The Alexander Chronicles Year 4: The Return of Darkness.
Chapter 37: The Beginning of the War.
When he looked back, even a month later, Alex found that he didn´t remember much of the days following Voldemort´s return. The recollections he did have were very painful. The worst, perhaps, was the meeting with the Diggorys that took place the following morning.
They had visited him and Harry in the Hospital during lunchtime. Alex had been scared at first, fearing they would blame him for Cedric´s death. After all he and Alex hadn´t been friends, so what if they thought that he had killed Cedric.
However they did not blame Alex for what had happened; on the contrary, both thanked him and Harry for returning Cedric's body to them. Mr. Diggory sobbed through most of the interview. Mrs. Diggory's grief seemed to be beyond tears.
"He suffered very little then," she said, when Harry had told her how Cedric had died. "And after all, Amos…he died just when he'd won the tournament. He must have been happy."
When they got to their feet, she looked down at Harry and Alex and said, "You look after yourselves, now."
Alex seized the sack of gold on the bedside table. "You take this," he muttered to her. "It should've been Cedric's. He was the real Hogwarts champion, not me."
But she backed away from him. "Oh no, it's yours, dear, I couldn't…you keep it. Spend it on something good."
Harry left the Hospital Wing the following evening; Alex had to be there for a week. The days wasn´t bad, he had visitors there, his girlfriend would of course be there a lot, but the rest of his friends from the Slytherin house would also spend time with him, as would his Gryffindor friends, and Erik Jensen and Mellissa Robinson from Ravenclaw and Susan Bones from Hufflepuff. No the days wasn´t bad. However, the nights was. There he was alone, alone with his thoughts. When he tried to sleep, he would had nightmares, about Voldemort, Cedric´s dead body, his grandfather´s death and of him killing his uncle. It would cause Alex to wake up with a yelp, covered in cold sweat. Madam Pomfrey had noticed and she and Alex had talked about what had happened.
Dumbledore had also been there, just after Harry had left, and wanted Alex to tell him his version of the story of what happened in the graveyard.
When Alex finally was discharged from the Hospital Wing, he found thing oddly quit. From what Alex had heard from his friends, Dumbledore had told everyone to leave Alex and Harry alone. And they did, but whatever it was because of Dumbledore's orders, Alex didn´t know. Because most people, he noticed, were skirting him in the corridors, avoiding his eyes. Some whispered behind his back as he passed. Harry had told Alex that he experienced the same thing.
Alex and Harry guessed that many of them had believed Rita Skeeter's article about how disturbed and possibly dangerous they were. Perhaps they were formulating their own theories about how Cedric had died. Alex found he did not care very much.
Alex found that he liked it the best when he was with his friends.
They were talking about other things, or else letting them sit in silence while they played chess, other games. And when Alex was with Daphne, he could just sit with her and enjoying her company.
Alex felt as though all them had reached an understanding they didn't need to put into words; that each was waiting for some sign, some word, of what was going on outside Hogwarts - and that it was useless to speculate about what might be coming until they knew anything for certain. The only time the subject was touched was when Ron told Harry about a meeting Mrs. Weasley had had with Dumbledore before going home.
"She went to ask him if you could come straight to us this summer," Ron said. "But he wants you to go back to the Dursleys', at least at first."
"Why?" Harry asked.
"She said Dumbledore's got his reasons," said Ron, shaking his head darkly. "I suppose we've got to trust him, haven't we?"
Alex had been sitting alone reading a book during the conversation, as Hermione walked over to him.
"What about you, Alexander?" she asked. "What will you stay this summer?"
Alex shrugged and put down his book. "Honestly I have no idea," he answered. "I suppose I don´t have anyone anymore." Alex added sadly.
…
The only person, apart from his friends, that Alex felt able to talk to was Salazar Slytherin.
"Why would you want to alliance yourself with a dark wizard?" Salazar asked, as Alex was sitting on the stone floor against the wall, having finished his tale.
"I don´t know!" Alex muttered looking at the ground. "I guess, it was because all I could think of at that time was how everybody hated me. How everyone would be afraid of me, how they would shun me. So I decided that I might as well give them a reason to be afraid."
"You should not let yourself be controlled by other people´s opinions." Slytherin said looking at his heir.
"I know, I just wanted to - I don´t know what I wanted. It was a stupid move."
"Look Alexander. I wasn´t the kindest man when I was alive, I had beliefs that muggleborns should be removed from their homes before being allowed in the school, because I felt they were uneducated. I made the chamber that Voldemort used to terrorize the school. However, you are nothing like Voldemort or me for that matter. You have studied in my chambers to better yourself and your friends. And from the times I have seen you down here; I know that you are not a dark wizard. From the stories, you've told me, you do seem like a noble wizard. You have done great things, heroic things, way better than I ever done in my life. You are, Alexander, a brilliant wizard, and you will grow up to do great things; great things."
Alex nodded, "I guess you are right."
"I know I am. You should listen to me, I am pretty smart you know.
Alex nodded and smiled a bit.
"See that is the sprit Alexander. Beside you have to remember that you didn´t join him."
Alex nodded again. "Yeah I just thought what my friends would think of me joining Voldemort. What Daphne would think - what I would think." Alex added, looking at his ancestor. "Neither I or they would like what I all most did."
"That is good, trust in yourself Alexander and trust in those you love. They are what is important, their opinions and feelings are what matters. So listen to an old man, surround yourself with those you love. Don´t make my mistake and push them away."
Alex looked at Slytherin´s portrait, "thanks, I keep that in mind."
"Good, I know that you will bring my name glory as my true heir."
…
It was with a heavy heart that Alex packed his trunk up in the dormitories on the night before his return to well Merlin knows. He was dreading the Leaving Feast, which was usually a cause for celebration, when the winner of the Inter-House Championship would be announced, because that would mean that he to be in a fully crowed Great Hall. Ever since he had left the Hospital Wing, Alex had only eaten when it was empty, so he avoid the stares of their fellow students.
Alex entered the Hall, he saw at once that the usual decorations were missing. The Great Hall was normally decorated with the winning House's colours for the Leaving Feast. Tonight, however, there were black drapes on the wall behind the teachers' table. In a mark of respect to Cedric, Alex guessed. It was good, in the end Cedric had proven to be loyal and a good person, and certainly not one that deserved to be killed like that.
Alex soon spotted the real Mad-Eye Moody, who was at the staff table. The real Mad-Eye? Alex still could not believe that he had been taught by an imposter. Harry had of course told Harry that Barty Crouch Jr. had been masquerading as Mad-Eye, and that he was the traitor that placed Alex´s name in Goblet of Fire. It had helped Alex understand conversation between Fudge and McGonagall better, but it the thought of a Death Eater having been so close made Alex sick. He had trusted in Mad-Eye, he had admired the man, and it had been a Death Eater. Alex knew that it was wrong, but he was happy about the traitor´s fate.
The real Moody was extremely twitchy, jumping every time someone spoke to him. Alex couldn't blame him; Moody's fear of attack was bound to have been increased by his ten-month imprisonment in his own trunk, Harry had told Alex that. Professor Karkaroff had left as well. Alex wondered, as he sat down with the other Gryffindors, where Karkaroff was now, and whether Voldemort had caught up with him, if he hadn´t then he soon would,
Madame Maxime was still there. She was sitting next to Hagrid. They were talking quietly together. Further along the table, sitting next to Professor McGonagall, was Snape. His eyes lingered on Alex for a moment as Alex looked at him. His expression was difficult to read. He didn't look as sour and unpleasant as usual, yet he looked like he pitied someone. Snape continued to watch him, long after Alex had looked away.
What was it that Snape had done on Dumbledore's orders the night that Voldemort had returned? Had he gone to make contact with the Death Eaters? Pretended that he had never really gone over to Dumbledore's side that he had been, like Voldemort himself, biding his time. Alex admired that, he knew that if Voldemort ever leaned the truth, Snape would meet a cruel end.
Alex´s musings were ended by Professor Dumbledore, who stood up at the staff table. The Great Hall, which in any case had been less noisy than it usually was at the Leaving Feast, became very quiet.
"The end," said Dumbledore, looking around at them all, "of another year." He paused, and his eyes fell upon the Hufflepuff table. Theirs had been the most subdued table before he had gotten to his feet, and theirs were still the saddest and palest faces in the Hall.
"There is much that I would like to say to you all tonight," Said Dumbledore, "but I must first acknowledge the loss of a very fine person, who should be sitting here," he gestured toward the Hufflepuffs, "enjoying our feast with us. I would like you all, please, to stand, and raise your glasses, to Cedric Diggory."
They did it, all of them; the benches scraped as everyone in the Hall stood, and raised their goblets, and echoed, in one loud, low, rumbling voice, "Cedric Diggory."
Alex caught a glimpse of Cho through the crowd. There were tears pouring silently down her face. He couldn't help but feel sorry for her.
"Cedric was a person who exemplified many of the qualities that distinguish Hufflepuff house," Dumbledore continued. "He was a good and loyal friend, a hard worker, he valued fair play. His death has affected you all, whether you knew him well or not. I think that you have the right, therefore, to know exactly how it came about."
Alex raised his head and stared at Dumbledore.
"Cedric Diggory was murdered by Lord Voldemort."
A panicked whisper swept the Great Hall. People were staring at Dumbledore in disbelief, in horror. He looked perfectly calm as he watched them mutter themselves into silence.
"The Ministry of Magic," Dumbledore continued, "does not wish me to tell you this. It is possible that some of your parents will be horrified that I have done so - either because they will not believe that Lord Voldemort has returned, or because they think I should not tell you so, young as you are. It is my belief, however, that the truth is generally preferable to lies, and that any attempt to pretend that Cedric died as the result of an accident, or some sort of blunder of his own, is an insult to his memory."
Stunned and frightened, every face in the Hall was turned toward Dumbledore now…or almost every face.
"There are two others who must be mentioned in connection with Cedric's death," Dumbledore went on. "I am talking, of course, about Harry Potter and Alexander Black."
A kind of ripple crossed the Great Hall as a few heads turned in the two Gryffindor's direction before flicking back to face Dumbledore.
"Harry and Alexander both managed to escape Lord Voldemort," said Dumbledore. "They risked their own lives to return Cedric's body to Hogwarts. They showed, in every respect, the sort of bravery that few wizards have ever shown in facing Lord Voldemort, and for this, I honour them."
Dumbledore turned gravely to Harry and Alex and raised his goblet once more. Nearly everyone in the Great Hall followed suit. They murmured their names, as they had murmured Cedric's, and drank to them. But through a gap in the standing figures, Alex saw that Nott, Crabbe, Goyle, and less the half of the other Slytherins had remained defiantly in their seats, their goblets untouched. Alex was surprised to see that at over the half of the Slytherin table supported him and Harry or maybe just him. Dumbledore, who after all possessed no magical eye, did not see the other half.
When everyone had once again resumed his or her seats, Dumbledore continued, "The Triwizard Tournament's aim was to further and promote magical understanding. In the light of what has happened - of Lord Voldemort's return - such ties are more important than ever before."
Dumbledore looked from Madame Maxime and Hagrid, to Fleur Delacour and her fellow Beauxbatons students, to Viktor Krum and the Durmstrangs at the Slytherin table. Krum, Alex noticed, looked wary, almost frightened, as though he expected Dumbledore to say something harsh.
"Every guest in this Hall," said Dumbledore, and his eyes lingered upon the Durmstrang students, "will be welcomed back here at any time, should they wish to come. I say to you all, once again. In the light of Lord Voldemort's return, we are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided. Lord Voldemort's gift for spreading discord and enmity is very great. We can fight it only by showing an equally strong bond of friendship and trust. Differences of habit and language are nothing at all if our aims are identical and our hearts are open."
"It is my belief - and never have I so hoped that I am mistaken - that we are all facing dark and difficult times. Some of you in this Hall have already suffered directly at the hands of Lord Voldemort. Many of your families have been torn asunder. A week ago, a student was taken from our midst."
"Remember Cedric. Remember, if the time should come when you have to make a choice between what is right and what is easy, remember what happened to a boy who was good, and kind, and brave, because he strayed across the path of Lord Voldemort. Remember Cedric Diggory."
…
Alex´s trunk was packed and Archimedes was back in his cage on top of the trunk.
Alex hand in hand with Daphne along with Harry, Ron, and Hermione were waiting in the crowded entrance hall with the rest of the fourth years for the carriages that would take them back to Hogsmeade station. It was another beautiful summer's day. Alex stood there wondering if he should just go back to his grandfather's house, to his now house-elves, Lux and Pixy.
"Alexander!"
Alex looked around. Fleur Delacour was hurrying up the stone steps into the castle. Beyond her, far across the grounds He could see Hagrid helping Madame Maxime to back two of the giant horses into their harness. The Beauxbatons carriage was about to take off.
"We will see each uzzer again, I 'ope," said Fleur as she reached him, holding out her hand. "I am 'oping to get a job 'ere, to improve my Eenglish."
"It's very good already," said Ron in a strangled sort of voice. Fleur smiled at him; while Daphne and Hermione rolled their eyes.
"Good-bye, Alexander," said Fleur, turning to go. "It 'az been a pleasure meeting you! Iz ´as ´ a ´onor competing ´ith you. An' a pleasure meeting you you too, 'Arry."
Alex smiled a little as he watched Fleur hurry back across the lawns to Madame Maxime, her silvery hair rippling in the sunlight.
"Wonder how the Durmstrang students are getting back," said Ron. "D' you reckon they can steer that ship without Karkaroff?"
"Karkaroff did not steer," said a gruff voice. "He stayed in his cabin and let us do the vork."
Krum had come to say good-bye to Hermione. "Could I have a vord?" he asked Hermione.
"Oh…yes…all right," she said, looking slightly flustered, and following Krum through the crowd and out of sight, making Alex smile again.
"You'd better hurry up!" Ron called loudly after her. "The carriages'll be here in a minute!"
Alex, Daphne, Harry and Ron kept a watch for the carriages, however, and spent the next few minutes craning their necks over the crowd to try and see what Krum and Hermione might be up to. They returned quite soon. Alex looked at Hermione, but her face was quite impassive.
"I liked Diggory," said Krum abruptly to Alexander. "He vos alvays polite to me. Alvays. Even though I vos from Durmstrang - with Karkaroff," he added, scowling.
"Have you got a new headmaster yet?" said Harry
Krum shrugged. He held out his hand as Fleur had done, shook Harry's and Alex´s hands, and then Daphne, and Ron´s. Ron looked as though he was suffering some sort of painful internal struggle. Krum had already started walking away when Ron burst out, "Can I have your autograph?"
The horseless carriages were now trundling toward them up the drive, and Krum, looking surprised but gratified, signed a fragment of parchment for Ron.
…
The weather could not have been more different on the journey back to King's Cross then it had been on their way to Hogwarts the previous September. There wasn't a single cloud in the sky. Harry, Ron, and Hermione had managed to get a compartment to themselves. Alex however left the trio to find a compartment with his girlfriend Daphne. He and Daphne´s relationship wasn't much of a secret anymore when Daphne kissed him one day in front of everyone who mattered. Since then the two of them hadn´t cared about holding hands in public.
The couple soon found a compartment where Blaise, Tracey, and Draco also sat.
The five friends talked more fully and freely than they had all week as the train sped them southward, while Alex sat there in silence. He felt as though Dumbledore's speech at the Leaving Feast had unblocked him, somehow. It was less painful to discuss what had happened now. They broke off their conversation about what action Dumbledore might be taking, even now, to stop Voldemort only when the lunch trolley arrived.
Alex was sitting by the door, eating a Cauldron Cake when he heard something sounding like an explosion of a box of fireworks and bangs within a compartment. Alex, and more than a few others, exited their compartments to investigate.
Nott, Crabbe, and Goyle were all lying unconscious in the doorway of Harry's compartment. Fred, Mellissa and George were also there standing next to the Slytherins. Alex walked over to check on his Gryffindor friends.
"Hey," he said, seeing Ron, Harry, and Hermione. "Is everything alright?"
"Thought we'd see what those three were up to," said Fred matter-of-factly, stepping onto Goyle and into the compartment. He had his wand out, and so did George, who was careful to tread on Nott as he followed Fred inside.
"Interesting effect," said George, looking down at Crabbe. "Who used the Furnunculus Curse?"
"Me," said Harry.
"Odd," said George lightly. "I used Jelly-Legs. Looks as though those two shouldn't be mixed. He seems to have sprouted little tentacles all over his face. Well, let's not leave them here, they don't add much to the decor."
Alex Harry, Ron, Fred and George kicked, rolled, and pushed the unconscious Nott, Crabbe, and Goyle - each of whom looked distinctly the worse for the jumble of jinxes with which they had been hit - out into the corridor, then came back into the compartment and rolled the door shut. After Alex helped out, he went back to his compartment but not before taking one last glance at Fred and George, an idea sprouting in his mind.
Alex entered his compartment and sat down next to Daphne. "What was that all about?" She asked.
"Just Nott and his cronies trying to get a rise out of Harry," Alex answered. "But it looks like Harry wasn't in the mood for it so he shut them up. Fred, Mellissa and George helped out."
"Alex I have been thinking" Blaise said looking at his friend. "I don´t think you should be by yourself this summer."
"Yes?" Alex said, knowing what he was talking about.
"Maybe it'd be best if you should stay with one of us, with the exception of Draco, cause of his father, and well you know," Tracey explained. "Maybe with Daphne or Blaise."
Alex shrugged. "Maybe, but since me and Daphne dating, I don´t know if her parents will be too happy about having me live with them."
Daphne nodded, "I understand, but then you can live with Blaise." She said garbing Alex right hand with hers, Alex shivered as she touched his index finger. It had been regrown by Madam Pomfrey , but it felt strange when people touched it.
"Well - Look I am sorry to say, but I wouldn't be any fun to hang out this summer considering what happened. Beside have you even talked with your mum about it Blaise?"
"No, but I ask her when I see her at the platform."
"Well yes but even then I should properly head to my grandfather house first." Alex said.
"And then I will pick you up, a couple of days."
The rest of the journey passed pleasantly enough and all too soon, the Hogwarts Express was pulling in at platform nine and three-quarters. The usual confusion and noise filled the corridors as the students began to disembark.
Alex quickly struggled out of his compartment, looking for a couple of red-headed twins, followed by Daphne.
"Hey what are you doing?"
"I just need to find someone," Alex said grabbing Daphne´s hand, and then he spotted who he was looking for. "Fred - George - wait a moment."
The Weasley twins and Mellissa turned around looking at Alex and Daphne questioningly. Alex then pulled all into his empty compartment. He pulled open his trunk and drew out his Triwizard winnings.
"Take it," He said, and thrust the sack into Fred´s hands.
"What?" said Fred, looking flabbergasted.
"I said take it. I don´t want them."
"Alex you are nothing thinking strait." Fred said trying to give Alex the gold back.
"No, I know what I am doing." Alex said. "Look I don´t want this - and if you don´t want if I will throw it all out, then people can fight over who gets it."
"Alex look it a lot of money, you could spend it on Daphne or something."
"Don´t worry, I have enough money to do that. I don´t need these."
"Alex it a thousand Galleons." George said.
"Yes," Alex said. "Just think how many Canary Creams that is." The twins stared at him, and Daphne gave him a smile. "Just don't tell your mum where you got it…although she might not be so keen for you to join the Ministry anymore, come to think of it. Look take them and start your joke shop."
"Alex, I am flatted, but are you sure."
"I am sure George," Alex said firmly. "Look I have given this a lot of thought. I promised Cedric´s mother that I would use the winnings at something good, and this is something good. So please take the money, open your shop and bring some laughter in to the world. Look think of it as an investment. We can work the rest out later."
Finally the twins nodded, "thanks Alex, we applicate it." Fred said.
Alex grabbed his trunk and owl, and left the compartment with Daphne.
They soon met up with their Slytherin friends first. Alex said goodbye to Tracey first, and hugged her goodbye. Next, he went to Blaise.
"Remember what I said mate, if you doesn´t have anyone to live with, then I you live with me."
Alex nodded, "okay I promise."
Blaise laughed. "Alright, see ya, Black," he said, punching Alex´s arm then left.
Alex turned to Daphne. "Are you sure you're going to be alright?" she asked placing her arms around Alex´s neck.
"I will be." Alex smiled. "And I promise you that I won´t do anything too stupid and reckless."
"When it comes to you, you shouldn't do anything stupid or reckless at all."
Alex grinned, "like giving a thousand Galleons to a joke-shop."
"No that was a good move." Daphne said before pulling Alex in a quick kiss. "Just promise me that you will take care of yourself."
"I promise. You take care too." Daphne nodded. "Good I will write you. Alex added giving her a kiss on the cheek.
The two teens held hands for a few seconds before separating. "Goodbye Alex."
"Bye Daphne."
The two went their separate ways. Alex walked over to Harry and the others.
Once Mrs. Weasley was close by, she hugged him very tightly, and then let go, smiling at him.
Alex then turned to Harry who looked a little bummed out. "Hey Harry, look we be fine right, and we definitely will see each other soon."
"Hope so," he said. "Take care okay."
"Yeah, and the same goes for you," Alex replied before shaking Harry´s hand, if Alex didn´t know any better he thought Harry looked at bit reluctant before returning the handshake.
Then Alex turned to face the Weasley twins. "Fred, George."
"Alex," George said, "Er, thanks." He muttered, while Fred nodded fervently. Alex smiled and nodded back.
Alex turned and ran into Hermione. "Oh, Hermione, I'm sorry!"
"No, it's okay," Hermione said, smiling. Alex smiled back and the two shared a quick friendly hug "You'll be okay, won't you?" Hermione asked when the two pulled apart.
Alex gave a reassuring smile. "Yeah, Hermione, I'll be fine, promise" he said.
"Good," Hermione said, and leaned in, and gave Alex a quick kiss on the cheek. "Have a good summer then." Alex nodded. "And don't forget to write me!"
Alex nodded again and then Hermione was gone. Alex sighed; everybody wanted him to be the same, but could he be after what he had seen? After what he had done?"
He turned and began walking towards the barrier when he noticed a familiar face leaning against a column. It was Nymphadora. She stood up straight, smiling as Alex walked up to her.
"Dora? What eh are you doing here?"
"Alex Alex the name is Tonks," Nymphadora said, grabbing onto the Owl cage.
"Yeah, but it either Dora or Nymphadora. I don´t like calling you Tonks. However, you didn´t answer my question. What are you doing here?"
"I'm here to take you home," Nymphadora said. "To my home, well, your home now."
"What?"
"Well you have to live somewhere." Nymphadora started. "We'd thought that you'd like to come live with us, after all we are family. And I won't take no for an answer."
"Look are you sure of this." Alex paused, "Look I better not. I think it is best if I am left alone."
"What? There is no way you should be alone at a time like this. Beside you're still still have to live with adults."
"Says who?" Alex said a little annoyed. He wasn´t a baby, he had seen things most adult hadn´t
"Says this," Nymphadora said, thrusting a paper in front of Alex´s face. "I have been appointed to be your new guardian! So, law says you have to live with me!"
"Great," Alex said with a sigh, but still thinking it might be a good thing. He hadn´t been looking forward to living alone in an empty house, even it would only had been for a few days.
"Oh come on, Alexander," Nymphadora said, wrapping an arm around his shoulders. "I'm not that bad. I'm fun, and we're going to have fun. Think of me as your big sister. This summer is going to be great." Alex rolled his eyes but smiled nonetheless, and as they were getting closer to the barrier, something else caught Alex´s eyes. It was Draco and His father. Mr. Malfoy seemed to be scolding Draco who was staring at the ground, with his fist clenched.
"Wait a second." Alex setting his trunk next to Nymphadora before walking over towards Draco and his father.
"- You insolent little brat, we have to teach you to be with the right crowd." Mr. Malfoy hissed.
"Funny seeing you here, Mr. Malfoy," Alex spoke, stopping in front of the two Malfoys. "Been a while hasn't it? Last time we saw one another was, if I recall, weeks ago, in a dark graveyard – "
"Shut it, boy!" Mr. Malfoy hissed. "Speak again and I will silence you forcibly." Alex glared at the older Malfoy who moved over to Alex and whispered in his ear. "You're lucky you got out alive. Next time, you better hope the Dark Lord will be just as lenient to you when you try and turn down his gracious offers a second time."
"I have more ambition then growl at that half-blood´s feet. I always thought you wouldn't either. Not a very Slytherin move."
Mr. Malfoy stood up straight. "Come along, Draco!" And began moving, but Draco stayed right where he was, staring at Alex. Alex gave a small smile. "I said come along, Draco!" Mr. Malfoy repeated.
Draco looked at Alex again then he took a deep breath and looked at his father. "No," he said firmly.
"What did you say?" Mr. Malfoy said, returning to his son.
"I said no." Draco said a little louder, while holding the stare at his father. "No, I am not going with you. Not anymore!"
"You insolent little brat," Malfoy hissed. "You did this!" He said, pointing at Alex. "You turned my own son against me!" And then Malfoy was about to pull out his wand.
"I don't think so, Mr. Malfoy," Nymphadora said, holding up an Auror's badge. "I suggest you go home."
Malfoy turned and glared at both Draco and Alex. "This isn't over, boy, and Draco this will not be forgotten." With that, the elder Malfoy left.
Nymphadora placed her arms around Draco and Alex´s shoulders. "Come on boys, let's go home!" she said.
"M-me too?" Draco asked looking at them.
"Of course, we family Draco, and in my opinion family stick together."
Alex smiled again, so much for a summer in isolation.
…
The end.
