I have to find a mirror or something that shows reflection. A few feet away is a puddle, I run to the puddle and look into it. It is looking right back at me...

...with its adorable blue eyes, pointy ears, whiskers, and a cute rosy pink nose.

I am a cute little white kitten. Just a bloody kitten with a slash on her face.

Now what? Should I go hunt down Conan or wait here until Kaito appears? If I am not wrong, Kaito doesn't appear until around seventy episodes later.

"Time to go on a Conan hunt. Where does he live again? Wait! I CAN STILL TALK? THIS IS A MIRACLE! I CAN STILL TALK TO MY KAIT- but wouldn't a talking cat freak him out? But, he's been involved with witches and pandora so a talking cat shouldn't be much of a surprise. "

Suddenly, a tingling sensation and rumbles emit from my stomach.

"Food... Where can I find decent food?"

Walking out of the amusement park and further down, I reach alleys of stray cats digging for food in the garbage. The smell is not appealing. Oh well. I won't die from starvation after just one day. I find a clean looking box from the garbage pile and try to sleep in it. However, before I can fall asleep, someone or something is hissing like a snake. Lifting one of my heavy eyelids, a gray cat with black spots come into view.

"Go away..." I mumble.

It then lets out an irritated meow. Even though I am now a cat, it doesn't seem like I understand cat language.

"GO AWAY! I WANT TO SLEEP!"

But screaming at the cat did no good. It lunges at me with its long claws. I close my eyes, waiting for the claws to hit my fur and into my flesh. I flinch when it hit me. Pain immediately signals my brain that I need to do something quick before the cat strikes again. I get up and run for my life without hesitation. When I turn back to see the cat, it is peeing into the box to mark his territory.

Wow. The cat would not even let go one cardboard box. I can barely survive the competition of geniuses in school, now it seems like cats are even harder to fight.

Giving up on a cardboard box, I curl up in the cold cemented streets and fall fast asleep.

Everything is in a bright orange. It is warm and cozy. It feels like I'm back snuggling in my blanket at home. With a smile on my face, I eagerly open up my eyes to find the horrifying reality, not a dream.

It is morning. The sun is shining right at the place where I fell asleep last night and I am still a cat. My Kaito is still nowhere to be found. I have no idea where Conan is. And if I want to date Kaito, I NEED TO BE IN HUMAN FORM! IN OTHER WORDS, I NEED THE ANTIDOTE!

Ughh... This is frustrating. Soon, my grumbling stomach interrupts my thoughts.

"Oh yeah... food..."

Just after finishing the sentence, a middle-aged woman is passing by me with her grocery bag full. I decide to grab her attention, for the first time, with a meow. A pleading meow. Sure enough, the woman turns to see me and puts on a sympathetic face. She reaches into her bag of groceries.

YES, FOOD! FINALLY!

Or not.

It is a can of cat food.

I am a cat but, I am not a cat. Anyways, I give her another thanking meow in reply and she walks away. I guess she has other cats to feed or else there won't be cat food in her grocery bag. With my little pink nose, I push the cat food to a safe little corner on the street to avoid any other cats interfering with my breakfast. The cat world is not as cute as it seems. It is equally brutal... maybe even crueler than the human's world. I hook onto the can's tab with my little claw and forces it open.

I regret opening it.

The reeking smell of fish hit my nose like the explosion of a fart bomb.

I hate fish.

Why fish.

Great.

This is just great.

Oh, well. Better to have a bite than starve until I don't know when.

AND I NEED TO BE ALIVE IN ORDER TO MEET KAITO!

Staring down once again at the messy can of "food", I muster up the courage to face it. Trying not to breathe, I dive my head into the can.

Another bad idea.

Now, my entire face smells horrible.

I lick a chunk of I-don't-know-what off the edge of my mouth. It tastes worse than it smells.

Out of complete hopelessness, I wobble away. I can barely stand. My stomach once again makes a call for food. My legs soon give up and I lay flat on the cold street. Helpless. I can't stand hunger when I'm used to four meals a day. I have to conserve energy.

WHY THE AM I NOT A LITTLE CHILD! WHY A CAT! IF I WAS A CHILD, I COULD'VE GOTTEN HUMAN FOOD! THIS IS NOT FAIR! WHY IS KUDO SHINICHI A CHILD AND I'M A HELPLESS HOPELESS CAT!

Out of frustration, I let out a huge meow and catches a little boy's attention.

My blue eyes glitter with hope. I give him a cute meow, hoping he would somehow help me. But when I look into his eyes, I sense something different. Different than the help I wanted. A grin spreads across his face. I know this grin anywhere. It's a grin of a child up to no good. No good at all.

I get up to run for my life. Children are dangerous. The boy grabs my tail and yanks me back towards him. I take out my sharp claws to defend myself. I tried to scratch him somehow but he throws me into a nearby bush and yells, "GOAL!"

My left foot and right arm is bleeding. A cut is made from the sharp twigs in the bush. I have to get out before he comes looking for me. Too late. Another yank on my tail. The boy runs a few feet away from the bush and gives me another toss. Flying like a Frisbee, I end up smacking right onto a wall. A crack from one of my bones can be heard. This kid clearly does not know how to aim. I'm hungry and every inch of my little kitty body hurts. Another yank. This time, with my bleeding right arm, I curl up so I will be able to reach his hand that is holding onto my tail. I reach deep into his skin. Get infected, you little demon. He lets out a scream for him mommy and drops me to the ground. Great God. I'm saved.

The mother of the kid comes running to her crying child. Or crying demon.

"The bad kitty scratched my hand..." he whines while squeezing tears from his eyes.

"Oh my god. I told you not to play with stray cats. They are dirty! Come on let's go home."

Play. That is not called playing. It's called murdering. Animal abuse. With my right arm and bleeding legs, I drag my heavy broken arm across the cemented ground like a caterpillar. I hide under the bush he threw me into and scream, "YOU WILL PAY FOR THIS!"

A smile runs across my face. Much better. Without any more thoughts, my eyelid slowly closes. The pain takes over my entire body. Is this the end? Will I not be able to see my Kaito anymore? That's right, I haven't even seen him once yet...

Voices of children bring me back to my senses. These senses remind me of the pain I have suffered because of that little boy. I refuse to open my eyes. Children these days are mad brutal to little animals like me. But their voices sound so familiar. I can hear a boy, a girl, and another boy. They are saying something about a poor cat and hope it feels better soon.

Curious about the familiar voices, I open my eyes. At first, it is nothing more than a blurry view but then things become clear. Three kids. One with freckles, one with a headband, and one with a bald spot on his head. Wait. These kids are Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya, Ayumi Yoshida, and Genta Kojima. Detective boys huh... wait...

I widen my eyes, CONAN! WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU! WE NEED TO GET THIS STRAIGHT. WHY ARE YOU A KID AND I'M A CAT THAT IS BEING THROWN AROUND!

The detective boys see me wide awake and are glad to explain how they found me under the bush while they were playing hide and seek.

I am in a comfortable basket with soft covers and bandages around my wounds. My left arm is tied in a way so that it hangs from my neck. Oh yeah. I broke my bone.

In reply to the kids' enthusiasm, I give them a happy meow, indicating that I am better now and another meow for thank you.

Then Ayumi seems to have remembered something, "Oh, Professor Agasa said we should give you this warm bottle of milk." Ayumi reaches for the bottled milk on the table next to her and carries me in her arms to feed me.

"Kawaiii~," says the group when I start nibbling the bottle for milk.

Milk was never my favorite. Especially warm milk. It is soggy. But it is better than that cat food.

But this is weird. This is Agasa's house, where's Agasa? Conan would be at Ran's place though or be at some crime scene dealing with a corpse and a murderer. He is a death magnet after all.

Mitsuhiko suddenly starts speaking, interrupting my thoughts, "Professor Agasa saved your life! He fixed your injuries. He went out to get some snacks for us since we have been here every day after school waiting for you to wake up. Did you know that you have been sleeping for 4 days now? We were worried that you might not be able to make it."

"But I'm so glad kitty was able to be with us. She's so adorable" says Ayumi.

"I wish Professor Agasa would get me eels for a snack," says Genta with his mouth drooling.

"Genta!" screams both Ayumi and Mitsuhiko at the same time.

"We are here talking about the kitty and you are thinking about food," scolds Mitsuhiko.

"I know right," agrees Ayumi.

"Hehe... Can't help it. I was worried about kitty, but now I'm hungry."

Everyone sweat drops at Genta's comment.

With his index finger pointing upwards, Mitsuhiko points out an idea, "why don't we give kitty a name? We can't call her kitty forever."

"Ahh... That's a great idea!" Exclaims Ayumi.

"But what should we name her?" Mitsuhiko has his hands on his chin, deep in thought.

"I know! Ao! Because her eyes are bright blue!"

I finish drinking my milk and give a meow in agreement.

The Detective boys agree with the name and a sudden clang can be heard in the front door.

The door swishes open with a chubby man in a long-sleeved blue shirt standing in the hallway. He has round glasses and gray hair. He should be Professor Agasa. He is loaded with bags of treats in his arms.

The Detective boys give him their greetings and told him how I have woken up and they named me Ao.

He gives me a comforting smile and digs into his bag of treats. He takes out the exact can of cat food the middle-aged woman gave me.

Eww.

Is this suppose to be the best cat food in the world?

I'm fine with that messy look, but the smell...

I can't stand it.

Professor Agasa opens the can of cat food and puts it right in front of me.

Once again. The smell hits my face and in reply, I give it a look of disgust.

Professor Agasa notices how I am not eating while the other kids are eating ice cream and chips.

I envy them.

Professor Agasa comes over and crouches down to examine me.

"You should be hungry after four days. Why aren't you eating?"

Ayumi says, "Ao-chan already drank a bottle of milk."

Saved. No cat food for me!

After the kids finished their snacks, they went home and said they would come to see me tomorrow.

Once they left and Agasa is cleaning up, he says, "Ao-kun, why don't you look around the house? If there aren't any posters for a missing cat for the next few weeks, I don't mind having a companion."

"Meeow(Okay)" Without any hesitation, I jump into my exploration mode.

Here's a list of my findings :

bathroom

bedroom

living room? Can't tell because it is full of weird inventions.

Kitchen?

The rest, I just can't tell.

This chubby man is weird with a useful brain. Unlike me who is weird with no brain. My tiny legs are sore from exploring such a huge house. I went back to my little warm basket and falls fast asleep.

ZZZZZZZZZZZ... CLANK CLANK. BZZZZZZZZZZZ. CLACK. BOOOOOMMM!

The series of loud noises bring me back to reality and away from my sweet dreams.

Agasa is the source of the noises.

Smoke soon fills the air and my lungs. My lungs reject the smoke, plunging me into heavy coughing.

My vision gets blurry and my eyes start to produce tears because of the smoke.

Professor Agasa, after opening the windows, are on his fours. The view is more clear down to the bottom.

I can hear a boy's voice screaming, "Professor Agasa!"

Agasa replies, "Hehe. Sorry, Shinichi."

I flinch at the name Shinichi. Anger boils within me and I burst out, "KUDO SHINICHI! I'M GONNA KILL YOU! THIS IS JUST UNFAIR!"

The moment my last words came out of my mouth, the smoke cleared.

Conan is only a few feet away from me, so is Agasa. They both look at my direction with wide eyes and the word 'confusion' written all over their faces.

I think I just spoke... no. Screamed. While I'm still a kitten.

But hey, it seems like I can speak Japanese and they understood... Wait. Didn't the Detective Boys speak English this whole time? Did I gain some kind of language ability after I came here? Oh well, good to know that communication won't be a problem.
