Chapter 48: Nei vs Charon

Leaving the room of the cave, I headed up into the next level. As I ran, I listened through the communications device to keep track of where Glaceon and Sylveon had run to. I was surprised that they were not with lace but even more so when I saw they took a side cave entrance and found the lake spirits. I made my way through the caves, up the stairs to get to where Glaceon and Sylveon were waiting for me. Smiling at the achievement they accomplished, I patted their heads "you did great for finding this" I told them. Carefully I walked down to the entrance of the cave where inside was pathways and everything was heading down into the centre, like a reverse pyramid.
The room had several machines that were all interlocked together and down in the middle were 3 machines colour coded blue, yellow and pink. Standing in front of the machines was the scientist that I had encountered at the Team Galactic's base. If the guy was smart, then his team would be healed from before and he'd prepare a team that would be able to counter tactics we may present in battle. Inside the machines were the lake spirits, Azelf was in the blue machine, Mesprit was in the pink one and Uxie was in the orange machine. They appeared to be in pain and as I watched the physical symptoms, I couldn't recognise what was the main cause of it. This made me ever more worried and the sound of his laughter echoed in the cave.
The scientist Charon walked in front of the machines and proclaimed "these are more effective to getting the lake spirits and making sure they never escape our grasp again. Emotions, willpower and knowledge, what do they all have in common?" it became beyond obvious my presence was known as he continued "its clear, they exist to present conscious mind which is one of the key aspects to make our desires come truth" it sickened me to the pits of my stomach that he was willing to capture them but a question came to mind "what exactly do you plan to do to them?" he answered with a grin "I plan to make their life force and their bodies become items, the life force to become a gem and the body to be the holder of said gem, no one will take them away from us and we can keep trying over and over again" knowing this made my feel even worse, the act of murder just as an insurance policy not to mention seeing them in pain like that. I can't let him get away with this, Glaceon and Sylveon nudged my leg to assure me to go into combat.
I pulled my pokeball out and so did he. The rage within my heart grew and with this, Charon grew surprised as he felt the pokeballs react to my determination. I called out 2 pokemon, my Delphox, my fire psychic type and Mimikyu my ghost and psychic type. Charon called out his Slowking, a water psychic type and Onix, his pure rock type. On first glance I have the clear type disadvantage but, in this situation, I feel as if I can't lose nor can I afford to lose. Holding my hand to Delphox and read their mind and sent to then what to do. Delphox holds their staff in front of them and their eyes glew for but a moment. Charon waved his hand and commanded "Onix, use stealth rock and Slowking, use yawn" the Onix let out a loud roar as small piece of rocks surround my 2 pokemon and Slowking yawned which made Delphox yawn too. I knew he was trying to slow down my actions by inflicting status effects.
As usual Charon seemed over-confident that his tactics would prevail, however unlike last time, I have my full attention on this battle. I rested my hand on Mimikyu's head and sent what they needed to do. The Mimikyu nodded and gathered shadows into the darkened claws, shooting a shadow ball to the Slowking. The Slowking was knocked back, ghost type moves dealing double damage would under normal circumstances be tough, but with the determination as a fuel the attack hit even harder and almost knocked Slowking out in one hit. Charon ordered "Onix, use rock throw" using its tail, Onix threw a rock to Delphox, knowing it was a fire type make this a good attack. The rock hurled past Delphox and I moved out of the way as I the rock crashed hard into wall behind me. I explained "Delphox looks into the flame at the end of its staff to foretell the future" Charon by the looks assumed I used future sight to dodge the attack.
However, that wasn't the case, the future sight was about to kick in. as the Onix roared loudly, the future sight attack hit and hit the Onix hard forcing them back and crashing behind the machines. Charon was confused and his confidence was broken. His Onix was knocked out due to my determination adding to my pokemons power and as Charon looked into my eyes, the righteousness his saw was unquestionable. I nodded to Mimikyu as they shot another shadow ball to the Slowking pushing him back hard and knocking him out too. Victor seemed clear and the battle was only the beginning. Charon was annoyed and called his fainted pokemon back, Slowking was worse off, looking like they were savagely attacked while Onix had segments that was cracked and fractured up and down his body.
Charon called out 2 more of his pokemon, a Crobat a flying poison type and Golisopod, a bug and water type. Its obvious based on his chosen 2 that he has thought of counters to both of my pokemon and I needed to think of what I can do to overcome this. Though my determination is stone my confidence was still on shacky ground while his confidence seems almost unnatural.
