"Hello, my tiny mutant chicklings," Doctor Nemesis[1] said.
"After the initial observations, I found out, in short: you were broke. Hope touched you. You were fixed. Whatever "fixed means" is different for each of you. I will now reveal what "fixed" means for each one of you. Exciting!"
"Laurie, bad News. You are extraordinarily blue. Bar that, you can fly and react even at Transonic speeds."
"Transonic. Hmm." Laurie liked the sound of that
"And Teon, unlike what you may believe, is not dumb, not really. Teon can parse complex ideas just fine, he simply no longer cares about them in favor of the hyper-efficient processing of his primary survival instincts. He is fast, strong, and imprinted on a certain redheaded young lady, so be nice." Nemesis revealed
"Oh- Miss Summers, it seems I was right about you all along. You scare everyone. In the future we will need to do - more testing" he added as a second thought
"Oh, Great" Hope said sarcastically.
"Idie is just fine. Her Temperatur manipulation allows her to move heat from one point to another. Working magnificently." He grabbed Idie's shoulder "There's nothing wrong with you"
"Lucas, dick-tator headmaster stole your file, he wants to talk to you, he should be in his office." Luke nodded and left, Nemesis then turned towards the speedster in the room.
"And then there is Gabriel. You're very, very interesting. Let us turn to the scientific method to confirm or deny my hypothesis. Please, step outside."
They went to the beach and Nemesis looks at Gabriel and says "Run over there. Straight line, as fast as you can. You're a speedster, you'll skim the surface"
"Whatever!"
Gabriel runs, only to fall into the water, getting a chuckle out of the other Lights.
"You're not a speedster You're a localized time-manipulator. Yes. You're speeding up, but you're not running any faster." Nemesis said
"You knew that would happen?"
"You better believe it. I'm a believer of show-not-tell. Anyway, that's everything we have for now. Headmaster dictator Cyclops would like a word. Well… Dry off first, Speedy Gonzalez. The fastest mu-"
Before Nemesis could finish his sentence a pissed of Gabriel run to him and beat him into the ground "Do not call me that"
-Headmaster's Office, Cyclops's POV-
God dangit!
I hate all this paperwork, if I were to blow it with an optic blast would anyone care?
*sigh* How did the Professor use to do all this paperwork?
I have to spend 5 hours every day on them alone. Then there is staff management, threat assessment, threat elimination, human/mutant relationship management, new mutant recruitment, and countless other jobs.
*knock*knock*
"Come in," I said and Emma[2] walks in, wearing her usual attire.
"Darling, the Forth Light should be here soon, you asked me to assess his state, remember."
"Yes, thank you, Emma," I said only for Emma to walk next to me and grab me by my tie, pulling me into a kiss.
*cough*cough* "I'm sorry, am I interrupting something?" the Forth Light said
"Ah, Mister Long, no you are not interrupting anything. Please come in, we have a few questions."
The kid looked around the room and finally walked in. "Please take a seat."
He nods his head and sits down. "Alright, Mister Long-"
"Call me Luke," he said.
"Alright Luke, the tests Nemesis did on you show some interesting finds."
"What kind of interesting finds?" he said, seemingly getting nervous.
"Well for starters he could not label the limit of your gravitational powers after you easily lifted 500 tons," Emma said with her signature smirk.
The kid rubbed the back of his head "Yeah, I just changed the direction of gravity, so it is no biggy"
"Maybe, but what we found interesting was your physical tests," I said
"What was so special about that? Yeah, I got some good results, but Teon could lift far more than I do, and could also run far faster."
"Yes, while that is true, according to Dr. Nemesis your physical attributes are not related to your mutation, and it happens to match up against one Steve Rogers. Do you have any idea why that might be?" I asked
"Wait, are you suggesting I'm not only a mutant but a Super Soldier as well?" he asked in disbelief
"We do not know, that's why we are asking," I said
"Well, I don't think so... But I guess it is possible." the kid said
"I see, thank you for your time, feel free to return to your friends," I said
"Uhm, before I go, did Nemesis find any indication of Super Soldier Serum or something like that in his tests?" he asked
"No, he did not," I told him the truth
"Thanks," the kid said and quickly left
After the kid left I turned to Emma, "Was he lying?"
"He has excellent telepathic defenses, some of the best I have ever seen, but from this up close I could at least tell he wasn't lying," she said, "although he wasn't telling the whole truth" she added as a second thought.
"I guess we'll have to wait and see. It's just worrisome to think that the first Potential Omega Level Mutant since M-Day was part of an experiment, and him having no family or background is not a good indication" *sigh* "I have no idea how Professor used to deal with all these unknowns."
"If you ask me. You are handling them just fine, darling" Emma said as she kissed me once more.
-An Hour Later, Utopia Dorms, General POV-
Luke spent the last hour thinking if he had Super Soldier Serum or not, he then decided not to think about it anymore, since he had no real way of determining if Body Perk gave him the serum or not, and it wouldn't change anything anyway.
Instead, he chose to meet with the rest of the Lights and now they were going to their new dorms.
"We'd like you to consider Utopia as a second home. You're a mutant. You will always have a place here." Cyclops said "While things have changed, the core of Professor Xavier's dream remains. This is a school for talented young people. We'd like to teach you." He then turned towards them "But that's entirely your call."
"Is it really?" the blue mutant asks
"Yes, it is. I hope you'll stay, but if you don't want to…"
Laurie turned to Hope "What are you doing Hope?"
"I'm staying, but what doe that-"
"Everyone else?" Laurie asked the other Lights
"Staying."
"I'm staying"
"Don't have anywhere else to be"
"It's the best place for me"
"Woof"
Taking everyone's confirmation Laurie smirked, "So guess what I'm doing?"
Kitty started to show everyone into their rooms, but Hope followed after Gabriel and gave him a thank you kiss for saving her life in Tokyo, twice.
The rest of the girls approached Keiji, who gently refused to go with them, and instead went into his room to take a shower.
Luke, on the other hand, did not wait for anyone and just threw himself into his room and jumped on his bed "What the hell am I doing here?" he asked himself
-The Next Day, Shooting Range-
"Idie! Short, controlled bursts!" Hope shouted
"Yes, Hope," Idie said as she readjusted her shooting
"Better, much better, and Laurie, try to hit the island at least."
"I'm trying. I'm Canadian, but I'm not a shooty Canadian." Laurie said
Hope turned towards Luke "Luke I know you don't like guns, but start shooting already. This is team training."
"Fine," he then shot a gun for the first time, barely missing the bullseye.
"Right. We're making progress here… But I want to see some bulls before we break for lunch." Hope said
"Great so we're all going to starve bec-" Gabrielle couldn't finish what he was going to say because Teon hit three bullseyes in a row and started to shout "EAT"
"Okay Let's go eat," Hope said, only for Magneto[3] and Xavier[4] to show out of nowhere "Oh, Hi Erik.
"Hope, I wanted you to meet a very old and dear friend of mine," Magneto said, gesturing towards Xavier
"Hey everyone, I'll catch up. Hey Laurie, you can go now."
"I'll be in later," Laurie said, still practicing. "Just a few more rounds."
Hope then noticed Luke standing next to Xavier "Umm… Professor, may I have a chat with you after your talk with Hope?"
"Alright, Mr. Long," Xavier said
"You know my name?" Luke asked in surprise
"Of course, I know all of your names, you are, mutant kinds Lights after all," Xavier said as he walked away with Hope and Magneto
After Hope tried to give a lecture on mutant/human relationship to Magneto and Charles Xavier, she ran to catch up with the other Lights.
"What do you think?" Magneto asks his old friend
"I think you took me here for the pleasure of seeing me getting lectured by a teenage girl, who needs some lessons in mutant/human relationship theories. But that is not important" Xavier said, he saw Luke flying towards them "Erik could you give me and Mr. Long a minute please"
Magneto nods "I will Charles, we'll have to finish our talk later,"
After Magneto left Xavier turned to Luke.
"Ah Mr. Long, I must say it is a pleasure to have a chat with you," he said
"You as well, Professor."
"What did you wish to speak with me?"
"Sir, um, I'm worried that ever since I became a mutant I've been changing, and not only physically but mentally as well."
"And this change scares you?" he asked
"It's just, everything is changing so fast."
"Could you elaborate on that?"
Luke nods his head "I mean I was just an average teenager until I met Hope, a few days ago. Before that, the idea of being near guns or near-dead situations would have upset my stomach. And now, I have been in multiple life-threatening situations, and today started to learn how to use guns."
"Mr. Long, I understand your worries, but unfortunately most mutants have to go through what you are experiencing right now."
Luke waited for a few seconds "Is that all? I'm sorry but I expected more from the great Charles Xavier. 'Most mutants have to go through' this? That's it?" he all but exclaimed, small rocks started to float slightly.
But the Professor maintained his cool and said "Unfortunately, Mr. Long, that is the world we live in right now. Now if you could please calm down"
Luke saw the floating rocks and took a deep breath, letting them fall "*sigh* I'm sorry, it's just I expected more of an answer I guess. Your reputation kinda makes it seem like you have all the answers."
"My reputation has seen better days. Alas, no one has all the answers, not even I. But I can at least advise you to take solace in the fact you are not alone. There are 5 others like you. Try to be each other's strength, because unfortunately, that is all you can do."
"I guess…" Luke said, not wanting to tell him why he was different from the other Lights.
"Is there something you wish to tell me?" Professor asks
"No, sir. Nothing." Luke said
"Very well, then. Off you go." Professor said
Luke said "Goodbye" and flew to the lunch hall, hoping Teon left anything for him.
Charles looks behind him and smiles "So, Erik, what do you think?", only for Magneto to make himself visible.
"He seems to be an interesting young mutant, even for a Light."
"Indeed."
"And he seems to have secrets of his own,"
"Maybe, but he is a gifted young man trying to find his path in life, just the kind of youngster I opened my school for. I am interested to see what he'll become. What all these new Lights will become."
"So do I old friend, so do I"
-Scene Change: Ethics Class, Emma Frost as Teacher, Luke's POV-
Whose idea was it to let Emma Frost teach a bunch of hormonal boys about ethics?
I do not think anyone of us in the class has even looked at the board ever since she walked in here with her perky boobs, juicy ass, and short dress. I know I didn't.
Jack Kirby damn it! Scott is one lucky man! Not only is he dating her, but he also used to be married both Jean Grey and her clone.
*his hormonal teenage mind then starts to imagine Emma Frost, Jean Grey and Madelyne Pryor (Jean's Clone) making out, things were about to get more heated within his mind until he saw Hope got up from her seat*
"Miss Summers. Where are you going?" Ms. Frost asks
"Out," The redhead said, and as she was leaving, the rest of the Lights, excluding me and Laurie followed after her.
I waited a few seconds for Little Luke to calm down and go after her as well, although I had no idea why I followed her.
"What- No. This isn't on. Return. The lot of you. Before I-" Ms. Frost tried to say only for Laurie to jump out of her seat as well and follow after us
"Sorry Ms. Frost, I'll copy up the notes afterward," Laurie said, following the rest of us.
"Hope! This is an ugly insurrection and I will not tolerate it, you will return your little posse to class this second. Or I will have you on your knees polishing my booths with your rebellious tongue." Emma shouted after us,
"Why are you so scared of me?" Hope asked her
Emma scoffed "I've been breaking little girls beneath my will for longer than you've been talking, Miss Summers, Do not think of crossing me."
Hope ignores her threats "As I said: Scared. Don't get in my way, stay out of my mind, and if you don't I'll leave you like a cinder." she said and then stormed off, and we followed after her.
"Go then! Hurry along after your mistress like good little slaves. Just don't expect to come back from wherever she leads you." Ms. Frost said, getting me to think about why I was following after Hope.
After a few seconds of walking, Gabriel opened his arms and shouted "That was plain badass. You just slapped down the White Queen!"
"I hate her," was Hope's only response
Gabriel was talking some nonsense that I did not bother listening to. Instead, I thought about what Ms. Frost said. She called us 'slaves'. Is that what we are? We comply with Hope's demands, not even realizing if it is her wishes or ours.
Laurie seemed extremely unhappy with leaving the class, yet here she is. I did not want to leave either, so why did I?
I was broken out of my thoughts by Hope going into her room.
"What are you guys gonna do now?" I asked the rest of the Lights
"Don't know, free period?" Speedster wannabe said
"I got some Uno cards, we can play if you guys want to," Laurie suggested.
"I guess I'll join," Gabriel said
"Um- what is this Uno you are talking about?" Idie asks
"You never played Uno? You got to play it, don't worry I'll teach you" Laurie said, getting Idie to nod. Then they turned towards me
I shrugged "Why not, got nothing better to do." I needed something to clear my head.
"I'm sorry, but I'm quite busy," Kenji said, only for Gabriel to make a snide command
"What is a freak like you have to be busy about?" Not Speedy Gonzales asks
"Gabriel, shut up," I said as I changed his gravitational pull to 3g, "Unlike you, Kenji is an accomplished artist,"
"Okay, okay just chill man, I was just joking" he pleaded and I released the pressure, I seriously did not like the guy.
Teon had already run off to somewhere, probably trying to dry hump someone or something, so the three of us and Gabriel went to Laurie's room to play Uno.
-That Night, Nemesis Lab, General POV-
Laurie, Luke, Idie, Gabriel, Kenji, and Teon were trying on their new super suits.
"So do these suits have any function except making us easily noticeable?" Luke asked, clearly uncomfortable in his new red and yellow uniform, it also had a red cape as well, which he hated.
"It makes us look damn good," Gabriel said, looking to himself in the mirror.
"Your suits are all tear and temperature resistant, it should also protect you from low-caliber bullets. Mister Uedo's suit is designed for easy access to his power. Ms. Neal's suit is skin tight and will not catch on fire even at transonic speeds, and yes, as Mr. Cohuelo puts it, they make you all look damn good" Kavita Rao[5] said with a smirk.
"Okay, that's nice and all but why is half of Idie's suit missing?" Luke said, gesturing to her missing torso "She is not bulletproof, so wouldn't it be better if her suit protected her torso? Plus she is a 13-year-old girl, she doesn't need to wear something like that."
Dr. Rao thought how to respond to that, but realized she had none. "There must have been a mistake. I'll make sure to re-adjust the suit"
Luke nodded before ripping the cape from his suit "Also keep the cape, I've seen The Incredibles"
That got a small chuckle out of The Lights, except for Teon who was currently being held down by Kenji after his third attempt at 'mating' with Dr. Rao.
-The Morning After, Outside Cyclops' Office, Luke's POV-
Hope got us, Lights, to follow her to Cyclops' office, in full uniform, and then made us stay outside. She wants us to be sanctioned as a team and take on missions for stabilization and recruitment of new mutants.
And she just got out of the office.
"Any problems?" Gabriel asks.
"We're golden unless we mess up," Hope said.
"No worries then, because let's be honest, when we look this good, how can we fail?" Gabriel said, getting everyone to roll their eyes at him, including Teon.
Characters:
Doctor Nemesis [1]: Mutant with a cool backstory. He was a scientist for allies during WW2, he then became a superhero, felt under-appreciated and became a Nazi Agent, after being betrayed by Nazi's he became a Nazi Hunter. And now, he is a Genius Mutant with a terrible personality.
Emma Frost [2]: Also known as White Queen, she is a telepath who can turn into a diamond form. She is also an ex-stripper and an ex-supervillain, who is now a teacher for young mutants and is dating the headmaster, Scott Summers.
Magneto[3]: Master of Magnetism. An old enemy of X-Men who allied with them after the events of House of M for the sake of mutant-kind.
Professor X[4]: Charles Xavier is arguably the most skilled telepath in the world. He is the founder of X-Men, but currently, his relationship with most of them is strained due to his shadier actions coming to light: erasing Cyclops' brother from their minds, forming Illuminati, etc.
Kavita Rao[5]: Despite being a human, she is a member of the X-Club, tech support for X-Men.
