When Banjo opened the door, he saw something he thought was nearly extinct in their home. A woman wearing a business jacket, black skirt, and shades was at their doorstep. She looked startled to see who opened the door.

"Oh, a new species? Tell me, where is your host family?" the woman asked Banjo.

"Host family? I don't know what you mean ma'am." replied Banjo.

"Why aren't you two part of the extraspecies program?"

"Ma'am me and my buddy arrived here through a spell from our archnemesis and honestly have no idea what you are talking about." Banjo answered. "That said, we'd like to hear what you mean by extraspecies program as me and my buddy think we might need to sign up for such a program to get back to our world. After all, we usually find ourselves in some crazy adventure before the powers that be declared guys in green suits and real life cars more realizable than us."

"Wait, you two aren't even from around here? My squad indicated a house randomly appeared in this neighborhood but then again, houses normally don't appear in a flash of colors."

"Maybe we should start with introductions. I'm Banjo and this is my buddy Kazooie." Banjo said, indicating his Breegull friend.

"Your friend... is a bird and lives in a backpack? Is that normal where you are from?" the woman asked.

"More normal than you, shady lady!" Kazooie snarked.

'Hmm... bit of a loud mouth'. The woman thought. "Anyways, my name is Kuroko Smith, cultural exchange coordinator and leader of MON."

"MON?" Banjo asked.

"Not important right now. Anyways, I represent Japan's cultural exchange program for extraspecies."

"Japan?!" Both Banjo and Kazooie said at the same time. "There's no such place in our world."

"Interesting, then I guess whatever brought you here must've destroyed dimensional boundaries. Maybe you two should join the program, perhaps with two out of this world people such as yourselves, we can make integration of all extraspecies even more efficient." Ms. Smith said, giving off a chuckle as she said it.

'Hmm... I wonder if this extraspecies program is the key to finding the Jiggies me and Kazooie need to go home' Banjo thought to himself.

"Ma'am, can you give me and Kazooie a moment to discuss this?" Banjo said turning back inside.

"If you do, mind being quick? I got other clients I may need to sign up today." Smith said.

"Noted." Banjo said before closing the door a peek.

"Kazooie I think we should sign up for this program." Banjo said bluntly.

"Are you joking? We don't know anything about this place yet you are making us sign up for something ridiculous as learning about other species?" Kazooie questioned her friends' sanity.

"Here's my thinking, each new adventure usually has us perform some crazy tasks in order to collect Jiggies? What if this program is that task? It also allows us a way to blend in until we can start hunting the Jiggies for real."

"Fine, sign up for the silly program. I just hope whatever we get is small and easy."

Banjo stepped back outside and saw Ms. Smith on a strange device. Banjo wondered what it was for before she put it away.

"Well Ma'am, me and Kazooie think this program should be beneficial to us."

"Excellent." Ms. Smith said, a glimmer of light in her glasses appearing briefly before she pulled out the device again.

"Alright boys, I found a new host. Let's begin renovations for their first extraspecies"

"Renovating? Uh, Ms. Smith, me and Kazooie are curious. How are we supposed to pay for these renovations considering our story?" Banjo asked.

"Hmm... that is true. The government pays for all renovations for those in the extraspecies program so that isn't a issue. However, how else can you live here if you have no money?" Ms. Smith answered.

As if on cue, Kazooie popped out of the backpack and answered back "With this" showing a musical note.

"Kazooie, where did you find this?"

"It was in my backpack when we fell into this world. Strange especially since computer brain didn't mention we'd need notes to find the Jiggies."

"Is that note... solid gold?" Smith suddenly asked and looked as though she found real gold. "I'll give you 200,000 yen for it!"

"That seems like a large number." Banjo answered. "Why would the common currency from where we're from be worth such a high number? Also, what is a yen?"

"Here, gold is worth quite a lot and can be exchanged for a lot of stuff. And the yen is the currency here" answered Ms. Smith. "Do we have a deal?"

"Sure we do, boss lady." Kazooie answered, handing over the note.

"Thank you very much, I'll ensure the 200,000 yen gets to you before your first exchange species arrives." Smith said, pocketing the golden musical piece. "One final question, what are these Jiggies your loudmouth companion mentioned?"

Banjo gulped, knowing the only way out was honesty. "You see, me and Kazooie received a letter from someone very important in our world detailing how we get home. What we need are golden puzzle pieces, which we refer to as a Jiggy."

"You mean like this one?" Smith said, pulling out a golden puzzle piece.

"I don't believe it! How did she get her hands on our ticket out of here?!" Kazooie squawked.

"After the light show that apparently brought you here ended, I saw this lying by my feet and pocketed it. So you two need these to get home, how does that work?"

Banjo ran inside, grabbed the blank picture and showed it to Ms. Smith. "If we can find all the Jiggies located around the world, the picture will fill completely, allowing me and Kazooie to return home."

"Your world runs on some unique logic. Hopefully it doesn't come back to haunt us." Ms Smith answered. "Oh yeah before I forget" Suddenly from out of thin air, Ms. Smith pulled out a pen and a piece of paper. "Boring legal stuff, nothing too exciting here."

Banjo sighed as he and Kazooie looked over the contract. It had a bunch of things Banjo was (understandably) nervous about, however he realized this must be how people do things here, grabbed the pen and signed his name, Kazooie following with her name below Banjo's.

Ms. Smith grabbed the contract from them and smiled. "Thanks for signing up, your cultural exchange program identification cards will arrive shortly. In addition, we will be sending a construction crew to work on your house to accommodate your first extraspecies, along with a few extras for standard living in Japan. We'll keep the portrait unhindered, especially since it appears the Jiggy I had attached itself to the picture. Hope we are able to communicate again soon." Ms. Smith as she walked back to her vehicle.

"Do you think this might've been foolish Banjo?"

"I sure hope not Kazooie, but why do I get the feeling our choice is gonna get us into a lot of crazy adventures?"
