Past and Nightmares
"Kashi-san, I'm scared." A small girl mumbled.
"Don't be afraid, I'll protect you with my life." A silver haired teenager whispered to the girl in his arms.
"Naru-hime" he whispered again.
Kakashi opened his eyes, he woke up staring at the stars in the heavens and the sounds of the brook. 'A dream' he thought, but it wasn't just a dream. It was something that happened in the past that made him feel guilty. He turned his eyes to his fellow shinobi Gai, the bowl cut haired man was snoring loudly like a bear. He turned to look around and saw Gai's team who were three chunins. They were all peacefully asleep, like little children. They were once children but they're now all grown up, ready to go on solo missions for an entire month.
'If she was still alive, maybe she was the same age as this chunins.' He thought.
Maybe Lee would try to woo her, showing off his taijutsu and green spandex. If Minato would be alive to see her, he would go insane protecting her from men. Kushina was going to be much worse if she sees boys sniffing around her daughter.
He stared at the flickering bonfire at the center, and watch as the particles ascend the heavens as if they are dancing.
He remembers those days when his team would go on missions and camp somewhere in the woods. He remembers his sensei, Rin and Obito, memories after memories kept flashing in his mind. Remembering those days, he couldn't sleep.
He was in his teens when he met his sensei's daughter, he was an ANBU that time and he was assigned as the girl's body guard. When the girl first saw him, she asked if she could touch his hair. The girl called him wolf because of his hair and matching wolf mask.
Kakashi became attached to the young girl, not only because it was his sensei's child. The man felt that it became his purpose to protect her with his life.
He had hoped that someday he'll find the girl and bring her back home. He still has hope that she was still alive.
"Kashi-san" he remembered her soft voice.
He suddenly gets transported back in time; they were on top of the mountain where the hokage monument was. He was sitting with young blonde; they were staring at the sunset. The watch the village and the people on the streets.
"Kashi-san." The girl said.
The silver haired boy turned at the girl.
"What is it, Naru-hime?" he asked
The girl looked at him with troubled eyes, Kakashi went closer to her and patted her head.
"Don't look at me like that, I hate that." He told her as he played with her hair.
"I almost got lost today because I didn't listen to you." She said.
"What's that? You know that I'll always find you, I got ninja hounds that can help me find you." He assured her.
The young girl slowly leaned on his chest, she could feel his body hear and hear his heart beat.
"What if you'll never find me? What if I'll never see you or mom or dad?!" she freaked out.
Kakashi sighed, the girl was terrified because thugs tried to threaten the girl. It was scary for a child to go through that incident.
"Naru-hime, I'll always find you no matter where you go. I'll find you towards the end of the world. Even if I risk my life doing so." He told her.
'I'll always find you no matter where you go.'
'Even if I risk my life doing so.'
Those words kept echoing in his mind, the words he promised to the girl.
"Naru-hime, I'll find you." He muttered as he looked at the starry sky.
The sound of snapping twig had woken up Naruto, she opened her eyes and rolled over. She spent the night in the woods, luckily carried a blanket it was light and usually used during summer time. It was the only blanket she packed because can fit inside her back pack.
She stood up and folded the blanket and opened her bag, she then placed the blanket. She realized that she already ate the bento that Granny Miko made, the bento was originally just her food for lunch.
She still had no clue where she was, and she started to feel hungry. Maybe there's something to eat in this forest, like berries or wild fruits. She decided to scout the area to fin something to eat. She picked up her back pack and started to walk. She kept looking up and down, left and right searching for something edible to swallow.
She saw something, a small bush that had small red berries. She went near to see if this was something edible, she recognized that it was an edible berry. She begun plucking the berries and placing them on her pocket. The berries were the same sizes of a small pebble, she begun munching on the other berries. The others she stuffed it in her pockets to save for later.
'Kid, someone is here.' Kyubii warned her.
The blonde was startled and she dropped some of the berries on her hand.
Who could it be? Shinobi? Thugs? Or wild animal? She thought to herself.
'Don't turn back, Kid. Just run, he's running towards us.' The fox said.
'He?'
'Just run you, brat!' the fox ordered.
Naruto quickly run faster; she didn't want to turn around. She just wanted to escape from whatever was chasing them. She was too sacred to asked Kyubbii, she kept running because she was too scared to get caught.
She turned to the tall bushes and tried to hide there; she tried her best to hide herself. She could hear the sound of the assailant drawing near, suddenly it stopped. She gasped and quickly covered her mouth, trying not to get caught.
'Shit, he's here' Kyubii groaned.
'Who?' she asked him.
A hand reached out and grabbed her hair, she kicked the stranger in the leg. The stranger got knocked down but before Naruto could run, a man was standing on her way. The man had long black hair with a pale complexion, the man was like in his 40's. The one thing that caught her attention was his eyes, they resemble a snake's eyes.
'Ugh, that guy's a creepy.' Kyubbi groaned.
Naruto had to agree with the fox, the man not only looked kind a creepy but he also had this strange aura around him that made her uneasy.
"My Naruto, you had grown up into such a beauty." He whistled at her.
'What the? How did this creep know my name?' she thought to herself.
A pair of hands grabbed her by the shoulder, she turned to see who it was. It was a white-haired man who wore glasses, the man grinned at her which gave her a chill in the spine. The man was much younger than the snake-eyed-man, but he looked older than Naruto.
"Let go!" she yelled at the man as she struggles to break free from his grip.
'Kyu-chan, help me!' she pleaded the fox.
'Are you insane, kid?! We can't reveal ourselves to the, this people can be dangerous.' He snapped at her.
Kyubii was right, she can't risk revealing herself. These men are obviously dangerous, they're after Kyubbi. Kyubbii told her that there was a time that he was used as weapon for war, which is why he always warned Naruto not to reveal herself to anyone she doesn't trust.
"Let go of me, you creep!" she yelled as she kicked and struggled to hit the four eyes.
But the four eyes had such a strong grip on the girl, he kept grinning at her as he watches her struggle to break free.
"Now, Now Naruto a lady should know how to behave well." The snake-eyed-man told her.
"Just shut up you freak!" she screamed at him.
"That's not nice." The four eyes grinned at her.
The four eyes grabbed her by the chin, and gave her a lustful gaze. She was terrified at how he looked at her, it was obvious what the man was thinking.
"My such beautiful eyes." He told her.
She swallowed; the way he spoke to her made her stomach churn. He pressed his face on her neck and sniffed her hair. She wanted to wring his neck, he placed a kiss on her neck which made her wanting to vomit.
"You pervert, I'll kill you!" she snapped at him.
"Kabuto, don't scare our little princess." The snake-eyed-man chuckled.
The four eyes paused and gave his attention to his accomplice.
"Orochimaru-sama, this girl is tempting me to do things." He said as he licked his lips.
'If this buffoon lays a hand on you, I swear I'll eat him alive!' Kyubbi hissed.
Naruto was terrified, she can't do anything without revealing herself. The thought of being defiled by a bunch of creepy men made her shudder.
"Not yet, Kabuto. Not until I get what I want, the thought of experimenting you on my lab. Hehehe. Gives me quite the excitement." He snickered as he looked at her from head to toe.
She couldn't say a word, she was going to be that creep's guinea pig and this pervert will defile her. She kicked and screamed at them; she was desperate to get away from these men.
"Orochimaru!" a man yelled out of nowhere.
A streak of Lighting almost hit Orochimaru from behind, but he immediately dodged the hit and jumped out.
A silvered haired man who wore a black mask, followed Orochimaru and threw a punch on him. Orochimaru still dodged the hits and kicks the silver haired man gave.
Naruto saw her opportunity and bit Kabuto's arm; the man was startled and he let go of his grip. She then made her escape from the group, before Kabuto could chase her a bowl cut haired man wearing a green spandex kicked him in the stomach.
She saw her chance, she didn't turn back and kept running. She didn't know which way to turn, she just kept running.
"Why if it isn't the copy nin of Konoha?" Orochimaru snickered at the masked man.
"Orochimaru, you traitor." The masked ninja hissed at him.
"What's the matter Kakashi? Do you still believe that I was the one who stole your beloved princess?" he taunted.
There was no doubt that Orochimaru is possibly one of the suspects who was responsible of abducting the fourth's daughter. He had devious plans on using jinkuris as his experiment.
He shot a glare at the man, Orochimaru just smiled at him.
"Kakashi, If I had her now Konoha would already be ashes." Orochimaru said.
Kakashi didn't trust a single word of the man, the man is an S class criminal who betrayed his village for his own bizarre ambitions.
"Through the years, all I ever found was a bunch of charlatans. Until recently." He looked at the masked ninja with glistening eyes.
The last sentence caught the masked ninja's attention.
"I found something interesting, Kakashi. You'll not believe me but I just saw a girl who resembled your dear sensei." He added as he grinned at Kakashi.
Kakashi's eyes widened, he had a feeling that the traitor was bluffing just to piss him off.
"Don't try to piss me off, you traitor." He snarled at him.
Before he could launch another attack at the man, a smoke appeared and Orochimaru vanished. Kakashi then used his summoning jutsu to call out his ninja hounds. With a puff his hounds appeared, he instructed the hounds to track down Orochimaru. Gai appeared and told Kakashi that Orochimarus comrade had escaped.
As the two jounin tracked the two criminals, Naruto was still running for her life. Unknown to her three figures were chasing her.
"Neji, how far is she?" Tenten asked.
The Hyugaa activated his byakugan, "She's not far ahead, quick she's slowing down." He said as he deactivated his byakugan.
Naruto was growing tired; she barely ate and she felt her body starting to give in.
'Kyu-chan, can I?' she asked the fox.
Before the fox could lend his chakra, "Stop there!" she heard a voice.
She slowly turned and she saw two boys and a girl. One of the boys had a bowl hair-cut and a thick eye brows, the other boy had a long hair and he had gray eyes who had no pupils. The girl had a twin had a brunet that is styled twin bun.
"What?" she said as she shot glares at them.
"Who are you? and what were you doing with Orochimaru?" the long -haired raven asked.
Orochimaru? She remembered the creepy snake man.
'I wasn't with him, what is with this people?' she thought.
'Careful, kid. We can't trust this people.' The fox warned.
"Are you a spy of that criminal?" the long-haired raven pestered.
"Spy? What are you talking about you?! I don't work with that creep and his pervert lackey!" she exclaimed at him.
"You can't fool us!" the raven yelled at her.
'This people are shinobi's; they might have mistaken you for a spy and they might throw you in jail.' The fox told her.
Naruto felt her sweat drip, Granny Miko warned her that shinobi's can sometime be dangerous.
"Look you got the wrong idea! I just met those bastards!" she screamed at him.
"Naruto?" she heard a voice from behind.
A chill sent down her spine, 'How?' she asked herself.
'No matter what kid, don't reveal yourself' the fox said.
She slowly turned around, a silver-haired ninja wearing a black clothe mask and his other eye was covered. The silver-haired ninja gasped as he looked at her confused blue eyes. Naruto could see that he was in a shock, for a moment she was confused.
Kakashi froze as he looked at the blonde girl, it was as if he saw a ghost. But he wished that this wasn't a dream, he wished that what he was seeing wasn't a ghost.
'Naru-hime' he thought to himself.
His sensei's daughter is standing right in front of him, she's grown beautifully. He wanted to throw his arms at girl, that everyone believed to have died.
'Kid, I warned you.' Kyubi reminded the girl.
"Naruto?! Is that you?!" he shouted with joy.
'Why does he know my name?' she thought.
'Just lie, kid. Don't give them your real name.' the fox said.
Kyubbi was right, she had to lie because she couldn't trust this people. A while ago she almost got raped by a four eyed creep and a weird old man. Maybe something worse could happen to her if she reveals herself.
"I think you got the wrong person." She mumbled.
"What?" the man gasped.
'Name, quick think of a name!" Kyubbi ordered.
'Name? Uh, eh..Naruko?'
'What? Think of something else!'
'What?'
'A flower? Just not something close to your name!'
'Something far from her name? Think! Thin!'
'Hah! That's it!'
"I'm not Naruto, I'm Menma." She said while trying to force a smile on her face.
Kakashi was taken back by her words, maybe she was just pulling a prank on her. He wished she was just pulling a prank, a prank.
"Naru-hime, please stop joking" he stuttered.
"I'm sorry but I think you're mistaken." She told him.
"Naru-hime, you don't remember me?" He pleaded.
Naruto didn't recognize him; this was the first he met him and all of this people. She had to play cool and keep up the act.
"No, I'm sorry but I don't" she said.
Kakashi moved away from her, he felt crumbling. If this wasn't his sensei's daughter, then who's this girl. She resembled Minato from her hair to her eyes, how could he make a mistake. He saw her not just once, how could he be mistaken.
