Three creatures walked down the road that led through Mossflower Country. A badger named Mara, a Pegasus pony named Rainbow Dash, and a hare named Joshy who was a wizard. They had set out from the mountain of Salamandastron a few weeks ago in search of new adventures.
They came upon a sign standing by the side of the road.
"Look!" said Rainbow Dash. She read the message on the sign. "Redwall Abbey, 15 miles."
"I've always wanted to visit Redwall Abbey," said Mara. "I've heard tales of that place from some of the hares at Salamandastron."
Rainbow Dash nodded. "I went to Redwall once. The animals there are some of the friendliest you'll ever meet. And the food is the best in all Mossflower. Joshy could tell you. He used to live there. In fact, he was the head cook at one time, isn't that right, Joshy?"
Joshy didn't answer. The other two turned to look at him and saw an unhappy expression on his face. "What's the matter, Joshy?" Mara asked.
"I ain't sure I want to go back to Redwall, wot wot," said Joshy. "Last time I was there, somethin' terrible happened to me. I was almost killed by a zombie an' a vampire." (This happened in another story of mine, OUTCAST OF EQUESTRIA PART 2: ALL HELLGATES BREAKS LOOSE.)
"Oh yeah, I remember that now," said Rainbow Dash. "Well, I'm sure that won't happen again. I don't think monsters attack the Abbey on a regular basis. And besides, you've got the pride of the Wonderbolts to protect you."
"Not to mention the daughter of a Badger Lord," added Mara. "You just stick close to us and you'll come t'no harm, pal."
Joshy tried to smile. "All right. If it's what you two chaps want, I'll jolly well try to put on a brave face. I guess we're Redwall bound, wot!"
The sun was sinking in the sky. "Let's stop and rest for the night," Mara said. "We can reach Redwall by tomorrow afternoon."
They set up camp beside two curiously shaped stones at the edge of the path, which were shaped like two otters. Joshy took out his magic wand. "I s'pose it's up to me to rustle us up some tucker. Fried chicken!" He waved the wand in the air, and a bunch of fried chicken appeared on the ground, his favorite food.
"Next time we eat dinner it'll be at Redwall," Rainbow Dash promised her friends.
"I can hardly wait," Mara said.
