She spent the time leading up to the wedding fixing herself food, getting ready, and catching up on Shameless, much to Billy's complaint. However, as the episodes went on, she could see him getting more and more caught up in the show. It made her smile to herself.
Around four o'clock, Rayna changed into her dress and did the final touches to her hair, putting it into a braided updo, with a few framing front pieces curled around her face. Billy got changed into his tux, and Sue and Seth came over so they could all attend the wedding together.
From the sounds of it, Sue and Charlie Swan had a thing going on. The two of them were just either too stubborn or too afraid to admit it. Knowing them, they probably both thought it would be disrespectful to Harry if they were to date. However, in Rayna's opinion, she felt that Harry would only want them to be happy. Especially Sue.
They headed over to Cullen's residence at four thirty, driving separately, Sue and Billy in Seth's truck, Rayna and Seth in Jacob's rabbit.
"I'm surprised Jake is letting you drive his baby." Rayna put quotation marks around the last word, knowing her brother was very particular about his cars.
"He trusts me." Seth said the words proudly, taking great care as they followed Sue.
"When did that happen?" Rayna questioned, adjusting the silver necklace she wore.
"Around three months ago, I think," Seth recalled, suddenly deep in thought. "You have a really great brother."
"I know," Rayna agreed, now fiddling with her silver bracelet. "I'm glad he came back."
"It sounds like you had something to do with it," Seth glanced at her, a smile on his face. "He said he had a dream that you told him to come home. He said he was already debating it, but then, he saw you."
Rayna froze. He had really seen her? How was that possible? "He saw me in a dream?"
Seth nodded, laughing. "Yeah, how crazy? He must have felt guilty about leaving so soon after you came home."
"Yeah." Rayna murmured, her mind racing. How could that be possible? It had to have been a coincidence. It just didn't make sense. Something like that, it didn't just happen. It just wasn't possible.
She pushed the matter out of her mind as they made their way down the winding driveway belonging to the Cullen's, admiring the lights they had hung up along the trees. It must have taken them hours, if not days, to put all of this together.
Everything was set up beautifully, it was very whimsical and classy. It was how Rayna would want her wedding to look, if she ever got married. It almost annoyed her that Bella had done it first. They sat in the back row, on Bella's side.
The music started, and everyone stood. The Cullen's were ethereal in their beauty, but yet, something about them was off. Rayna noted that their features were almost too sharp and angular, and their skin held no blemish or discoloration. They were pale white, just like the men she had seen in her dream last night.
When she actually focused on their faces, as they walked down the aisle, her knees went weak and she nearly fell over as she realized the groomsmen were the same pale demon men she had seen in her dream. They didn't just look like them, they were them.
There was nothing she could do but watch as Edward Cullen made his appearance, the man from her too real dream, the man marrying Bella Swan. All she could do was sit there and fret and worry about what he may possibly do to Charlie's daughter.
Charlie walked Bella down the aisle, her wedding dress elegant and gorgeous as she made her way down. She smiled at Seth when she passed, but her eyes were mainly focused on her groom.
The ceremony passed in a blur, Rayna not really paying much attention. Her mind was elsewhere, wondering what the hell was going on with her. She felt like she was losing her mind.
Seth stood to start clapping, and Rayna followed suit. She looked to see Edward and Bella finishing their first kiss as husband and wife, and then they left the altar with their party following. The rest of them were dismissed by row, and sent to a large open area that was decorated just as elaborately as the wedding aisle was.
Seth was the one to seek out Edward, dragging Rayna, Billy, and Sue along. He greeted Edward and Bella with a wide smile and an open hug, congratulating the two of them. Edward and Bella both thanked him.
"I hope you'll be happy, Bella," Billy said, with a small smile. Rayna could tell it was the smile he gave when he knew someone was making a mistake, but wouldn't listen to reason. She had been the receiver of that look many times.
"Thank you," Bella said, pausing before she asked a question. "Have you heard from him?"
"I'm sure Jake wishes you the best." Billy said firmly, ending the discussion. Rayna wondered why he didn't tell her he had come back earlier in the day, but figured he probably just wasn't going to show.
"Well I plan on getting drunk," Charlie broke the silence, adjusting the sleeves of his tux. Everyone laughed at that. "I think there's some champagne here, somewhere."
"Sparkling sounds good." Billy agreed, turning and knocking into Charlie. Rayna noted he seemed to break up whatever Charlie was going to say to Sue.
Rayna followed them, Seth slinging an arm over her shoulders. They stood near the champagne table, and Rayna managed to sweet talk her way into letting Billy give her a glass, and Charlie to pretend he didn't notice her underaged drinking.
As she sipped her drink, she noticed Seth and Billy staring at who she assumed was a relative of Edward, with her similar skin and golden eyes. She was blonde, leggy, and gorgeous. But the way she stared at Seth, like she wanted to come over and rip his head off, made Rayna nervous.
"Do you know that girl?" Rayna questioned quietly, nudging Seth's shoulder.
Seth shook his head, breaking the eye contact he had held with her. "No, no I don't know who she is."
"Looks like she wants to kill you." Rayna muttered, taking a long gulp of her champagne. She wished there was something stronger.
The blonde in question spun around on her heel, and stormed away from the party. She slipped into the woods, and was out of sight.
"Well, she's gone now," Billy said firmly, downing the rest of his champagne. "And it's time for another drink."
"I hear that," Charlie agreed with gusto, knocking back his glass. "They've gotta have some scotch somewhere."
"Right over there." Sue murmured, a hand on Seth's arm. They shared a look that didn't go unnoticed by Rayna.
They made their way over to a table filled with all different kinds of liquor, and the temptation was too great for Rayna to just walk away. While the others went to go find a seat at a table, she excused herself by saying she was going to use the bathroom. She stopped at the liquor station, and as quick as she could, she made herself a coke and rum, heavy on the rum. Plus, she refilled her champagne glass twice, drinking it before she made her way back to the table.
No one seemed to notice as she got progressively more tipsy throughout the night, although Seth did keep looking at her weird. She kept the liquor flowing, mixing it with different sodas so no one would be able to tell she had any alcohol in her drinks. It was while she was dancing with Seth and she was barely able to keep her balance that Seth said something to her.
"Maybe you shouldn't have had that champagne," Seth carefully spun her, catching her when she lost her balance. "You seem really out of it."
Rayna responded with a giggle, resting her head on his shoulder. "I'm fine, Sethy. In fact, I think it's time for another."
She stumbled over to the liquor table, intending on pouring another glass of whatever she could get her hands on, but Seth inconspicuously grabbed her elbow and steered her over to an empty table.
"Have you really only had one glass of champagne?" Seth questioned seriously, his hand on her shoulder.
Rayna giggled again. "Yeah, Seth, of course that's all I had."
"I think maybe you-" Seth began, but cut himself off. "I'll be right back."
Seth got up from his chair very quickly, and half jogged towards the Cullen's house. Rayna was confused as to why he left so suddenly, and decided to follow him. She figured he went off into the woods, so she started stumbling her way through the brush, ignoring the stinging as thorns from sharp plants brushed against her exposed legs. It was so dark, and she had drunk so much, that she had no sense of direction and had no idea where Seth was. He couldn't have gotten far.
In the distance, she heard Jacob's voice. He was shouting something, and she just barely heard him over the music drifting out of the wedding, She stumbled in that direction, tripping over a fallen log and slicing her hand on a jagged rock.
"Fuck!" Rayna hissed, shaking her hand like that would make the blood go away. She was so drunk she barely registered the pain. "Shit!"
She grabbed a leaf off the ground and used that to wipe the blood off her hand, then focused on getting herself off the ground. It proved to be a difficult task, but she was finally able to get up. She had dirt all on her knees and dress, and her hair had started to fall out of the bun she had put it in.
Taking great care not to trip, Rayna made her way towards where she had heard Jacob's voice. To her surprise, Seth was walking towards her, sighing with relief when he caught sight of her.
"Rey, what were you thinking?" Seth quickly jogged over to her, taking in her injury. "How did you do that?"
"I tripped over a bitch ass tree." Rayna rolled her eyes, showing Seth her wound.
Seth's eyes widened, and he nodded as he tried to process everything going on. "How about we get you home?"
"Or I go take another shot of tequila?" Rayna nodded to herself, heading towards the lights and music. Before she could get far, someone picked her up and threw her over their shoulder. "What the hell?"
"You are drunk off your ass." Paul. Where did he come from?
"Here's the keys to the rabbit." Seth said, and from where Rayna was hanging upside down on Paul's back she watched as he handed the keys over.
"Thanks." Paul grunted, and started walking. Seth watched for a moment, and then slowly walked into the woods and disappeared. Paul shifted Rayna around so that he was now carrying her bridal style. He had no shirt, and Rayna enjoyed pressing herself against his warm chest.
However, the combination of being slung on his back, moved around to his chest, his walking, and being too drunk to tell up from down made her throat get shorter and her stomach churn. She barely got a word out before Paul had her set down and she was throwing up the contents of her stomach.
"How much did you drink?" Paul asked incredulously, holding her steady as she kept throwing up.
"Don't remember," Rayna choked out, spitting. She was done being sick, for now.
"Was this your first time?" Paul asked, gently picking her back up and making his way over to the rabbit.
Even in her drunk state, Rayna knew it would be best if Paul thought this was her first time. She nodded weakly, screwing her eyes shut.
Paul chuckled at that, and then he gently set her down in the passenger seat of the car. "Lightweight."
He said something else that Rayna didn't quite catch, cause the minute her body hit the seat she shut her eyes and drifted to sleep.
