-One Week Later, Utopia Island Shores, General POV-
Luke was sitting on the air, in a lotus position. His eyes were closed. In front of him there was a chess set, behind him there were a dozen large rocks spinning clock-wise.
"Queen takes Knight E7," as he said so White Queen takes Black Knight at E7 and traps the Black King. "Checkmate"
The chess set then floats back to the ground and the pieces are placed inside a box. He then opens his eyes and the spinning rocks are smashed into tiny pieces.
Then Luke's eyes started glowing blue. He felt something.
-Scene Change: The Lab-
Laurie was with Storm, flying against a wind turbine,
Outside the protective glass, Dr. Nemesis and Idie were watching her progress.
"I have a theory that by pushing Miss Tromette with extreme conditions, we'll see a morphic cha- oh you're only 14, Idie! Your intellect couldn't hope to comprehend. Just watch…" Dr. Nemesis said, hoping for Laurie to transform.
Idie was glued to the glass until she and Laurie felt something.
-Scene Change: Student Quarter-
Kenji started painting, as he continued to paint, using his black goo, he started smiling madly.
And then he took a step back, he felt something.
-Scene Change: The Beach-
Wolverine and Teon were fighting on the beach, Teon losing badly.
"Good," Wolverine said, seeing improvement in Teon's movements. "Now break,"
Logan sat down and took a long sip from his beer then asked "Is Hope doing okay?"
"Woof"
"Good. That's good"
But then Teon looked up as he felt something.
-Scene Change: The Student Kitchen-
Gabriel was singing about how happy he was about Hope, not noticing the Mutant Messiah drinking a soda in the background
"And Then she kissed ME!" Gabriel said, still not noticing Hope.
"Let me guess, not original lyrics?" Hope makes her presence known.
"Er- about that- it's not 100% original, but yeah, it's from Goodfellas."
"Never seen it," Hope said
"Well, you've probably never seen a movie future girl" Gabriel tried to flirt
"I should go to one sometime," Hope said
"You want compa-" Gabriel was cut off
At that moment they felt something.
They all felt awakening of a new mutant.
"Scramble, get everyone," Hope said
"On it," Gabriel said as he ran to tell everyone to get ready for a mission,
-Scene Change: Utopia Island Shores-
"Mision, Now, Hurry," Gabriel said before leaving,
"Yeah fine, don't even ask if I want to risk my life going on missions, just expect me to do so." *sigh* "Fine..."
-Scene Change: Black Bird, Luke POV-
A new mutant appeared and we are being sent to stabilize and retrieve him or her.
We also got a new liaison for missions now, Kitty Pryde[1]. I always liked her character more than Rogue, so I was happy about it.
But all Hope does is try to show Kitty up, that she is in charge of the team and the missions we take.
She even said "we train or everything", including to kill as if we were her private army.
That thought disgusted me. 'Hope Summers our Mighty General, and we, Lights, her lowly soldiers, ready follow her every command'
"Utopia to Kitty! We've been in contact with the German Authorities. Advised them assistance is in transit. There appears to be a problem." Cyclops said over the radio.
"That's shocking," I said as if a mission could ever go without a problem.
-Scene Change: Berlin-
"No movement inside the hospital. No one picking up calls. People have collapsed. We sent in a bomb-defusal robot to have a closer look and they all appear to be asleep. When we heard specialists were on the way we backed off. Though we didn't know they were children" A police officer said
"Hmm. And that's it?" Kitty asks
"Yes," the officer said
"Okay Gabriel, take a run" Hope orders
"Affirmative" Gabriel run, only to fall asleep as soon as he was in the range of the new mutant.
"Is he?" Hope asks
"Taking his beauty sleep? Yeah." Luke said
"Okay Laurie, you try and retrieve Gabriel" she orders
"Hope! No way!" Laurie reject
"Scientific method. We need to be sure." was her reply
"Grr. Already you know what buttons to press." Laurie said as she flew to retrieve Gabriel, only for her to fall asleep as well
"Just great. 2 down 4 to go. Do you want to send Teon to fetch them?" Luke asked sarcastically, only for Teon to go and bring Laurie and Gabriel, but not falling asleep for some reason.
"I think we're looking at a telepath. For some reason, they're not registering Teon. Maybe he's protected or something."
"No. Emma had no problems with him. She scanned everyone, but Luke. It's something else." Kitty said
Luke sighed in relief 'Thank Jack Kirby for my telepathic defenses. I wouldn't want her to know about some of the things I think about her."
"I may be able to help," Kenji said "Ther's a philosophy that art is about making life tolerable. To protect you from the psychic trauma of life. I think I can make a work to do that here…"
"Er- okay go for it Kenji, wait you can protect yourself from telepathy?" Hope asks
Only for Kenji to nod "to some extend" and his tentacles connected to Hope, Laurie, and Gabriel
"Okay, we're going in. Idie, I want you to stay here. This is too dangerous for you. Kitty-"
"I'll deal with the authorities and arrange backup. Getting Emma here, for starters." Kitty said only for Hope to refuse
"We don't have the time for that."
"I have to agree with her, and an out of control telepath out of control could be far more dangerous than making people fall asleep," Luke said as they walked into the hospital.
"Yeah let's make sure this new mutant doesn't pull off a Kenji,"
"I object to characterizing any mutant creating widespread panic as 'pulling a Kenji'."
"Gabriel let it go already, we were all out of control," Luke said, seriously disliking Gabriel more and more every day.
"Cool it, you guys"
"You know. I don't think they're asleep. The breathing's wrong. They're just… lying there."
"Telepathic paralysis… Okay, the Light's here. We need to find him. We need to go room by room until-" Hope was cut off.
"Woof!" Teon barked
"You know? Take lead. Quickest way." Hope said to her pet
"Woof!" Teon barked again and jumped, destroying the ceiling.
Kenji made stairs out of his body for himself, Gabriel, and Hope. Laurie and Luke just flew through the hole in the ceiling.
After they left people started to wake up.
"You know, I actually want to be a doctor, you know. But medical schools are way too expensive in the US. Do you think X-Men would pay for it?" Luke said, revealing a piece of his past to the team for the first time
"Why would you want to be a doctor? You are an X-Men." Gabriel asks
"What can I say, it is a childhood dream."
"My mother wanted me to be a doctor as well, but I just find hospitals to be too creepy," Laurie said.
"Enough everyone, we need to find the… movement." Hope said as she noticed a pregnant woman standing
"UNSELF!" She shouted "Womb safe! Reject womb reject!"
"Er… the mother's not the Light?" Gabriel asks,
Only for Laurie to mock him "Top of the class Gabriel"
Hope looked at the mother "I need to touch him to stop this. And I don't think he wants to be born."
"I could manage a cesarian, but I couldn't guarantee either would survive" Kenji suggested
"KENJI!" Hope screams at his face.
Luke looks behind and sees an army of mindless drones "UNSELF! UNSELF! UNSELF!" they were shouting
"Guys… I think the birth got extra complications" Laurie said
While this was going on Idie and Kitty started talking, and as Idie learned Kitty is sleeping with Colossus without getting married, she called her an immoral woman and throw a fit about 'X-People' being crazy.
Back in Hospital Luke created a force field around the Lights and the army of mindless Drones "Guys I can hold this field all day long, but people there will hurt themselves trying to get in. Do something."
"REJECT!" Mother screeched.
Hope then grabbed Teon and ordered him to "Release her. The baby's scared."
"He's scared? I'm scared." Laurie said
"Definitely. The baby is going full Kenji" Gabriel's snide comment got him a dirty look from Kenji and Luke.
The Baby Light[2] increased his telepathic range, and people outside the hospital, including Kitty and Idie started running to the hospital, shouting "REJECT UNSELF". Idie was freezing the ground she walked on and throwing flames in front of her.
"Guys we need a plan! Idie's flames can hurt all those people there." Luke shouted
"Alright. We need to back off. Make the baby feel we're not a threat. Teon, knock us a hole through to the next room. Laurie, get Idie out of the control range."
Laurie snaps the tentacle cord of Kenji that was protecting him and flew faster than she ever did before, and within seconds grabbed Idie and flew to the sky, changing into a beautiful mermaid-like creature in the process.
Unfortunately, Hope's backing off-plan did not work, and the baby's range kept on growing, drawing more and more people to the hospital.
"Kenji can you plug into everyone and shield them all?" Hope asked the impossible
"Please, I'm an artist, not a factory," Kenji told her
"Well, Laurie's coming fast with Miss Burny and self-hateful," Gabriel said
Idie, froze the door, letting Luke lift his shield so Kenji can connect Hope to the mother/baby telepathically.
Hope tried to reach out to her, but it didn't work.
Laurie did the same, telling her how great Germany is in education, economy, and of course, an unborn baby had no clue what any of those were.
Then Idie tried and tell her if he is born he could get christened so that he might not burn in hell. The baby pretty much screamed at her.
Luke then tried, but it didn't work, his telepathic defenses made Kenji's attempt to connect pretty much impossible.
Kenji did connect to the mother but he couldn't find a reason for the baby to born into this hateful world.
And finally, Teon gives it a try. His instinctual approach and attitude resonated with the baby. The baby decided to Fight and Live.
When the baby was born the first person he touched was Hope, stabilizing his mutation, Hope grabs the baby and lifts him like he is Simba.
'What the hell just happened?' Luke asked himself, still unclear how Teon managed to calm down a baby.
Hope holds the baby in her arms "It's a boy. And I think he's going to grow up to be very special" she said
'Well unless a mutant hate group happens to watch the news and decides to kill the baby before he can grow up' Luke thought to himself, 'Self Note: Ask Miss Pryde what kind of protection the X-Men will provide to the baby and the mother'
The Lights exits the hospital, Hope, and Laurie helping a tired Gabriel walk. "So in 13 years or so when he's the right age, his X-Gene will reactivate?"
"I guess so. Until then everything back to normal" Hope said
'Well except for a few dozen people who died in the hospital and in the city' Luke thought to himself since any surgery would fail after the medical team falls asleep in the middle of his, patients go on without medication will die as well. The people who were driving would have had an accident as well. Although it's probably easier for the Lights not to think about any of them.
"The extremely bloody miracle of birth" as Kenji puts it
"Oh please! I like kids. They are cute" Gabriel said
"Yuck" Laurie said, making her opinion about kids clear
"I definitely want children when I'm older. Like when I'm 17." Idie a said, getting a rise out of Luke
"You better not even going anywhere near boys until you are 20 missie," Luke said, as he, for one reason or the other, come to see Idie as a little sister for some reason.
That got a little chuckle out of the Lights and a pout from Idie, then Kitty walked towards them
"Good work everyone. That was more intense than we were expecting but you handle it. Bravo." Kitty said, "Unfortunately we've got no time to relax, we need to get back to Utopia as soon as possible, there's something we got to deal with."
"Who attacked the island," Luke asks in worry
"Nothing like that, Teon's family started legal action. They want him back." Kitty said
Everyone went wide-eyed, 'Teon has a family?' Luke asked himself, there was no mention of a family when they were on a mission to stabilize him.
