The Jellicle ball came and went, and there was still no sign of Bombalurina and Demeter. The Jellicles were beginning to give up on hope on ever finding the pair of sisters and were starting to grieve them as if they were dead. Munkustrap however, wasn't going to give up so easily. Now that he was of age and was learning to be the tribe's protector, he was already planning on continuing to look for them.

Munkustrap sat on the great tire that looked out over the entire central clearing of the junkyard. Jenny had recently given birth to two toms named Tumblebrutes and Pouncival and was bringing them outside to play for the first time. Jellyorum was due to give birth to her kits any day.

Besides the new born toms, Rumpletezer was out playing with yet again another pair of newly adopted kittens named Mistofolees, a boisterous tuxedo tom and his pure white little sister named Victoria. A week after the ball, Bustopher Jones, an overweight, posh, tribe member who came and went from the junkyard as he pleased, had found and brought the young Tom and his new born sister to the Jellicles, where he knew they would be safe and cared for.
Over on the pipe sat Plato, another rescued kitten who was found the same week unconscious in a nearby alley. He was around Mistoffolees and Rumpletezer's age but hadn't been very outgoing or playful since he was taken in.
Though Munk was supposed to be attentively watching the activity taking place in the yard, his mind was elsewhere. All he could think about was the missing sisters, Demeter especially. They couldn't just give up on them. He looked around the yard, in attempt to actually fulfill his duty of watching over the place, when he noticed Coricopat and Tantomile slinking synchronously across the clearing and into their den. Though he had asked them before and came up with no answer, he decided to ask them again with the off chance that the answer could change. He jumped off the tire and quickly made his way to their den. Before he could even knock, Tantomile stuck her head out of the doorway.

"Hello Munk" she greeted before giggling after seeing the surprised Tom jump. "Please come in"
Munk relaxed, smiled and nodded before following the Siamese queen in. She moved to sit at a table with her brother. Munkustrap sat across from the twins.

"I'm guessing you already know why I'm here?" he questioned.
The twins nodded.

"And I'm guessing you already know the answer?" Coricopat passive aggressively questioned back.

"Yes I know but please can you try just one more time."

"Munk we've told you." Tantomile began "He has a block on them. We can't get any information."

"Please you guys. I promise after this I'll move on and start mourning them like everyone else."
The twins looked at him for a long moment before exchanging long looks, likely communicating telepathically. Finally they nodded. Munk sighed and smiled gratefully. The twins took hands, closed their and breathed deeply. Their faces went completely expressionless. Suddenly Tantomile's eyes shot open and she let out a loud gasp. Coricopat opened his eyes too, his expression just as frantic as his sister's.
"What?!" Munkustrap asked desperately, terrified that the news was not what he wanted.
"They've escaped!" Tantomile exclaimed. "They're running along the river."

"They don't well though." Coricopat added, his eyes once again closed.

"You need to hurry. Get others and go! There's no way they'll make it back without help." Tantomile urged.

"I'll go with you" Cori announced and followed Munk who was already out the door.

Not far from the twin's den, Tugger and Alonzo stood casually talking. Upon seeing the look on Munk's face as he tilted his head towards the gates, they took off after him and Coricopat.
Munk and Cori explained on the way about how they knew that Bombalurina and Demeter had escaped and were currently on the run through the city.
The pack of toms ran furiously through alleys and streets, only stopping every so often for Cori to sense which direction they needed to go.

As they rounded a corner, Cori once again stopped, closed his eyes and sniffed the air. The other toms stopped too and waited patiently for their next directions. Suddenly, Cori opened his eyes wide and pointed ahead. in the distance, on the other end of the street, they saw two figures of cats running towards them. Without hesitation, Munkustrap took off, the other three right behind him. When they got closer, it was confirmed that it was indeed Bombalurina and Demeter on a mad dash to escape their ruthless captor. When the queens saw the familiar toms in front of them, they ran to them, Bomba to the arms of Tugger and Demeter to the arms of Munkustrap.
Munk held the gold and black queen close, almost in disbelief that she was actually there in his arms. Moments after falling into his embrace. Demeter's legs began to give out and her body went limp. Munk pulled the queen away from him and observed as she fell unconscious. He immediately checked her pulse, only to find that she did still have one. He looked up at Bombalurina, who was still tightly latched to Tugger. The worry for her sister on her face was as plain as day.
"She's fine" Munk reassured "Come on. Let's get back."
He lifted Demeter all the way up in his arms and began to move as quickly as he could while carrying someone. He was so focused on getting them back to the yard, he failed to notice Demeter's slightly swollen belly.
"Munk please be careful" Bombalurina suddenly pleaded.
He turned back to look at the scarlet queen.
"She's...she's pregnant" she explained. She really hated breaking that news to him but it was worth lessening the risk of him accidentally harming the unborn kitten.
Munkustrap's eyes widened but he quickly composed himself and nodded before turning back and continuing to lead the trek home.
