"Since your birthday is almost over, is there anything else you want to do?" Rapunzel asked Eugene as they walked through town. She always wanted his birthdays to be special. She loved him more than anything in the world and wanted him to be happy.

"I just want to spend it with you. It doesn't matter what we do." he said pulling her closer to him. They walked to the gates and through the castle to the royal garden. In the garden was a bench under a tree that the couple liked to sit. Eugene sat down first and Rapunzel sat next to him and held his hand.

"Did you have a good day?" Rapunzel asked, resting her head on his shoulder.

"Any day spent with you is a good day. I love you so much, Sunshine." replied Eugene as he put his arm around her. She smiled and closed her eyes. Being with Eugene was the thing that made her happy. And to think, her parents didn't approve of him when they first got together. They kept a close eye on him until they saw how much he loved her. She then remembered she had something to tell him.

"Eugene, can I tell you something?" she asked curiously.

"Of course you can, Sweetheart." he said.

"Ok well... uh...," she struggled to find the right words to say, "...you're going to be a father." she finally managed to get out. Eugene looked like he was about to pass out. He was paler than the marble the castle was made of.

When he finally was able to speak again, he said "I'm going to be a father. We're going to have a family, you and me." He took Rapunzel's hands, looked her in the eyes, and smiled. A few tears streamed down his face. Rapunzel knew they were tears of joy. Eugene has always talked about having a family. Their dream was finally coming true.

"I'm guessing you're happy with the news." Rapunzel said jokingly.

"Are you kidding? It's the best news I've ever received. I love you, Sunshine." Eugene said pulling her into a kiss. "This is the best birthday present I could've ever gotten. Thank you."

"It wasn't all me you know? You helped." she told him while she brushed a leaf off of his shoulder. "It's getting late. We should probably go to bed. We all the sleep we can get before this baby arrives." she added. Eugene stood up and locked arms with Rapunzel. Together, they walked back to their room and changed their clothes. They got in bed and fell asleep as soon as they were comfortable.

3 weeks later

Eugene was sleeping when he heard his wife groan. He knew what that meant. He jumped out of bed and brought a bucket to the other side of the bed. Despite being very excited for the baby, Rapunzel didn't like the symptoms of pregnancy very much. The morning sickness was her least favorite, though she hated all of it. She tried looking at the bright side which was that soon, she would have a family of her own. Eugene helped out as best he could though he didn't know how bad it was for Rapunzel. This morning sickness has been going on for over two weeks. Every morning, she felt extremely nauseous. Nothing that the doctor prescribed seemed to help her.

"Eugene, wake me up when the baby is here." she said, laying back down.

"Is it that bad?" Eugene asked as he sat beside her.

"Yes. I know it will be over eventually but I don't know how much longer I can take it." she told him.

"Well, whatever you need, I'll be here. And if anyone can get through this, it's you. You're the strongest person I know." He moved some hair from her face and kissed her forehead. She turned and looked at him.

"You really know how to make a woman feel special, don't you?" she asked.

"When it's you, I do. I love you, Rapunzel." he said, moving his hand over hers.

"I love you too, Eugene. Now come on. It's a beautiful day and I don't want to waste it." She pulled him off the bed and gave him a quick kiss before heading into the closet to change.
