-General POV-
Luke stood there wearing a White Phoenix Suit.
"Hear me, Avengers and X-Men. No longer am I the man you knew. I am fire and life incarnate now, and forever… I AM PHOENIX" he said, but it wasn't he who spoke, it was her. The Phoenix
Nobody moved an inch, waiting to see what Luke was going to do, worried that they just traded one Dark Phoenix, for another.
That is until Wolverine said his piece "Runt, listen to me… this ain't you talkin'. The Phoenix is messing with your head…"
"Is she? Or am I finally being the real me? Living up to my full potential! Saving the world- no, not the world- the universe from itself." Phoenix Host said
"Better men than you have failed, you have to end this before it's too late." Wolverine warned him
"Maybe they did, but unlike them, I can see where they faltered… I won't be making the same mistakes as them… I will be the White Phoenix… I will bring order to this chaotic Universe…" I said, trying to make myself believe, rather than him
"You know… maybe you will…" Wolverine said finally getting Luke's full attention "Or maybe you will end up just like every other man who said that very same thing and end up oppressing everyone."
"You don't understand Logan… This power… It needs to mean something, I need to mean something!"
"You already do Runt, but not like this… the Phoenix acts to the whim of its host, giving them unlimited power to fulfill its duties until one day the host loses their mind to all that power, and they all end up like the Slim over there… You need to let it go before it's too late."
Luke knew he was right, there was no host of Phoenix that didn't eventually lose their mind …
Luke didn't know what to do, so he did what that felt natural, he grasped the Excalibur, pointed it at the sky, prayed to Kirby, willed the Phoenix to exit my body, and shouted the most famous words of the most famous watcher "Excelsior!"
The Phoenix went ever upward until it dispersed.
When the Phoenix was finally gone, I fell on my ass and said "Yuppie, we saved the world, now what? I feel like Shawarmas, does anyone else feel like Shawarmas?" I asked everyone,
Nobody was amused… Some were mourning for Xavier, while the others were planning for what this event will bring…
-At The Same Time, Westchester County, Church-
Broo was depressed.
His best friend and crush, Idie had been changing ever since Luke went off to fight the Phoenix,
And in today's school dance, she kissed Quentin Quire.
Seeing them like that, Broo took off and went to the Church Idie visits
"Are you a lost soul?" the priest asked the tiny alien
"Yes, I suppose I am," Broo said as he walked in
"Then you have come to the right place." The priest said "Welcome to the Church of the Everlasting Damnation. My name is pastor hail. Would you like to tell me about your sins?"
"This is the place my friend Idie has been visiting?"
"Yes, it is. Your friend has many sins. We speak about them often." the priest said
"And you… offer her counseling?" Broo asked
"There is no counsel for the wicked, only judgment and punishment." the priest revealed
"There's something different about her now. Is that because of you?" Broo asks
"Idie has merely come to accept her nature, as must we all. You look like someone who knows a thing or two about wickedness, or am I mistaken?"
"No- no you are not," Broo said as he ripped the priests head off, only to see it was a robot.
"I imagine you'll tell yourself you somehow knew it was a robot. But we both know that's not true… don't we Broo?" Kade Kilgore said as he walked in.
"I know you… you attacked the school, on the Opening Day. You're…"
"Kade Kilgore, Black King of the Hellfire Club. And yes, that was my robot." Kilgore said
"You… you set this up, this pastor, this whole church, just to manipulate Idie… Why?" Broo asked
"Now I see why you are here, You like her, don't you? Truly a strange Brood… All you need to know is I have great plans for you and your classmates… I'm just kidding, there are no plans for you." Kilgore said as he shot Broo in the head,
-Next Day, X-Mansion-
Luke had walked into the X-Mansion.
His first act was going back to his room and putting up his signed Spider-Man poster.
When he asked where Idie and Broo were, he learned about what happened to Broo.
Luke then directly went to Beast's lab, "What happened to Broo?"
"Broo suffered severe cranial trauma. When he was found, his heart had been stopped for several minutes. First responders were able to resuscitate him, but since then he's shown no brain activity. I'm still working to repair damage to his brain, but Broo physiology is entirely alien to me,"
"Move!" Luke ordered Henry and unsheathed Excalibur, he used its healing aura to repair the damage to Broo's brain, "Is he alright?" Luke asked
Henry checked Broo and from what he could see, Broo's brain was mostly repaired, but there was still no brain activity, "He is better, but still no brain activity."
"This sword healed hundreds of thousands just yesterday, it even saved a man stabbed in the heart, it should have saved Broo," Luke exclaimed,
"Brain is the most complex organ, even in a Brood… and Broo is in a much better condition, you should be proud, this is nothing short of a miracle," Beast said, "I'll take care of him from here,"
"Alright…" He then looked at Idie "Do we have any idea who shot him?"
"No, I don't," Idie said, her eyes were puffy from crying
"Don't worry I'll find them, and make sure they pay." Luke left the laboratory,
He started walking towards the main hall and saw Glob, the bully.
"Glob, do you have a minute?"
"Yes…" Glob said as he was shaking slightly, probably remembering the last time they met,
"Can you tell me what happened yesterday, I heard Broo was in a Church when they found him, why was he there?" he asked
"I- I have no idea,"
"You are lying," Luke said as he increased Glob's personal gravity to 4g. "Tell me everything you know, or else…" he increased gravity to 5g.
*ugh* "Broo… Broo was supposed to dance with Idie, apparently, but she started dancing with Quentin, and after seeing them kiss he left the dance, he probably went to the Church because Idie started going there." Glob said
"Did- did a new student named Quentin join the school?" Luke asked, not even wanting to think about the alternative,
"N-no" Glod said
"So you're telling me, Quentin Quire, the telepath with pink-hair, kissed Idie?" Luke asked, still couldn't believe what he was hearing,
"Ye-yeah"
"I see," Luke returned Glob's gravity back to 1g "You can go, thanks," Glob ran away as fast as he could
-Cerebra Room-
Luke rushed into the Cerebra room, Phoebe Cuckoo, one of the Stephen Cuckoos was there, and as soon as he entered she said "Idie is not under mind control, we checked, eight times."
"Damn! Then why?"
"We don't know, Celeste thinks Idie was trying to punish herself for the sin of being a mutant… We also agreed that if you were to kill Quentin, that favor you owe us will be gone..."
"Or I could take you out to a movie?" Luke suggested, half-jokingly
"You are cute, but not that cute,"
"Owch, Then how about I break Quire's legs, and take you out to a movie?" he said, this time seemed serious
"Hmm… Break his legs and arms, and then I'll maybe think about the movie,"
"Deal,"
-2 Weeks Later, Training Grounds-
During these two weeks many things happened,
Cyclops had escaped and started A Mutant Revolution.
School gained hundreds of new/old students, those who newly awakened their X-Gene and those who reawakened theirs from M-Day.
For some reason, Beast used time travel and brought the Original X-Men back from when they were 16.
But Broo was still in a coma,
Luke had spent every waking moment either trying to heal Broo with Excalibur or trying to find who put him into that state in the first place.
But today, he was doing something for himself.
Luke and Quentin were in training grounds, they were both holding wooden swords.
Quentin was covered in bruises,
"Why are we doing this again?" Quinten asked
"Because Ms. Pryde is too busy with the Original X-Men, so she can't spar and I asked Wolverine to change your detentions to sword practice with me. I'm pretty sure ever since I stabbed Cyclops, I'm his favorite student," Luke said as he blocked Quentin's lousy strike and then hit his 4 limbs within a second, breaking them.
"AAAAGGGGHHHH" Quinten screamed,
"Ah don't be such a baby," Luke said as he went to get Excalibur and his phone. He took a picture of Quentin and then healed him, "See… good as new." Quinten had already passed out from the pain
Luke then sent the picture to Phoebe, and wrote a text 'Now… how about that date?'
'I'll think about it…'
'Oh well, it is a long shot at best… At least that favor is over…' Luke thought to himself as he walked to Beast's lab
Luke then walked up to Broo's hospital bed and started healing Broo with Excalibur's healing aura,
-That Night-
Luke spends the rest of the day bombarding Broo with healing aura,
He only stopped once he saw Idie walking in with a tray of food, "Hey Idie I see you brought dinner,"
"Sorry, this is for Broo," she said
"I see, then I better get going, I'll leave you two alone," Luke said as he left
Idie approached Broo "Hello? It's Idie. Would you like to have dinner with me? I brought all your favorites. Tofu bacon tacos, raw beets, and a strawberry soy shake, and while you eat, I can read the day's homework assignments. You'll love it. Dr. McCoy gave us 18 pages of science worksheets. And maybe later, I can help you practice your accordion or some new yo-yo tricks or… or we never got to have that dance… did we? All you have to do is wake up, Broo. Just open your eyes. I'll be waiting…"
-With Luke, Professor Xavier Memoriam-
Luke looked at the giant Professor X statue
"I still don't know how I come here, or why I was sent here… For the love of Kirby, I don't even know why I am still here,"
"Funny. I've been asking myself that all night." a figure said behind Luke
"Huh?" Luke turned around only to see a red headed girl, wearing the old X-Men costume.
"Think I finally found my answer. I'm staying here until I save the world. Sounds simple enough, right? How about you? I'm Jean Grey. Sorry, I didn't get your name?" Teenage Jean said
"I'm Luke Long… Nice to meet you, Jean. I think I'm staying because a friend of mine is injured, and I'm trying to heal him."
"It's a bit more realisticthan mine," she said
"Yeah, just a bit,"
"Can I ask you a question?" Jean said
"Go ahead,"
"Why can't I read your mind?"
Luke shrugs "My powers gave me immunity against telepaths, no one can take a peek into my mind unless I let him, even then, it would take the strongest telepath hours. Now, can I ask a question of my own?"
"Sure," she said
"Why did Beast bring you here? There are wild theories going all around the mansion, but no one knows why, "
"We are here to stop Older Cyclops from committing Mutant Genocide," she said
"I see… well, I should get going, it was nice meeting you" Luke said while thinking 'There is no mutant genocide, Cyclops might have lost control and killed Charles Xavier, but he would never do something like Mutant Genocide, even under the influence of the Phoenix. So… what is the real reason Beast brought them here?'
"Oh before I go, good luck with saving the world thing," Luke said as he flew to the nearest McDonalds.
-Scene Change: McCoy's Lab, With Idie and Broo-
Idie planted a kiss on the sleeping Brood. "I miss you Broo. This place isn't the same without you. Please, come back… Come back and make it all fun again." Idie said and as she was Broo finally woke up,
"RrRrrR…?" Broo tried to say
Idie turned around and saw him waking up "Broo?"
"Id-Idie, is that you?"
"BROO!" She jumped at him and hugged him, genuinely smiling for the first time since awakening her X-Gene.
-Next Morning, General POV-
"Broo, tell me one more time, who did this to you?" Luke said
"It was Kade Kilgrave of the Hellfire Club, he had a robot priest placed there to manipulate Idie"
"Thank you Broo, you just continue to rest, I'll make sure he will never be able to do something like this ever again."
"Thank you, Friend Luke, and thank you very much for spending your precious time healing me with your magnificent sword," Broo told him
Luke turned to Idie, "Let's go Idie, Mr. Logan's class is about to start." Seeing that she didn't want to come Luke said "You can bring Broo homework if you come to the class"
"I'll come right after the class, with all the homework you can ever want,"
"Thank you Idie," Broo said
-20 Minutes Later, Wolverine's Class-
While on his way to the class, Luke lifted a pebble in New York City with his gravity powers and then his eyes started glowing for a second. Ever since his interaction with the Phoenix, his powers range was enhanced, allowing him to find the location of a specific person in New York City. He then threw the pebbles at the psychotic child king of the Hellfire Club, killing him with ease.
For better or worse, Luke didn't feel anything while killing the asshole who hurt his friend. Only making him ask himself 'Why didn't anyone kill these pricks before? They don't have any powers, and created so many problems for X-Men. Shouldn't Cyclops or Wolverine send the X-Force after them,'
He then went focused back to the class as if nothing happened.
In the class, Wolverine was trying to teach about combat strategies, "Why don't you kids understand? If a ninja master confronts you head-on, that means that other ninjas are going to attack you from the sides and from the behind. A ninja master never confronts you unless he himself is the- *sniff*sniff* that son of a -" and Wolverine run out of the classroom,
When Luke and other students looked out of the window they saw Cyclops, Emma Frost, Magneto, and Magik appearing out of Magik's portal "To me, my X-Men." Cyclops said
