Chapter 49: fate of the lake spirits

Nei:

As much as was even worse off, I know I couldn't switch out and if I did the stealth rock would strike dealing damage. Even if it's a small amount, it doesn't seem worth it in the long run. I didn't like to seem them hurt but I can't just let myself get discouraged from doing what I need to. Weighing my options and my option became clear. I called back Delphox and Mimikyu then called out Blastoise and Pikachu. Unfortunately, the stealth rock hit them both for damage, Pikachu got hit harder being a type disadvantage. Charon seemed pleased that his plan worked, that's until I laid my hands on both of my pokemon and their wounds disappeared. I explained "not many people see me in battle, and even fewer see my healing capabilities first-hand" his look grew ever more annoyed.

With him getting angrier, it was clearer I could use that to give me an edge to this battle and I said "Blastoise, use hydro pump" Blastoise shot high pressured water to the Crobat and unfortunately missed. Fortunately, the aim wasn't the pokemon. The hydro pump hit the machine hard and tried to free at least one of the lake spirits. Charon was surprised that I aimed to his machines and yet he kept smiling. Looking to the machines, none of them were affected by the water and that was surprising. Charon explained "seems like you don't get it. These machines work off crystals that have energy stored in them. A product of my design and I bet you're wondering why I don't use these instead of the lake spirits" I watched as I kept feeling even worse the more he talked. He continued "the answer is simple, someone like you probably can figure it out, these gems don't have enough power behind it for long term commitment. We need more" I couldn't help but feel like every word he spoke was nothing but a deep poison and one that kept digging deeper.

I closed my eyes and said "Pikachu, use thunderbolt" Pikachu shocked lightning into the water and shocked Golisopod and Crobat for even more damage, usually there would be double but with the water it sent damage to quadruple damage to them both. With lightning being shot up and all around them both and the machine taking some damage. Both fainted with bad electrocution burns covering the majority of the Crobats and Golisopods body. Charon called them back and grinned as he called out his last 2 pokemon. His Drapion, a poison and dark type and his Dusknoir, a pure ghost type. Charon kept his confident smirk as his Dusknoir faded out of sight. Surprised by this I looked around to see if I could catch a glimpse of it before they attack. A cold breeze gently rolled in, signs of the ghostly presence, and I closed my eyes to think what to do. The Dusknoir was the issue but the Drapion was easy compared to dealing with a ghost.

The Dusknoir entered pikachus body and made it use thunderbolt on Blastoise, dealing heavy damage with electrical burns, being a type disadvantage. I called back Blastoise and recalled Mimikyu out. Looking to my pikachu, I knew what I needed to do to ensure my victory. Pikachu was discharging thunder and lightning, I walked closed as the refined lightning shot out and scratched me, leaving deep wounds that bled profusely. I ignored the pain as I walked to Pikachu then wrapped my arms around them. Pikachu struggled wildly and kept shocking and causing me more pain and suffering as more cuts appeared and the burns appear. Connecting to Pikachu's mind showed me the feeling and the past, reaching back to the day we first met. The winter like shaymin walked in and watched in pleasure as my pain continued.

It wasn't long since the start of my adventure, surprisingly enough starting the adventure wasn't my deepest desire. Heading out to discover myself was why I accepted the adventure and I picked a Squirtle to join me. Along our journey we came across a forest that look like the same on as I was raised near. The soft breeze, the warm sunlight and the sound of pokemon making their usual calls made it seem like things were looking up. Until I heard the sound of a pokemon in distress and I went to investigate. There I found a Pikachu but this one was caught in a snare trap; it was caught around the neck and was coughing hard. I was so worried that I asked Squirtle to use water gun on one of the prongs holding the trap in place. The Squirtle did as I asked, and the Pikachu was free.

But the wounds were deep, and I didn't know what to do. I had to take them to a pokemon centre, but I didn't know how far one was. I broke into tears as I held the Pikachu close getting blood over my dress and sadness was taking over as I closed my eyes, tears rolling down my face. I could tell the wounds were too deep for the potions I had to work; my face grew cold but to my surprise my hands grew warm. I opened my eyes and saw the wounds on the Pikachu heal themselves. After the miracle, I suddenly fell asleep and stayed asleep for a few hours. I wasn't aware that I was the one who healed until we reached a pokemon centre and when I awoke, the Pikachu was there by my side. We had been friends since.

The rush of Pikachu's memories forced the Dusknoir's possession to break and Mimikyu too the chance to strike hard with shadow claw. Charon was even more surprised and didn't take any more chances. He pressed a button and the lake spirits disappeared. He smiled to me and said "too late, in case this didn't work, I had it so they'd be sent away from here" Charon made his escape with his pokemon. This battle was over.
