sad part was that this is another sad fact about reality, that is stained relationships between a mother and her child.
And no one knows having a stained relationship with their mother other than Ruby, as evident by her choosing to sulk in her room listening to music, trying to tune out her and her current fling that night.
It was indeed traumatizing to know that not only was her mother was essentially the town whore, but was damn proud of it, but it was more than that to her.
When she wasn't committing infidelity behind her then husbands back, she would make false promises about doing fun things for her and Ruby and Yang to do together.
Examples would be taking her kids over to a friend's place where they had their swinger party in the living room, while the girls were forced to stay locked up in a room with a crappy tv and old game systems, and were forbidden to leave the room, even for the bathroom.
Other times were promised fun times at the beach, for their mom to pick up on guys and get them to treat them to either a free meal or something pricy for their mother at the towns downtown area.
The list goes on really, that it boiled down to Ruby taking everything her mother said into an account to be a lie, which did end her childhood quickly.
Thankfully her dull afternoon came to an end, when she got a text from her sister to come outside so that the 2 of them could go out for dinner.
Once outside, Ruby saw Yang driving her car, since she decided to sell her motorcycle for not only hers but Ruby's safety after serving her tour out the country.
Eventually they were parked outside a diner where the 2 enjoyed a nice meal outside the house.
"So how was dinner kid" asked Yang as she was dipper her fries into her ketchup cup, "Delicious" said Ruby as she had crumbs and food stains on her face, getting a laugh out of Yang.
"What" asked Ruby innocently, "I swear you're just so cute kid, it's adorable" continued to laugh Yang as Ruby began to pout.
"So what's new how's life been treating you" asked Yang, "I seriously can't wait to turn 18 and be out on my own" said Ruby as she didn't bother to sugar coat anything when she was tired of dealing with her mom.
"Look I know mom wasn't the best, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy your teen years when you can" said Yang, "How, by playing video games and eat pizza cause I already do that" Ruby said sarcastically.
"I mean go out to a rock concert, spend a day at the mall, get a boyfriend even" said Yang, "Last time I brought a boy to the house, mom seduced and I caught them both doing it on the couch" said Ruby as she recalled her one and only friend since forever who was boy, was over before she knew it.
"Yeah I'm sorry about that kiddo" said Yang as she completely forgot about that incident, since she was out in the middle of the damn desert in the middle east when she heard of this.
"Come on, let's pay the bill and let's go hang with my girlfriends tonight" said Yang as she began to pull her credit card out her cleavage.
"Yang!" exclaimed Ruby, "What" Yang said innocently before going up to the counter and pay for their meal, before both decided to head back into Yang's car where she began to attach on her prosthetic hand and arm.
Even though Yang and Ruby were glad that she came out alive, the only thing Yang left behind from her service was her arm do to an explosion gone wrong.
"You know prosthetic technology is currently one of the most advance pieces of tech out there right now, we could always get you an arm that's just as good as new" said Ruby.
"It's expensive though, plus I've got no problem losing an arm, so long as this, these, and my hair here remains intact and beautiful" said Yang as she waved over her face and pointed at her bosom before they drove off.
It was moments like these and hearing words like those did Ruby look up to Yang as she wasn't as vane as their mother, she wasn't selfish, compulsively lying, or thinking of new ways to get rich quick, but not for the long run.
If anything, Yang remained a strong positive role model figure for her, since she was beautiful, generous, sincere, and did it with a humble demeanor and attitude.
The Next Day
After leaving school for the day, Ruby went straight home to see a sight she did not expect to see and one she swore that if she saw, she was leaving for good.
"Jesus Fuck, Ruby close the damn door" said Summer as she and some strangers were shooting up heroine, with her words truly showing her true colors.
"Ok, you know what fuck this, I'm leaving" Ruby said angrily before closing the door behind her, before storming into her room, where she began to pack herself enough clothes she can fit into her duffle bag and spare backpack she had lying around, on top of various cords and cables for her phone devices, and anything she had held with true sentimental value, just as Summer enter the room.
"What do you think you're doing young lady" demanded Summer, "What does it look like, I'm getting far away from here and more specifically far away from you" said Ruby angrily.
"Oh no you don't, I'm your mother and therefore your legal guardian" said Summer as she tried to take her daughter's things away, but Ruby proved to be more than resilient.
"You know it wouldn't matter if I were to report the cops about what happened" argued Ruby as her words held merit since letting her leave would mean that shouldn't say a thing as Summer let her take her things and walk past her as she stood outside her doorway.
"And since this is the last time we're going to talk to each other, I want you to know that I've been disappointed with you my whole life, but I know how I felt never mattered" said Ruby, "That's not true" said Summer.
"Seriously, could you just stop with the lies already, I'm sick of hearing them that I'd rather see you choke on them, while swallowing up your greed along with it" Ruby said as she turned to face her mother with hot tears in her eyes so she could get one last look at her, and burn the image of her daughter who sees nothing but a mother who had truly failed her job as a caretaker.
"Goodbye Summer, and I hope you'll finally learn what it's like to suffer in your own misery" said Ruby before storming out the door and down the streets as fast as she can.
Present time
"So what happened next" asked Naruto as he felt sorry for what Ruby had to endured her whole life, "Well, I got a call from one her coworkers that she was found dead a week later, died from a heroin overdose" said Ruby as she looked very sad after retelling what had happened.
"Look I know she wasn't the best mom and probably should've put me up for adoption, but she was my mother and in spite of all of her faults, I can't bring myself to hate her now that she's dead, I can only be honest with her with my feelings and the truth is I'll miss her" said Ruby as she began to wipe away a single tear going down her face.
"Come here kid" Naruto said as he had his arms open so they can hug it out, which Ruby accepted, before pulling away as they began to leave the cemetery.
Walking back down the same roads, Naruto and Ruby still saw that the orphanage was still on fire and that nothing was being done as of yet.
"Seriously, it's been days, where's the firefighters, where's the fucking cops" asked Naruto in exasperation as Ruby stood behind to stare at the ranting blonde.
"What's up Ruby" asked Naruto, "Naruto, I know you admitted for starting the fire, but do you remember anything before or after you were lying down on the field" asked Ruby.
Never really given it any thought, Naruto tried his hardest to remember, but his mind was drawing a blank.
"You know I honestly can't say I remember, it's very fuzzy and white" said Naruto as he was massaging his temples.
"Naruto, I want you to listen to me for a second" said Ruby as Naruto stopped in his tracks.
"There's a reason you and I met, why you and I are here, why you and I have those strong connected, deep rooted memories you and I just shared to each other" said Ruby as Naruto was starting to freak out.
"Ruby, what are you trying to say" asked Naruto as the ever so setting red sky finally had a cloud forecast to reveal something that shocked Naruto.
Alright, chapter 3 is done, and I think that's as far as I'm gonna go in terms of publishing chapters today and work on something else.
Also thank you guys for the ever so continuing support I really appreciate it, so along with adding this story to your list of fave and follows, leave me your thoughts on what you're thinking about the story so far, cause I know that this chapter may hit home with some people, since I can relate to having a not so perfect relationship with parents as well, but like Yang I'm the eldest and it's my job to keep my brothers happy cause they do look up to me as the boss.
This has been your Humble Narrator Tobi Yaza.
