Phoenix, I'm going to say Stan and Luna had triplets because SEVEN kids is a lot of accidents.

Lucy and Res, Parker and Kestrel don't share a surname since they aren't married because they're in college.

All awesome OCs and incredible people! Anyway, challenge time.

Challenge 4: Humanized
"Parker!" Crystal Flite whisper-shouted at her friend, Parker Fang. They shared a dorm, along with Kestrel Poole, Parker's boyfriend, and some students from their year - in Warrior University, Fallen City - that she didn't know that well.

"What do you want…?" Parker half opened his eyes, which were blurred with sleep.

"Wanna go somewhere?" She was already dressed, ready to leave. She was even wearing her old, worn out black Nike Airs, and her pale blue mask.

"Where? And why? It's pouring rain." Parker seemed more awake, but still ready to go back to sleep at moment's notice.

"Exactly! And we can get something hot to drink!"

"Like coffee?"

Crystal made a face. "If you want. I still don't know why you have that." Call her tastes childish but coffee was too bitter, she'd never liked it and - maybe, just maybe, it was stubbornness - she wasn't about to start now.

"The caffeine boost." Parker replied, still whispering, burying his head under the sheets. "Which I really need right now, since you woke me up on a saturday when I intended to sleep until half past eight."

"There's caffeine in Coke too! Also it's heavily addictive. Plus coffee tastes gross." She saw he was about to say something to defend coffee, so she cut in before they could have another argument about that. "I'll have a hot chocolate and you can have your damn coffee. Get dressed, I'll wait for you outside."

Parker had the nerve to smile like he'd won their little banter.

Crystal tip-toed out, careful not to wake anyone else. She held back a loud, ugly swear word as she caught her foot on a bed, and flinched the door creaked when she opened it. She waited for a few minutes while her friend got ready. It was still early, maybe 7 AM, but the rain had made her wake up and she knew she'd never manage to get back to sleep.

Finally, Parker emerged, hair messy and bordeau mask on crooked, but no other indication that just minutes ago, he'd been laying in bed. He was sheltering under a small, multi-coloured umbrella.

"Where should we go?" Crystal asked, voice muffled by the fabric. She'd just woken him up, so he should get to choose.

"Luny Cafe," Parker said immediately. Luny Cafe was owned by Stan Leafe, and the name was a bad pun referencing his friend (and the mother of his triplets) Luna. Luna - looney: Luny. Bad puns. She gave him a small shove.

"Again?"

"He has the best cappuccino!"

Crystal snorted. "Of course." She didn't mind, Luny Cafe was also the one with the most whipped cream on top of the hot chocolate. "Let's go!"

Parker didn't offer to share the umbrella. Crystal loved the rain, and he knew it. The hood on her coat was thrown back, letting her hair get wet and the drops drip down her face.

Annie and Dan Leffay, from the retired folk's home Old Cat's Den, walked by, a huge grey umbrella held over their heads, and Waitrose bags hung over them everywhere; they'd probably been getting groceries. They gave Crystal a few weird stares before continuing.

Crystal ignored them and pranced on through the rain while Parker looked on, seeming slightly amused.

Finally, they arrived at Luny Cafe. They chose a table.

A little kid, probably about five years old, came up to them. "Are you hungry?" She squeaked in a cute voice. Crystal wanted nothing more than to hug her until she exploded - not literally of course.

"Nope, just thirsty," Parker corrected.

"Hi Thirsty, I'm Falcon!" She yelled before running off towards the counter and disappearing behind it.

"I'm ready to bet everything I have, down to the last penny, that she's one of Leafe's triplets," Crystal laughed.

Parker looked shocked. This was the worst dad joke ever - not that he'd heard many - and he was stunned that anyone actually used it. "Definitely," was all he managed to say.

"Until someone serious comes to take our order, we could chat some?" Crystal suggested, nudging him to try and wake him up.

They'd become friends back in middle school. They weren't the same age, but they'd ended up in the same class when Parker was held back a few years, because of an injury that had refused to heal and prevented him from going to school. From then, they'd been inseparable best friends. The highlight: their gossip sessions. They'd share all the information on anyone in Fallen City and make often inaccurate guesses about what whoever would do next and how another person would react to that.

Parker's eyes suddenly sparkled. "Oh, yes."

"Did you see Cedric Light and Patrick Otti from Apprentice School?" Apprentice School was the high school, which also had elementary and middle school classes. Crystal paused, suddenly confused, then came to a realisation and facepalmed. "I'm so stupid. I only just realised that their names rhyme! Either way, did you see them?"

"Of course," her friend said, getting excited. "I'd have to be blind, deaf, and stupid not to notice!"

Crystal gave a small squeal. "How about a ship name?"

Parker looked alarmed. "Not another one of those!" he groaned.

Ignoring him, she went on. "Ced… Rick? Cedrick? But that's basically Cedric's name! Ugh." She reshuffled the syllables in her mind. "Um… Patdric?"

That made Parker laugh. "It's even worse! I suggest Padric."

"Nice! And I know Aquila and Cinder are official, but I can't believe we don't have a name for them! Any more brilliant ideas?"

"Er… It's harder with a three-syllable name."

It was a terrible excuse, but Crystal let it slide. "Maybe Aquinder?"

"That's a bit of a mouthful. How about…" Parker shook his head. "You know what, I can't come up with a better one." It really wasn't that funny but they both burst out laughing after an awkward moment of silence.

Lily Polsh, one of the students at their college who had a part-time job at the cafe, walked up to them with her phone in hand right in the middle of an almost hysterical laughing fit between Crystal and Parker. Unfazed, without looking up, thumbs poised to type out their order, she asked. "What will you two have?"

"Hot chocolate!" Crystal didn't waste a second. "With lots of whipped cream." Lightning fast, Lily's thumbs flew across the phone's keyboard. That wasn't unusual for Gen Z, the generation whose phones were practically part of their hands. Crystal's was in the back pocket of her jeans, actually, and Parker's was poking out from inside his coat, which he'd draped over the chair.

"And a cappuccino!" Parker added, equally enthusiastic. As Lily took the order and walked away, Crystal gave a sad shake of her head.

"Why a cappuccino, Parker?" She said theatrically, with a lot more drama than needed. "Why?"

"Cause cappuccinos are-" He stopped there and proceeded to make a bad chef's kiss. Crystal pointed and laughed exaggeratedly, and he joined in, realising the gesture was a little ridiculous.

"So," Crystal began breathlessly. "A lot of the Apprentice kids seem to be paired for life, don't they?"

"Yeah," Parker agreed. "But there's loads of people there who don't even seem to have a crush."

"Blossom, for example." Blossom Pawe was a great friend to Crystal, despite the age difference.

"Um, yeah… Definitely. Her too."

Parker was really bad at lying - or maybe, after all those years, Crystal could just read him like an open book. Whichever one it was, he was keeping something from her. Had Blossom told him something she hadn't told her? No, she wouldn't.

In an attempt to continue the now terribly awkward conversation - or, presently, lack thereof - Crystal changed the subject. "So I heard that Stan Leafe, y'know, the guy who owns this place? Well apparently," she leaned in confidentially. "Even though he and your sister agreed to stay just friends even after she became pregnant, he actually likes her - as in like that."

"No way." Parker waved his hand dismissively.

"Yes way! Insane right?"

"What the fuck will Luna say if she finds out?" He winced. "I feel sorry for the poor guy."

Crystal murmured assent as a waiter that she didn't recognize under his red-and-black hoody put a tray down on their table with what they'd ordered and the bill.

Crystal plunged her spoon into the hot chocolate and moved it in circles, delighting in seeing the cream swirl and melt into the chocolate.

Parker was splitting open a pack of sugar and pouring the entire thing into his coffee, twirling it around a little before drinking half the cup in one go. Maybe he'd finish it quickly and the smell would go, or at least Crystal hoped so.

"What do you think of Argenta Starr? The mayor, you know." Crystal paused. "She's different to Ashton Soar." Soar had been the last mayor, before Starr. She hoped she'd prompted him into the right direction with that last sentence, because she didn't want to seem like she wanted to compare them - even though she did.

Parker seemed to consider carefully. "She's very calm all the time. Don't know how she does it."

Crystal laughed a little before swallowing a spoonful of hot chocolate and whipped cream. She drank the rest and scraped out the bottom in silence as Parker finished his coffee. It wasn't one of the dreaded "awkward silences". It was a comfortable, refreshing quiet.

Parker checked his phone. "Oh fuck," he said. "I've got twenty minutes to get ready and get to class! I have to go, sorry Crystal." He shoved his arms through his coat hurriedly and zipped it up so quickly that some fabric got stuck. "Ah shit!"

His friend watched him struggle with a poker face that was beginning to crack. "It's fine," she said. "I can even come with you to the room, my first class isn't until this afternoon."

"Thanks!" Parker said. "There'll be Kes there too."

Crystal suddenly changed her mind, hiding a small smile. "Actually I just remembered, I have to call Nix Aube, from Apprentice High, about the French tutoring," she lied smoothly, sounding apologetic. "I'll just walk back to the Warrior dorm with you and then I'll call her."

Truth be told, she didn't have to call Nix until tomorrow, but she didn't want to be the third wheel. Plus, Kestrel and Parker might want some alone time… Either way, she could go see Blossom, since it was saturday and the Apprentice kids didn't have classes on weekends - probably what Crystal missed most about school. And maybe sketch something on the way.

Done! Finally. I would feel like shit if I didn't write at all when I couldn't post ha.
