Skin to Bone

In an instant, Naruto had witnessed that upon being under the shadow of the sun, Ruby was revealed to be more pale than usual, her shirt and sweater had been covered in blood as do to the fact there was a hole in her eye that went through the back of her head.
"What the hell are you" said Naruto as he back away in fear, "I'm dead, just like you and everyone else" said Ruby calmly as Naruto began to look down at his hands.
His jacket was practically been destroyed and torn with bits of it fused to his burnt skin, which was black and scabby as Naruto screamed in horror.
"Naruto, you need to calm down" said Ruby as she was reaching out to him, "Get the hell away from me" said Naruto before the overshadow went away, as Naruto saw his body went back to normal under the sunlight.
Before Ruby could get in another word, Naruto began to make a mad run far away from Ruby.
As Naruto was running, he tried to find a logical reason behind his skin turned to bone like it just did right now, before Naruto notice that the same cloud that caused that overcast went over the street next to him.
Instantly he saw steel turned to rust on the fences, on the cars, on the street signs, while the asphalt and concrete streets turned to dust to dust out of disrepair and poor maintenance.
Because Naruto was distracted, Naruto didn't see it when he ran face first smacked into a street lamp, before he fell back on his ass.
"Ow" groaned Naruto as he rested his hand over his aching face, as he heard the sounds of footsteps approaching him.
"You alright" asked Ruby, "Fantastic" Naruto said sarcastically as he began to sat back up.
"Look I get that what you just experienced was scary, and trust me it was the same thing for me as well" said Ruby as she gave a hand to Naruto in order to get back up.
"Alright, so I'm dead and so are you, my question remains now where are we and why the hell are we here" asked Naruto.
"From what I was able to figure out, this is neither heaven or hell, yet we don't need to rest, eat, or drink water, but more importantly we can't die here" said Ruby.
"What makes you so sure" asked Naruto, "Other than the fact behind all this I have a hole in my head, I did some experimenting on my own" said Ruby.
Not wanting to know what Ruby meant by experimenting, Naruto decided to roll with it.
"Ok, so what happens now" asked Naruto as he still felt uncomfortable around Ruby, "We go back to the scene that had lead to your death, and something tells me we'll find it by going to that orphanage" said Ruby.
While reluctant to go back and show his face, Naruto didn't have much options in terms of not only getting out of here, plus he is curious to know how he did die and wound up here.
As they began to walk, Naruto began to collect his thoughts before he could continue questioning Ruby.
"So how did you die if you don't mind me asking" asked Naruto, "Remember how I mentioned that my mom had fast company over the day I decided to disown and leave her behind" said Ruby.
"Yeah" said Naruto, "Well they didn't exactly trust me when they over heard us yelling and how I'd threaten to get the cops involved, if my mom didn't let me walk out then and now, so after forcibly killing my mom with a heroin overdose, they came looking for me, where they got the jump on me and my sister" said Ruby.
"Oh gee, um sorry for asking" said Naruto as he knew how important Yang was to Ruby, since she sounded just as great like Sasuke and his brother.
"Is she…" trailed on Naruto as he was dragging out a question knew he was to ask, "Dead? Honestly I don't know, I haven't seen her here, so I can assume she's alive" said Ruby optimistically.
"She did survive a grenade blast, so I'm pretty sure it'll take a lot more to take her down" said Naruto trying to make Ruby feel better as she began to smirk.
"Damn straight" cheered Ruby, before at long last both were at the end of the block where the redundantly labeled orphaned orphans and their care givers stood out on the street looking at the still burning orphanage.
"You ready to find out how you died" asked Ruby, "Actually, I've been meaning to ask, how did you came to realizing that you died" asked Naruto.
"Like you, I found myself lying on my sisters bed with no memory prior to how I got there to begin with and for like 10 days I just lied there in bed, not moving and just watching time passed by on her digital wall clock, before deciding to get out of bed" said Ruby.
"Eventually, I found myself wondering my sisters and her friends place, trying to find them, and when I couldn't I went to every possible location she could've been, before her going to my mom's for the last time, where I promptly found her lying dead on the living room floor with 3 needles of heroin injected into her veins" continued Ruby.
"At that moment I was scared and confused when I ran towards to check her body to see a pulse, before I was given a vision, or better said memories that had transpired to her forced drug overdose, to her friends looking for me, before putting a bullet in my head, and after the whole ordeal, my mother's body began to fade away, leaving me more confused" said Ruby.
"Ok, but if your mother just disappeared like that, than how can her body be buried at the cemetery, that doesn't make sense" asked Naruto as he was clearly confused.
"Naruto, I've been here for a little over a month now trying to look for answers to all these questions I have, and that also include exploring the area, and during my visit at the cemetery for the first time around, that's how I was able to find my mother's grave, before I took a week to reflect on how I felt about her and decided to bury the hatchet where I met you at long last" said Ruby.
"Hold on, that only leaves me with more questions now" said Naruto, "I'll answer them all later on, for now get your ass in that burning building already so we can figure out how'd you die already" said Ruby as she was tired of answer questions and began to push the blonde towards blazed inferno that was once an orphanage.
As Naruto was approaching closer, he realized that the faces of not only the caregivers, but the children's were all blank with nothing on it.
Alright, now I really want to know what the hell kind of mess I got myself into, thought Naruto as the number of questions continued to rise, and he knew the only way he was going to ever get answers were was by first knowing how he died in the first place.
So there you guys go, a major plot twist which granted was pretty obvious, but I find it that the most obvious ones are the best way to tell a story with a simple message.
Don't know if I'll post another one today or not, but whatever you know, did say updates are unorthodox and what not.
