We swam across the Atlantic in only a few hours, with me making a pit stop to drain a few sharks, which was a first for Jane to witness and me to do. She giggled at the color my eyes were changing, but wouldn't tell me the color. We arrived at Port Ln late in the evening, and Jane led me to Garrett's home on the outskirts of the city.
"All lights are off, I can't tell if he's home." Jane murmurs and I smile at her as I ring the doorbell. A haughty northern accent yells something ineligible from the upstairs portion of the home, and a few lights flick on as he comes downstairs at human speed.
"What do you want-" His eyes flash in shock and surprise when his eyes land on me, and fear when they land on Jane.
"Corporal." He nods to me in respect and lets us into his home.
"Thank you. I need help and some information. " I settle on the couch and Jane stands behind me like a sentinel, out of respect for my rank and to keep Garrett in her line of sight.
"How are you alive? I was told by Demitri that you were dismembered and set alight. Hell. I'm the only one that knows you even exist anymore." The shock in his voice makes me smile.
"Demitri had to tell you something. I couldn't just fall off the face of the earth, not with my brother still alive. Jane and I need identification papers and some money. I am going to give my brother and my family's memories back and take down the Volturi." Garrett begins to pace the living room, running his hands along his face.
"Why take down the Volturi? Why are you with Jane? I have some things to tell you about Jasper, Peter and Char." He finally settles himself down and sits in the recliner.
"Tell me about them first and I'll tell you what happened to me." He nods and leans back. "When you got him out of the army, he traveled with Peter and Char for a while, before he was found by some Pixie bitch named Alice. She led him to the Cullen family, a coven of vampires who feed on nothing but animal blood, and purposefully act like humans. He's completely different, he is nothing like he used to be. The last time I spoke to Peter he said that they haven't spoken in fifty or sixty years. Peter and Char have a few homes scattered around the states and Eruope. What's weird though is Carlisle, the coven leader, is friends with the kings."
I laugh as he tells me about the Cullen leader. "He knew about me, he was there for a few years studying me, seeing how long a vampire could go without blood before turning into solid stone. It took about seven months, then they gave me a small glass of blood. But to how I was kept by the Volturi. I was captured and given an option. Take their memories or they would suffer the same punishment as me. I'm severely protective of them, so I let them take me instead. But Aro lied to me, he said that my punishment would be a few hundred years in the guard. Once we got to the castle, Caius changed Aro's mind and they labeled me too much of a flight risk, so I became their prisoner. They bring me out every few years to get sunlight and to remind me that I'm alone. Caius decided he was going to remove my arm. I took a chunk out of his neck instead. I escaped and Jane followed me. She was the only one kind to me in my years there." Garrett let out a deep snarl and began pacing again.
"I'll help you take them down. Give me a few hours and I can have Jasper and everyone here and have your new identities."
"I want to find my brother and the others on my own. When Jasper gets his memories back, it may turn into a very violent fight." He nods and takes off. I sigh and relax against the couch and close my eyes.
"Your eyes have gone from a dark amber to almost purple. And the crack in your cheek is amongst gone." Jane murmurs and leans against me as I softly play with her hair.
"That doesn't surprise me. Sharks are oceanic predators, it wouldn't surprise me that their blood is a little different from land animals." She nods against my thigh and we relax as we wait for our new papers.
~~~~~A few hours later Jane and I are handed new papers. Isabella Marie Swan and her daughter Jane Grace Swan.
"Swan? Why not go with Whitlock? It's my real last name, you know that." I grumble as I place our papers in a satchel he bought for me, along with a small amount of cash and our new debit cards.
"Jasper is incharge of the Cullen clan's identities, and has an alert on any new identities revolving around the Whitlock name." I groan, and shake his hand for his help.
"I'll get word to you when I get to them, and when we begin to plan our takedown." He nods and wishes us luck after giving me Peter's location. I know that he and Char would take me giving their memory back easier than Jasper and it would be good to have some back-up for when the shit storm hits.
Within a few hours we're in a small cabin in the heights of the smoky mountains in Tennessee, on the edge of their scentline.
"Who are you, and what do ya want?" Peter's gravelly voice comes from my left and I raise my hands in surrender.
"We're just friends Peter. Not here to cause any harm." Jane mumbles behind me, causing Peter to let out a growl.
"What does Volturi want with me and my mate?" He snarls stepping closer to me. "We aren't with the Volturi, Peter. I'm a very old friend and creator." I pull off the cloak and reveal my scars to him, more than he, Jasper or Char have. He snarls again and launches himself at me, like I knew he would. My hands wrap around his head as I quickly bring him to his knees. He looks up at me, hate in his eyes until his memories begin to flow back into his mind. It only lasts a moment, but it feels like hours. I step away from him and turn away, not ready to see the pain and hurt in his eyes. Peter and Char are like my brother and sister, so I know that they will be hurt. I took those memories from them.
"Isa. What have you been through? It must have been a horrible situation to have to take our memories, knowing the people that you love won't remember you." He steps up beside me cautiously.
"You ought to know that I am not gonna hurt you Peter." I snarl and he takes a quick step back.
"I don't fucking know what you've been through. I'm shocked you aren't feral after all of these years." He mutters and he is soon sailing through his own property. I follow his skid mark to see Char standing over him in a protective stance, so I take her hand and give her memories back as well. Instead of being mouthy like her mate, she bows to me, in a sign of respect.
"I have enough respect for myself and my family to not let myself become feral, you dumb fuck! I'm older than you. I have more self-control. I knew that at some point in my imprisonment that I would see my family again. If I let myself become feral that means the Volturi would have a reason to truly kill me, especially easily with how weak they kept me." Peter snarls at me again and jumps towards me, but before he could touch me, Jane releases her power and he is screaming on the ground.
"No Jane." I murmur and she releases him and takes my hand, leaning into me.
"Why is she all cuddly with you?" Char asks quietly.
"She was turned at thirteen, and treated like a weapon instead of the child she still is. I've only treated her the way that she needs to be seen, and she respects me for it. She needs a mother figure and I am that for her. Now, before you ask me all the questions. I want to find Jasper and give him his memories back." They nod and lead me to the house where we climb into their Chevy Suburban and head towards my brother. On the way to Washington state, they tell me about his life since the war and the entire time, my rage is building so high the Corporal is demanding to be released.
It's gonna be a shitshow in Forks, Washington for Alice Cullen.
