Bloople and Clover made their way into the house they shared. They had hired a babysitter so they could have a date night. Bloople had planned the entire night out perfectly. The pair went and watched the new action movie that Clover had wanted to see "The Tooninator." about a cog who was sent back in time to destroy an extra silly Toon but learns to love and protect them from a more advanced cog. Afterwards they had gone to Clover's favorite restaurant, before stopping to get ice cream and sat on the dock in Donald's Dock. It was truly a perfect night. The entire time though, Bloople could not get this small little nagging part of his brain to shut up. The part that told him that he was going to ruin everything. Clover didn't seem to notice, or didn't say anything as she was having too much fun. "Gosh Bloople. I can't remember the last time we had a night to ourselves like this!" the tall green cat purred as the two exhausted toons slumped down into the chair. "I mean, I guess we did just go to Silly World last week. Hmm, are you buttering me up for something?"
Nervously tugging his collar, Bloople tried to change the conversation. "Hey, do you remember in the movie where that Mr. Hollywood lowered himself into the lava room and died? That was pretty sad!"
"Oh my cog, it was!" Clover clasped her hands to her face and frowned. "That almost made me cry. Action stories aren't supposed to make me cry! That's why I watch them!"
"Yeah. Although when they were in that roadster and they were tossing pies back and forth with the Two-Faces on motorcycles. That was pretty cool!" Bloople rubbed his arm nervously. Both Toons seemed reluctant to break the ice. "So um, Clover. I don't know if I've ever had the chance to tell you.. But I'm really glad that you came over for dinner that night. I mean, I'm sure you probably knew but I had a pretty big crush on you since we were in school." chuckling to himself. "I was such a weirdo though."
Clover beamed the biggest smile he had ever seen. "Oh my cog, that is the sweetest and most adorable thing I've ever heard, Bloop!" leaning over she gave her boyfriend a quick kiss. "You know... I always thought you were cute too.. I was really disappointed when you didn't ask me to Toonfest in Junior year, you know!"
"Wait, really? I was so awkward though. Not to mention, I had acne and I was just kind of ugly.." Bloople recollected his horrible high school days.
"What? Oh my gosh, you were so cute. I loved how sweet and funny you were. Well I mean you're sweet and funny now, but you know. You were just different than the other guys. But I guess fate has a way of working itself out right.." Clover was now blushing and rubbing her neck, facing away from Bloople. Neither aware that both of them had the same thing on their mind, afraid of how the other would react.
Quickly grabbing for the remote, Bloople switched on the TV. "Uhh- hey I think it's your night to choose. What did you want to watch?"
Smoothly responding, Clover grabbed the remote and turned off the TV. "Well, I think the girls will still be gone for a few hours.. I was thinking maybe we could just be alone?" she winked, which caused Bloople to laugh nervously. "You know.. I actually have a surprise for you." leaning over she whispered in the lime green dog's ear, which caused them to shoot straight up in the air. Clover giggled at the dog's reaction. "That's for later though, of course."
"Clover.." Bloople began to speak, but was interrupted by a kiss from his beautiful girlfriend. The magical moment seemed to last an eternity, as the pair of faces connected, and Bloople's hands ran through her fur. Pulling away, he smiled and Clover spoke.
"Bloople... I.. I love you, Bloople." Clover's heart churned like the gears of a cog as she couldn't believe she had actually said it. She had wanted to say it earlier, but she thought it might make things awkward, but the moment felt right. Closing her eyes, she braced herself for something she didn't want to hear.
Bloople's mouth went dry and his stomach gymnastics were causing him to jumble over his words. Did she just say it? It was something he had been worried about, and she said it. Now she was looking at him expectantly. "Clover. I love you.." he responded, smiling like a fool.
"How about we go get that surprise started early.." Clover breathlessly whispered, pulling her partner from the couch, the pair wandered off to cap off the end of a magical evening.
Raindrop finished packing his picnic basket trying his best to ignore teasing from his parents. "Aww honey, you look SO cute in that shirt!" Raindrop's mother stood over him, trying her best to brush his fur and licking her thumb to wipe a spot off his cheek.
"Mom! Come on, I'm not a little kid anymore. Can't you just let me finish getting ready!" Raindrop crossed his arms frustrated at his parent's interference.
"Aw, come on Rain. Your mom is just excited. I mean first date? That is a big deal! Although you haven't told us anything about her? Will we get a chance to meet her? Are you worried your old parents are going to embarrass you?" Raindrop's dad stuck out his tongue and watched his son wince.
Raindrop slammed the basket closed and turned around. "Guys you're already embarrassing me! I told you, her name is Pippy and we go to school together! She's funny and sweet and beautiful, okay? Can I go now, please?"
The older magenta dog smiled and nodded. "Alright sweetheart. But just don't stay out too late, okay? You still have school tomorrow. Also can I tell you how adorable it is you're going on a picnic? You're going to give your old mom an early death from cute overload!"
"Okay guys I'm going!" Raindrop quickly wheeled his way out of the front as his parents held hands and smiled. He had told Pippy that he would meet her in the park on Baritone Boulevard. There was a large tree that Raindrop liked to sit underneath and read when it was warm. He had spent many hours there daydreaming about bringing Pippy there for a picnic and now it was happening. Several times he had to pinch himself to remind him he wasn't dreaming, nor did he die and go to heaven. With some help from his parents, he had made a nice array of goodies for the pair to share. Cookies, muffins, cupcakes, fruit, and whatever else he felt she might like. Turning into the tunnel for Baritone Boulevard he replayed his kiss with Pippy in his head.
It was a beautiful, sunny July day in Minnie's Melodyland. A perfect day for a picnic, Pippy agreed with herself. With Mandy's help, she had picked out the perfect dress. It was a flowy, flowery white dress that really accentuated her figure. Her mom had squeaked in horror at it, but eventually came around. Eventually. Singing to herself as she turned down into Baritone Boulevard, she stopped to pick up a flower. A small pink tulip that was growing unbeside any other flowers. It almost seemed like a message. Her stomach was full to the brim with butterflies. She still couldn't believe Raindrop had asked her out. It was like a dream come true. She had to pinch herself to remind herself that it was real. She just hoped she wouldn't embarrass herself.
Rolling up a small dirt path, Raindrop made his way to the top of a small hill with a singular tree planed on top. The gargantuan Oak had given plenty of cooling shade, while leaving just enough light to capture all of Pippy's wonderful features. Stopping he pulled out a large blanket and placed it down. Putting the basket on the ground, he pulled himself out of his chair, plopping down next to the basket. Now all he had to do was wait. A few minutes passed uneventfully, as he looked around the grass. Suddenly, his eye was caught by an outlying pink among a sea of green. Rolling a few feet over, he laid straight out and furrowed his brow at the sight. In front of him was a sole, pink flower. He didn't really know what any flowers were called, but he did know that flowers never grew up here. Plucking it from it's resting spot, he held it to his nose and smelled. It was delightful. "I bet she will like this." he whispered to himself as he made his way back to his lunch spot.
"Raindrop!" Pippy yelled out as he became visible over the hill. She jogged the remaining distance between the two and fell to her knees in front of him panting. "Gosh, I didn't realize how steep that hill was. You must be in great shape to get up here so easily!" the cream mouse giggled and blushed.
"Pippy.. I'm glad you made it." Raindrop was stunned at how beautiful his date looked. "Wow, that dress, I mean you.. wow."
Giggling Pippy noticed the flower that Raindrop was holding. "Wow, is that a pink tulip! How did you know my favorite flower?" her eyes widened, as she was sure she had not told him.
"Oh, um, actually.." the blue dog thought for a moment. "Well it just seemed like a perfect fit. It's beautiful.. you're beautiful. I thought you might like it." sliding the stem into Pippy's fur, the two giggled nervously, ready for an exciting afternoon.
"Chase Hucklefink. Your release has been approved." a purple crocodile stamped down onto a paper and sighed. "From now on, you're a free Toon. Goodbye."
Rubbing his hands together, the dark green cat bowed and thanked the crocodile. Walking into another room he was handed his possessions he had come in with and for the first time in four years, he stepped out into the bright Toontown sun. He had forgotten what it looked like.. the lush green grass.. smiling Toons. He despised it all! However now he could finally get back to business. As a pretty important member in the In-Sell community, he would surely be busy once he made it back to work. Which he did intend to do, after he took care of a few things. Pulling out a letter he had received, he read the directions over one more time. "Dear Chase. I'm very sorry to hear about the death of Ninja. What a truly special friend he was. You know, all of this time has really made me think. We used to be so close. Why did things have to be this way? Anyways, I heard that you will be released at the end of this month. I would like to formally apologize face to face for all of the pain we have been put through. I'm hoping that we can finally put aside our differences and go back to the way things are. I'm still at the old place. Stop by anytime, old friend. Yours truly. Stupid Stupid Stupid Rabbit."
Tearing up the letter, Chase dusted his hands and laughed. Did this rabbit think he was an idiot. That he would just run back and make nice with him? I guess all it took was the death of his brother to make the rabbit soft. However, this would work perfectly. After all, he still had unfinished business with the crime boss. Due to Stupid Rabbit's stature, sending a personal assassin likely wouldn't do the job or offer the same satisfaction as watching that pathetic Toon beg for his life. Pulling out his teleportation hole, he set his coordinates for Minnie's Melodyland. "Stupid Rabbit. I hope you're ready to join your brother."
