Disclaimer: I don't own this show, big fucking surprise there.

Welcome to my rewrite of A new beginning... or not. See here is the thing, you can't call it a rewrite anymore, like, at all. The only real thing staying the same is the idea of time loops. I mean, initially, I wanted to make the first chapter quite familiar with fairly huge differences at the end but those ideas ended kind of nowhere. Instead, I came up with another idea instead which makes it be completely and utterly different though. So yeah, not much of a rewrite anymore. The first chapter will be also quite short and serves more as a quick explanation of how the loop started.

The land was burned, for miles, no life could be found, almost no life that is. In the midst of the corpses of both friends, loved ones, allies, and enemies alike, kneeled a young man. As far as he knew, he was the only one still alive but the blood that covered his whole Stomach told him that this would not be the case much longer either. Soon this would be a place where no life existed, no mortal life that is. In front of him, Jaune saw the two beings that he would have never dreamt of ever actually seeing, the brother gods.

Seeing them float in front of him in all their glory made Jaune feel insignificant as if he was a mear insect. But more than that it made him feel anger.

''ARE YOU HAPPY NOW? THIS STUPID WAR YOU DOOMED US TOO IS OVER, YOU HAD YOUR FUN DIDN'T YOU, SO WHY DON'T YOU JUST FUCK OFF AGAIN?''

It was the brother of light that spoke first.

''Careful with your tongue mortal, we owe your kind nothing and will do as we see fit. This situation is your kinds own doing not ours, be grateful that we have seen it fit to end the existence of the one named Salem.''

But Jaune just let out a bitter laugh. ''Oh yes, I am just bursting into joy, everyone I ever knew and loved is dead but hey at least everyone else on the other side is dead as well, really fantastic. Ever thought about stepping in to take care of the fucking mess you left behind before it ended us all?''

This time the brother of Darkness was the one that answered Jaune.

''Don't be so dramatic mortal, there are others still alive. In time this world will be repopulated. Your anger is but a personal one in which you try to pin the blame on me and my brother. But we are not without mercy so I will no give you the chance to apologize and go your way to live out the rest of your life. The other mortals will hail you as a hero and look to you for guidance. Go out and put humanity back together and teach them of our grace, who knows, if you do your job we might even choose to reward you.''

Slowly Jaune raised himself up and stood straight looking at the gods for a few seconds before giving them a bow. ''I, Jaune Arc, apologize to the esteemed gods... for not doing this earlier.'' and with those words, he straightened himself again and spit on the ground right in front of the gods. He did not have to wait long for their reaction.

''YOU DARE MORTAL?! I WILL SMITE YOU WHERE YOU STAND!''

But Jaune just let out a chuckle and gave the god of Light the finger. Waiting for his end he took one last look around at the corpses surrounding him and closed his eyes, he had failed, he did not manage to protect a single on and now he would not even be able to protect the last survivors on Remnant because he had chosen to insult the gods. But all things considered, he did not regret doing so, he refused to bow to their will, and if the price for that was to be his life so be it. But the expected death did not happen. Confused Jaune took a look at the gods only to see the brother of Darkness hold a hand in front of his brother.

''Wait, brother, I have a better idea.''

he turned his head and looked straight at Jaune.

''You dare to judge us mortal, beings far behind your comprehension. You are arrogant enough to try and put your puny mortal values on us. So be it, I will show you an existence beyond that of a mortal. Let us how long it will take before you betray those precious values of yours shall we?''

But Jaune just stared back in defiance. ''I don't care what you do, I will never betray my ideals.'' But the god just broke out in mocking laughter.

''The narrow mindedness of mortal beings is always impressive to see. You won't betray your ideals you say? Well, I say it will only take a few cycles until you will.''

Jaune could feel the last bits of his life leaving his body but he still took notice of what the god had said. ''What do you mean, cycles?'' But all he got as an answer was a single mocking sentence, this time spoken by the god of light.

''You will see soon enough Mortal.'' And with those words, he gave a nod to his brother who simply snapped with his finger and Jaune Arc died on the spot.

''J..ne''

''Ja..e''

''Jau.e''

''Jaune.''

Finally, he opened his eyes to stare straight at... Nora's eyes? ''Finally you are up slowpoke, we have been trying to wake you up for minutes?''

Still confused Jaune shook his head a bit trying to get rid of the sleepiness. ''We?''

''Yeah duh, me, Ren and Pyrrha, they already went on ahead to secure us enough food. Are you okay Jaune?''

What was going on, was this a trick of the gods, where they playing with his senses? He realized that Nora was still staring at him in expectation. ''Um, no, sorry Nora I am not, can you just go ahead alone? I am not feeling good right now, just need to sleep a bit more okay?''

Nora gave him a suspicious look for a few seconds before moving to leave the room but not before turning around one more time.

''You better not be lying to me Jaune, otherwise, I'll have to break your legs.''

Scratching the back of his head with a nervous chuckle he watched her leave before closing his eyes again trying to collect his thoughts. He had no fucking clue what was going on but as ridiculous as it sounded it looked like he was back in time. But this made no sense, why would the gods give him another chance, what if this really was just a trick to make him think he had another chance only to torture him for his defiance?

Quickly he came to a decision, he could not risk it, if this was truly another chance to save his friends he would stop at nothing to do so no matter, no matter how much he would have to suffer for it. Maybe it was a test of the gods if he could live up to his claim. He would show them, he would stay true to his ideals and save them all, he wouldn't allow any of his friends to die this time, that was an Arc promise.

Ah yes, isn't it nice to see such optimism? People that read my other stories will know how much I like to make stuff overly happy and idealistic, so you can be assured that the story will keep such an optimistic tone... pfff. Anyway, this is it for the introduction to this time loop, what do you guys think, is it a good way to start? All reviews are appreciated, the critical ones as well, just try to make the critic contain tips on how to improve my writing, please.

Well, that's it for today, next chapter will be whenever.
