NOTE TO Guest: Sorry, I'm a Bobby/Darcy fan, so I have them together, and Bobby's in California right now, so they can't even have a close interaction right now. As I've mentioned, and someone else wrote about I think, the guys consider her their little sister, and love her like that, same as she them. It's a familial love, not romantic. That's the feeling I've always felt. It feels wrong to pair them up like that. Sorry to disappoint, but that's me and my story. About 90% of my readers are Bobby/Tara fans, and I only know of two others other than me that are Bobby/Darcy fans, but because of them, I add bits and pieces. Otherwise, I don't even bring that up :)
TRIVIA: Why is Myles perfect for the position? Clue; someone gave the correct answer as a wrong answer a while ago.
?-?
"YOU WHERE?" Jack signed as Sue and Sunny walked into the house.
"Didn't Howie tell you? There's a new Deaf neighbor in the neighborhood, and I was welcoming him here."
"Yeah, he said something like that." He replied, a bit frustrated.
"So what's the case?" Sue asked excitedly.
"That, you will have to wait for tomorrow morning." Jack replied, distracted from why he was frustrated.
"Hey!" Sue exclaimed. "You said you were going to tell me when I got home!"
Jack shrugged. "I changed my mind." He then walked away.
"No fair!" Sue replied following him.
He smiled, looking back at her. "Alright, I'll tell you some."
Sue smiled back, satisfied. "Alright."
"YOU WANT LUNCH YOU?" Jack asked.
Sue smiled and nodded as they walked into the kitchen.
?-?
"Darcy, I really need to log into work. Jack has some big case, and I really can't take too many more vacation days. I have to work from here, somehow."
"I know, but I just wanted to know if either one of these looks good." She replied, holding up two dresses she pulled out of a cardboard box that was just delivered a few moments prior.
Bobby smiled. "Both look amazing."
"You think?" Darcy replied.
Bobby nodded. "Where are you planning on wearing these?"
Darcy shrugged. "I don't know. I just saw them and thought they were pretty."
"They are. But now I need to work!" Bobby replied, turning to go into the dining room, where he had his computer set up.
?-?
Myles sighed as he logged into work on Monday. He didn't want to leave Cathi alone, but she insisted, so he followed orders. But his mind wouldn't leave her. He hoped he could focus. It was going to be hard working from home and not seeing his coworkers often, unless they had to go undercover. Sure, he might hate them sometimes, but he always respected them. As he logged on, he saw Jack had called a video meeting in 15 minutes. He prepared for it, still thinking of Cathi. "I hope she finds some sort of peace soon." He responded to himself.
?-?
"READY?" Jack signed, making sure Sue was ready for the meeting. Sue nodded in response. "Alright." He said as he started the meeting, and the room populated with the team. He waited for them to settle, then started. "Welcome to our first normal-ish case in a while." Everyone murmured, satisfied that they would be moving onto something more normal. "First off, I want to say hello to Bobby and Myles, this is their first case back, and we are so grateful for them to be back!"
Everyone quietly cheered. "What's the case already?" Myles replied. Everyone laughed. Typical Myles.
"Alright. So here's the case. As you know, due to the coronavirus, the amount of scams has gone through the roof, hitting every institution possible. Even horse racing, though I think this specific one has been going on for a while."
"Did I read you right? Horse racing?" Sue confirmed, signing as she spoke. He nodded, then continued.
"We've been tipped that there are "best new thing" horses popping up, who will be winning races, and making tons of money. These races are rigged, if not by the racecourse, then by the horse owners and riders themselves. It's our job to check it out, and find out who's the head of this operation. We start at Laurel Park tomorrow."
"But that's in Maryland, out of our jurisdiction." Josh replied.
Jack interpreted for Sue, then replied. "Yes, but everyone's understaffed right now. Just about all of the Maryland FBI office is quarantined right now, as one employee was infected." Jack explained.
"What will we be doing?" Tara asked.
"Well, it's pre-season right now, everyone's getting themselves together. Races don't start for another month or so, hopefully, but practices and other things are going on." Jack explained, after interpreting Tara's question for Sue. He then walked over to their office table to grab a notebook. "Tara, there's an office assistant job available, try really hard to get it, Mya, there's another position available as well. The more eyes we have in the place the better. Myles, you will be posing as a horse owner, and trainer."
"Me?" he replied, a bit shocked.
Jack looked up from his notes. "Yeah, we thought it would be perfect for you." Myles shrugged, and Jack continued reading. "Sue and I will be wealthy investors in Myles' horse, so we will be around often, but not often enough for anyone to get suspicious. Everyone else will be as needed.
"I have a big question." Howie said, coming down the stairs into the den.
Jack sighed, his shoulders sagging. He was supposed to stay upstairs, but does he listen? No. "What?"
"What about a horse, and a rider?"
"Oh!" Jack replied, interpreted for Sue and answered the question. "An agent undercover as a jockey and a fairly good horse will be provided to us. Sorry, I forgot to mention that. Any other questions?" Everyone shook their heads, and Jack nodded in satisfaction. "OK! We start tomorrow!"
