Chapter 18: Problems solved and problems gained

A/n: This will for now be it with the chapters. I'll try to remember to post some more in a few days. Have fun reading!

The following day, April went straight to the lair after her school day was done. Leo filled her in on the details of what happened, explaining to her that he tried to start with the antidote, but didn't get very far. April thanked him for trying and assured him that she would do everything she could to finish it. Leo walked out of the lab into the pit, where Mikey laid passed out on one of the beanbags and Raph took his original place at Donnie's side, keeping him cool with wet towels and a bowl of water. The two oldest exchanged worried looks and Leo started the conversation. "April is working on the antidote now. It looks like it's gonna take a while though." "I told Mikey to get some sleep. The goofball has been up all night tending to Donnieboy over here. He didn't want to, but I told him I would wake him if anything happened." Raph looked more worried than normal and a bit tired. Leo couldn't blame him, he didn't sleep much last night either, trying to decipher the notes of his brainy brother. He got a blanket and covered his youngest brother, taking a seat in the other beanbag.

A few hours later, April emerged from the lab, carrying a beaker with a pink/purple liquid in it. Leo and Raph saw her and both stood up, silently asking her if that was it. She nodded and walked over towards the unconscious turtle. Both brothers got out of her way, Raph moving to wake up Mikey. The youngest was fully awake once he got sight of the beaker in April's hand. All of them watched eagerly at their brother once April gave him the antidote. He swallowed it, but nothing happened. April took a spot next to the leader of the brothers, quietly saying: "I hope it works." The blue clad brother heard it and responded: "Me too. I don't think we could handle losing a brother", quietly adding to himself "Not again".

Some hours later Donnie's fever got noticeably better, so Leo sent both his brothers to freshen up and take a nap in their own beds while he watched over him. He replaced the towel on his brother's head and took the rest of the time to meditate, making sure not to go to deep to notice any change. At 1:07 AM, he heard a groan. Looking at his brother, he saw the towel had slipped off Donnie's head. Replacing it with a new one, he saw his genius brother's eyelids flutter. When they opened it was the most beautiful thing Leo had seen. How he missed those mahogany eyes. When they focused on him, Donnie tried to speak, but it sounded pretty weak. "L-Leo?" "Easy Don", Leo said kindly, "You're still recovering from that poison." "S-Shredder, h-he-" Leo shushed him. "It's okay, Donnie, you're safe. We're in the lair." Donnie shook his head a little, looking frustrated at his inability to form normal sentences. "That's not- That's not it." That confused Leo. Donnie tried to get up, which in turn spurred Leo into action. "Donnie, take it easy. What's wrong?" The eldest brother was starting to get worried. "I remember" Donnie stated. "Remember? Remember what?" "The superweapon. I remember what it is. Master Splinter is in danger. We have to warn him." He made another attempt at getting up, but wasn't strong enough. Leo gently pushed him back down. "What do you mean? What kind of weapon is it?" Donnie gave up on getting up, instead looking at Leo distraught. "It's a heat-seeking missile launcher with DNA-lock. Leo, he has Splinter's DNA."

The next morning everyone wanted to see how Donnie was doing. He still had a fever, so wasn't allowed off the couch, but it wasn't dangerously high anymore. Once Mikey came into the room, Donnie tried to sit up trying to look okay for his little brother. His arms were shaking trying to keep him up though, so he wasn't fooling the orange clad turtle. "Here, let me help you" Mikey told him, helping his brainy brother into a seating position. "Thanks" Donnie said, trying to smile, but failing at it. "You don't like being stuck on the couch, do you?" Mikey said knowingly. "I hoped you wouldn't notice it" Donnie responded rubbing the back of his head awkwardly. "I know you better than that, bro", Mikey said with a smile, "In fact, there are only two people who know you better than I do." Donnie raised an eyebrow at that statement. "Oh? Who?" "Master Splinter and you. You know yourself the best of course." That made Donnie smile. "I suppose so." "So what do I bring from your lab to make you happy again?" "If you could bring me the box labeled '107 batch C' and the centrifuge, you're the best." "Coming right up" Mikey said jokingly, heading towards the genius makeshift lab. Shortly after, he came back out with the requested items and put them down on the table in front of his brother. "Anything else?" he asked. "No thank you", Donnie responded, "this should be fine for now." Mikey headed over to the kitchen, pausing halfway to turn around with a serious face. "Don't overwork yourself. You need to get your rest too, okay?" "Don't worry Mikey, I promise I'll take it easy." With that Mikey headed into the kitchen.

A/n: So hey, here is a longer chapter. I rewrote parts of it compared to the original version on paper, because I didn't like how I did it before. I hope you guys like it this way. Let me know in the reviews if you did.
