Authors note;
This fanfiction is inspired by one of my favorite child hood movies, 'Anastasia'. On this story Kyubii and Naruto have no memories of the past, the only thing that Kyubii remembers is that he is a bijuu.
Summary;
After the assassination of the fourth Hokage and his wife, their five-year-old daughter had vanished without any trace. Thirteen years later, a huge reward had been placed on the missing child. Whoever shall find the lost daughter of the fourth will claim half of the inheritance of the lost girl. Far across Konoha, in a small village an orphan girl who has no memories of her past embarks on a journey to find the truth about her past.
There's a rumor in Konoha
Thirteen years had passed since the death of the Yondaime and his wife, the people of the village are still baffled at the mysterious disappearance of the of the couple's child. The girl was around six or five when she vanished into thin air, the third hokage had announced that who so ever will bring back the child alive and well shall be awarded. The reward was that they can claim half of the girl's inheritance.
Since the girl had possessed the kyubii, the council feared that it will end up in the wrong hands. The girl didn't know how to control the biju that was sealed inside her, and the decision of placing a reward on the girl had led many people in the land of fire to go on a search hunt.
There were many charlatans who tried to fool the fifth hokage and the council. Many impostors came to Konoha claiming that they were the lost Namikaze, and demanding the reward from the hokage.
A small village in the borders of the land of fire was a small orphanage that is run by an old spinster named Miko.
An eighty-year-old woman was dragging a teenage girl outside doors, the old woman who was hunched back due to her age was still in good shape. Despite being old, she still had a strong grip and good eyes sight. She was deaf but at least she was suffering from dementia. The woman is name Miko and she owns the orphanage, it was small but they never run out of food resources since she has the kid make their small vegetable garden in the back ground. She also taught the children how to read, write and count.
"Remember, girl. Once you have reached the place, tell Hito that Miko sends her regards." The old crone told the young lady.
The girl was now eighteen years old, and had to go on her own. The orphanage was no longer responsible for their care, since they're now all grown up. Miko decided to send the girl to a relative of hers in another town to work there as a helper.
The girl was tall and slender, she had a long golden hair that reaches her hips. She had blue eyes and peach colored skin, she had soft marks on her cheeks that resemble cat whiskers.
"I don't think that I'll reach the place." The girl mumbled.
"Huh! You know I'm deaf girl can you speak louder!" the old crone yelled.
"Ugh" she groaned.
She hated repeating everything to the old woman, it was too much of a drag. The girl stopped walking and the old woman stopped beside her.
"I don't think I should go there." She said in a louder tone.
The old woman heard the girl and looked at her from head to toe.
"You want to find them? How's that even possible? You don't remember a damn thing.!" The old crone exclaimed.
"Kyu-chan, might remember." The girl said.
"You might dismember?" the woman asked raising an eyebrow.
The blonde repeated her sentence to the old lady, the old lady chuckled at her.
"You're asking your imaginary friend to help? Naruto, you're too old for that." The old woman chuckled.
'I'll eat that damn hag!'
'What's there to eat, she's just a bag of bones'
"I'll just go." Naruto muttered walking away from the cackling old woman.
Naruto had carried a backpack that contain her clothes, her frog pouch that contains her savings and a lunch that the old woman made for her. Granny Miko told her that Hito was a fish vendor and he was looking for a helper. The old woman even suggested to Naruto to marry one of Hito's son.
But the idea of settling down without knowing her past, made her feel uneasy. When she was six, she woke up in a forest and she couldn't remember anything. She couldn't remember her family, and where she came from. When Kyubbii spoke to her for the first time after a week of settling in the orphanage, she thought that it was her father's voice that she was hearing.
Kyubbi explained to her what he was but Kyubbi couldn't remember how he was sealed inside Naruto. Both Kyubbii and Naruto had no memories before they came to the orphanage. Everyone in the orphanage thought that Naruto was talking to an imaginary friend, to help her cope up with her trouble of being an orphan.
But she knew that Kyubii wasn't a figment of her imagination, there were books in the orphanage. She stumbled upon a book that was about the bijuu and Jinkuris, this helped her understood what kurama was. But she was scared that people might have find her terrifying so she hid the truth of Kurama. She also had the ability to heal faster when she's wounded. She kept everything a secret since Kyubbi warned her that people will try to hurt her if they found out.
When Naruto was now farther away from the village, she came across a road that was diverged into two. She remembered what Granny Miko to take the road on the right, that road leads to the next village where Naruto is going to live.
Naruto stopped at the cross roads, she wasn't sure but something was telling her not to go to that path. She turned at the left and then at the right road, 'If I go right, I'll be Naruto the orphan forever' she thought.
'What difference does it make if you take the other road?' Kyubii asked.
'I don't know, but somehow I feel like someone is telling me to take a different path.' She thought.
What if I take the other road and it will lead to a place where I can find the answers that I've searched for my whole life. Maybe I have family out there waiting for me, maybe I have siblings younger or maybe older? Thoughts came flooding on the girl's mind.
Without hesitation she stepped on the opposite road, 'Are you sure about this, kid?' The biju asked her.
She smiled and looked ahead the road, she looked at the possibilities of what she will find out there.
"Home love family I will never be completed till I find you." She sang as she skips across the road.
'This is going to be a long trip.' Groaned Kyubii
Naruto smiled and kept walking cheerfully as she sings with a gleeful song.
