Welcome, everyone! For those who have not seen the first update and read the introduction to Lights, Camera Action please feel free to take a luck at the story and if you want to make a character of your own for the story. Don't worry about whether you may think it is good enough or doubt your own skills in making a character for those who are unsure and on the fence (trust me, when I made my first Danganronpa OC he was as corny as hell and didn't have nearly enough depth). Furthermore, if you have any questions about the form, the OC making process, or require any non-spoiler background information to help you with the construction of your character, I am welcome and rearing to help out! Just send me a DM across and I will do what I can to help out with making everything as clean and streamlined as I possibly can as I know it can be a daunting or draining experience for some!
Before I go to the submission list a few small extra mentions I would like to point out:
- With the submission list, I will be posting the talents that have appeared to avoid any possible repeats of talents but I will also be added the proportion of male to female characters as I have noticed so far 75% of the submissions have been female. While this does not mean you cannot submit females and I, in fact, encourage you to submit whatever you feel happy and proud to submit, it is important to note that the story does need an equal amount of both male and female characters in order for it to run effectively.
- In terms of character types, diversity is important in terms of personality types. Having a brooding bunch of teenagers or a pile of energetic friendly folk does not provide the means for conflict and drama which can make the Danganronpa series as spicy and intense as it is. Therefore, whenever I do future updates once I start trickle accepting characters - in the Author's Notes I am going to be including what character archetypes would be the most desirable to help flesh out the cast. Here are a few quick suggestions of character types to help with brainstorming. These are just ideas, however. Ultimately, the best characters come from people who are invested and put the time and effort into their character creation.
- Princess/prince, bratty type - an Ultimate who flaunts some kind of wealth or authority
- Laid back type - Very chilled and likes to take each day as it comes
- 'Bro/Lads lad' type - Male who is very much about having fun and keeping up high spirits
- 'Character with a mental disability' - Being able to explore and share awareness about mental health is very important to me personally so any character who has a mental disability is one I would love to research about and do as much justice as I can
- Comic relief type - Think of the Kazuichi or Yasuhiro type, someone whose character provides the comic relief in an otherwise dark and despairing environment
- Hot-tempered type - An Ultimate who has a bit of spice to them, whether it be physically confrontational or someone who swears and throws threats around
These are just a few examples of types of characters (on a base level) that could work as a foundation for building your OC for the story! You can use them or come up with your own! I am excited to see the array of creative teenagers you guys can come up with as I have already had submissions so far that have been impressive in how committed they have been to develop a strong personality and a detailed history.
I have no set date for the first wave of accepted submissions but I will most likely be aiming to accept 3-4 around the end of this month although it may be slightly earlier or later depending on entries and in life circumstances.
