Chapter 5: Her Past
While the whole whole gang was downstairs, Kairi was left alone to rest in USJ's renovated area of an infirmary.
Slowly, Kairi opened her eyes and found herself lying on a bed.
She sat up, thought of the things that happened the past few hours.
All she knows is she could manipulate a time.
Slowing it down, fasten, even suspend.
She looked at her hands, also confused, what made her quirk go all berserk.
She even manage to drag everyone in her drastic timeline.
She put them all in danger.
She was so disappointed, frustrated of herself.
Sadness, longing and guilt.
In frustration to get some answers, she activated her quirk.
A bluish and white light came bursting in the room.
Katsuki who happened to be coming in saw her.
Suspending everything, the clock, the sound...
But not him.
He noticed how he can still feel himself breathing; he marched forward, touching her shoulder.
She jolted, looked at him and they were gone.
Uravity who noticed her younger classmates, as well as Shoto, Creati, Ingenium and Froppy got frozen, went to the older Deku; Izuku and Ochaco also did the same.
"What happened?" Izuku asked, "everyone and everything stopped again."
"Must be... looking for answers," Deku looked at them smiling sadly.
The first time she accidentally used her power was when she bumped into someone.
Time stood still, she felt as if her hands were glued on that person.
It was horribly terrifying; she saw blood spilled on the floor, a smile so devilish, it was almost as if she couldn't breathe.
It was for such a matter of seconds, but for her, as child, it felt like eternity has passed.
When she was able to take her hands off the man, she saw horror.
He was grinning at her.
"I found you..."
This scene was etched in her memory; growing up was a lot more difficult.
Notifying her parents made them move from one place to another.
She avoided people, tried not having any physical contact with them as much as possible.
When there's a sudden contact on another person's skin, immediately, she'd scratch it leaving cuts and scars.
She wouldn't care even if the cuts were too deep or shallow.
She would do it to stop her quirk; to stop putting her on a trance and see what she should not see.
Soon, she was told to take suppressants and pills.
One day... its as if she felt nothing at all.
She was walking in a nearby river after school when an urge came up to her.
She went walking, sprinting, then jumping in the water.
Going deeper and deeper...
Her eyes closed, getting lost in her thoughts as the water embraced her.
Never have it occured to her that she needed to breathe when a hand suddenly grabbed her arm and she felt like it was pulling her up.
She opened her eyes and became conscious of needing air to live.
As soon as she got her feet touch the ground, her rescuer suddenly hit her on her head; angrily he shouted, "Oy, pale face, next time, don't do things like this on my watch!"
She turned her head to see a tall guy with ash-blond spikey hair, his eyes sharp and red.
Stunned of what was happening around her, she started to cry.
"Oy, Bakugo!" a red-haired guy approached them, "What happened? Is she okay?" he asked.
The boys in their hero costumes, just stared at the girl who was bawling herself.
"Oy," Katsuki trying to get her to stop, "shut it," he put his hand on her head smiling irritably, "let's walk you out of here, okay?"
"Psst, Bakugo, not like that... you'll scare her," Kirishima trying to calm his irritated soaked friend.
The girl slowly stopped crying as she felt Katuki's hand on her head.
She wanted to take it off her, afraid of what she could do, but somehow... she felt as if it's her time that stopped.
She tried to enjoy the moment that she could feel someone's warm hand on her head, then, suddenly, it was gone.
Gone were the shadow and the voice of that red-haired guy.
Gone was the irritated voice of her rescuer.
Gone was the warm hand on her head.
She looked around, and found herself standing alone by the riverside, all soaked with the river water.
A few days later, a news about Allmight saving a middle school student from a Slime Villain.
Katsuki found himself in a hometown; he was standing in front of a small house when a kid around 4 or 5 suddenly came running outside. Katsuki is known for his quick reflexes, so he was able to avoid bumping with the kid as she ran away from a lady who's just closing the door of their house.
"Kairi, wait!" she shouted as she went after the kid who's giggling two blocks away. She sees Katsuki on the way, bowed and smiled as she walked passed him.
"O... kay. So, if that's pale face... then, she must have jumped again," he thought.
"Maybe if I could follow the brat, I'll have an idea how to get out of this timeline..." he sighed, "This time jumping sure is making me both more curious and irritated."
"Oh, it's a school for the deaf and mute..." Katsuki thought as he observed Kairi and the lady went inside the building.
"Are you here for the lesson, too?" signed a teacher who saw him standing nearby.
Katsuki being Katsuki ignored the teacher and walked away, "I'll just wait til –"
Before he could finish his thought, something came crashing on the building; the teachers and the students came out running away from the vicinity.
A villain!
It looks like it's searching for something... or someone.
Katsuki prepared himself to fight off the villain when a muscular blond man came in the vicinity.
"It's fine now. Why? Because I am here!"
"Allmight!" the people rejoiced.
While Allmight was fighting the villain, Katsuki's eyes were restless, "where is that damn brat!"
In fear of what was happening around her, Kairi went running away.
As soon as Katsuki found her, he went to the direction she went.
He saw her bumping to someone who's presence he is too familiar with...
"All... for One." He stood there, unable to move.
"I found you..."
A bluish and white light bursted from where they are.
Katsuki found himself in a city of turmoil; fire everywhere, destroyed buildings... Deku and Uravity!
He looked closer and found Kairi crying on the loss of "Ground Zero"; she has already suspended the time within her radius.
As the bluish white light bursted and started to swallow him and Kairi, he yelled, "OY, KAIRI! COME BACK! COME BACK TO ME!"
Kairi jolted, as if she heard Katsuki's call, before she and Ground Zero vanished from the battlefield she was able to look at where the voice came from.
In a blink, Katsuki found himself standing on Kairi's bedside.
The clock started ticking.
Kairi was no longer in a body of a teen, but was back to her normal self in this timeline.
She looked at Katsuki with tears in her eyes and hugged the stunned boy.
"I. Heard. You." She tried to voice out.
She released Katsuki from her hug as she signed smiling, "Thank you, Suki, it was a nice dream."
