Song for the Chapter - Wonderless~ Price The Veil
Play Date Pt. 2
~Raph's POV~
We were getting to the lair really slowly. I mean, usually it would only take up like 15 minutes for us to get from April's house to the lair, but with Lilly... Jesus it's like she's doing it to be funny.
First, she complained that she absolutely would not jump from building to building. I mean it's not like she's gonna fall. We're here. Then when Mikey offered to carry her, she said that she didn't let anyone carry her ever. When we asked why, she shrugged her shoulders but I knew why. She was one of those girls who thought she was so fat and only says that to get attention. I thought we get enough of that "fat" business with April. Is every girl like that? I was just about ready to knock her out and carry her myself. I mean...just a quick pressure point, nothing painful.
Mikey finally somehow convinced her to get on his shell and hold on for dear life. He promised he wasn't going to drop her, because apparently he doesn't do that to best friends. He never did that with anybody, but whatever.
When we came to the manhole we usually go down in, she had to tie her hair up because she didn't want the stink to stay in it. She placed it in a bun, put her hood on then she went down.
I lost count of how many times I rolled my eyes. She's really annoying.
We finally got home and for some reason, I was really anticipating her reaction to the place. Her eyes were wide with awe, her mouth dropped all the way to her feet.
"You guys have a better place than I do. Wow..." she breathed. "This is a nice place you guys."
I walked over to the couch, "Nothing new."
"It is to me." She huffed.
I turned to glare at her but Mikey got to her first.
He grabbed her hand, "Come meet sensei." He said before pulling her towards the dojo.
I sighed, "Should we prepare the couch or something? She might faint..."
Donnie shrugged, "We'll see."
I shrugged and threw myself on the couch. "Well, if she does tell her to do it somewhere else because I'm not moving."
Donnie slapped my head, "Dude, we all get that you hate her, but be mature and act nice. You don't have to be her friend but the least you can do is be nice."
I grunted, "I don't hate her. She's just really annoying."
"So are you and look, we're nice to you. Sometimes."
"Ha ha. The feeling is mutual." I said annoyed.
Donnie began to head towards the lab. "Look Raph, April wants us to get along with her. And she seems pretty cool. The least you could do, is smile once and a while."
I gave him a smile at said "Fuck off" and added a thumbs up.
"See you can do it. Jerk." He said before walking into the lab.
"Love you too bro."
~Lilly's POV~
Mikey led me into a room with a tree in it. A fucking tree. What type of witchcraft is this? How did they get a tree- I mean it was nice. Really nice. Better then the piece of crap I had back at my place. For a sewer.
"This is where the magic happens?" Mikey said with a cute little smirk on his face. "This is where I kick all my brothers' butts."
"Even Ralph?"
Mikey smiled, "You mean Raph?"
I blushed, "Oh man...I said it with confidence too." I chuckled nervously. I fucking hate my memory.
"It's alright." He waved my embarrassment away. "I'm just happy you're finally meeting sensei! You're gonna love him. You know, he was a human before he got turned into a-"
"Turned? You weren't born like this?" I asked, snooping around the place.
"No. We were all mutated. Master Splinter was a human but me and my brothers were all turtles before- he'll tell you the story."
I nodded, walking over to this shelf. I saw this black and white picture of a man, a woman, and a cute little baby. "Is this Master Splinter?"
"Yeah, and his wife and baby. There...gone now." Mikey said slowly, almost as if he was not supposed to say it.
"Oh...Jesus... God I'm-" I turned and saw a giant man with a snout and fur and ears, and whiskers...a giant rat like creature came out of some closet thing. "Holy...shit..." I whispered.
"You must be Lillian. I have heard much about you." Who I'm guessing is Master Splinter said softly. I could tell he was going easy so that I wouldn't...pass the fuck out.
"I am her- I mean me. I mean that's...who I am..." The fuck is wrong with me? Just a simple yes would have sufficed.
"I have been anticipating you. We have much to talk about."
"We do? About what?" I said slowly backing up into the shelf. My clumsiness made the picture I was looking at, topple over. I quickly turned and picked it up. "Shit...shit shit." I turned and picked it up, only to see a small but noticable, crack going down the middle of the frame. I covered my face, feeling like a complete dick head. "Oh...Jesus Christ." I let out a sigh of comeplete anguish. I turned with the photo in my hand and as soon as Master Splinter saw my face he sighed.
"I am...so sorry I just- I bumped into the the...thing and it- I'll buy you a new on I promise. I just- I'm so sorry." I rambled.
He walked up to me, gently taking the picture out of my hands. "No need to fret. It wouldn't be the first time it would end up like this." He placed it back on the shelf.
"I just...know how much meaning just one picture has." I did, those two pictures beside my bed, they're what keeps me sane.
"Do you?" He smiled. "You are a very...wholehearted young woman."
"Told you you'd like her Sensei."
Master Splinter chuckled, "Come, we have some rules to go over." He began to walk his way outside or this little room.
"Mikey...not that I'm scared or anything, but..." I grabbed his hand. "Don't leave me. I get nervous when I'm around people I don't know."
"Sure thing Lil." He held out his arm and I took it.
"He seems very nice though, I can tell you that much. Very, very nice." I told him. First impressions are important to me, and so far...I like their...Sensei. He seems very kind. He seems to have lots of wisdom. I can feel myself already starting to warm up to him little by little.
Mikey walked me to him, stopping by some like pool thing. Which left me speechless because I have never even had a kiddy pools and these dudes- never mind. It just kind of pissed me of that their home is so much better then my piece of shit. God...
"Since you know of our existence," Master Splinter started. "I suppose you know that no one, absolutely no one should know about us. I feel as though people are not ready for us to be amongst them. Perhaps they may never be ready."
I nodded, "Who would believe me anyways...?"
"Also, by knowing us or befriending us you must know the consequences. It would be unfair if we did not tell you that we come with a price."
My eyes narrowed, "Um...price?" Here is what my stupid mind thought. One, one of these days I was going to get caught by the government because of these guys and be tortured or something so that I could reveal their identities to everyone in the world. Or two, they have like a cult thing going on. Those were the options- as stupid as the were.
"We have enemies. Some old and some new. But what I will not deny is that we seem to be getting more and more of them. I'm sure your life will be put in danger, but now that you are with us, you are a part of us, which means-"
"Whoa whoa whoa...wait. Sorry, but I thought me and April were the only people who knew about you guys." I interrupted.
"The only people who know, and accept us, yes. But our relationship with our enemies goes much deeper than that."
"So there is a chance of me getting seriously hurt or-in dramatic terms-dying, just because I know you?" I asked.
"More or less. We would understand if you do not like these consequences." Something in his eyes made me think twice about meeting these guys. They're nice and all, but dying for them? For people I don't even know? Or getting and arm or leg cut off for them? I mean, normally I don't care about my life but...still. Yet, that glimmer in his eyes made me feel like, I don't know, they were strong enough to keep me and April safe. They seemed strong. Mentally, physically...
I nodded, "Okay...well I guess that means my life might not be as boring as it usually is then."
He smiled, "I'm sure you want my to hear about how we came to be."
"Yeah, I heard you were a human, but Mikey said he wasn't... So I'm kind of confused."
"You may want to have a seat then." He said, his hand motioned to the couch.
"Yeah, it's a long story." Mikey chuckled.
~Raph's POV~
Lilly seemed to be taking everything pretty well. Better than April probably. I mean with all the information that we were giving her, I wouldn't have blamed her if she just got up and left.
Leo came out of no where, surprised that Lilly was here and also a little mad. But I think Donnie told him to shut it so that Lilly would feel welcomed not attacked. Other than the fact that more people found out about us, I think Leo was just as happy as Mikey was to finally have more friends or some cliche thing like that. And to be honest, me too I guess.
Lilly was so understanding for some reason. It made me think twice about her. I mean, she still was annoying sometimes but, whenever we would complain about being who we are she would always shake her head and sigh, saying that we never chose to be this way and that no one is a freak to her, not even Hitler. She said that freak was a word that she hated, absolutely hated. When we asked why she just shrugged and said she just did.
I felt as though she did understand, maybe not the exact way but a little. She was...easy to talk to I guess.
"Wow, that's one neck of a story you have there guys. Way cooler than mine." She chuckled.
Master Splinter smiled, "Stories are only special...or er...cool, if there is enough heart in it."
"How about your story Lilly? Anything we don't know that you'd want to share with us. I feel like we've been talking about ourselves for hours." Leo snickered softly.
I don't know if anyone saw, but she just stopped. I saw her mind stop, her muscles stop, her breathing stop, her eyes were blank and she quickly looked away. She did have a story, but I felt as though she wasn't ready to tell it. "Uh...n-no you guys know everything about me. Pretty much." She smiled at us, it was completely fake but not the bad kind. More like she was saying "I'm fine. Don't worry," kind of smile.
I huffed, she still wasn't comfortable with us. She still didn't trust us...
Again, I don't blame her.
"Lilly?" We heard a voice say from the entrance.
April came running towards all of us, a big smile on her face. "You're here?"
Lilly stood, "Yeah, so are you. And a little late to miss."
April chuckled, "I did my homework before coming here. I stopped by your place but your mom said you ran away."
All eyes were on Lilly, watching her roll her eyes. "She's been wanting me to run away for sometimes now. Literally every time I'm late she's like 'Oh, I thought you ran away.' It's kind of annoying."
April sat right next to me, throwing her body onto the couch. "So what are we talking about?"
"Us... All of us." Lilly answered with a smile.
April looked around, "Where's Donnie?"
"In the lab." I said. "I think he's building Lil a new T-phone."
Lilly snapped her attention towards me. "What's that?"
"A cell phone." I said.
"A way to keep in touch. Just in case." Leonardo added.
Lilly nodded, "Right... I never had a phone before."
"Really? A 16 year old never had a phone?" I asked, kind of in shock. I mean April had one. I thought all the cool kid have iPhones and shit.
"Well, my mom always said we have no money to buy another line or plan or whatever. But in all honesty, I think she was lazy because her and her boyfriend have one." She said with a pout.
"Well this way you'll be able to call us for anything." Mikey grinned.
"Yeah, and if you call other people, they won't be able to track you down." April said.
"Cool, but what are the odds of people wanting to track me down."
"Well, it's just a precaution." Leo said.
Lilly nodded before standing up. "Well, I don't know about you guys but, I'm kind of hungry."
Mikey shot up from where he was sitting, "I'll make you something!"
"You know how to cook?" She asked, with a shocked like expression.
"Yeah, stay right here." Mikey said before speeding off into the kitchen. I swear there was a smoke trail following after him.
Lilly sat back down, "So April, how was Bostwick?"
April rolled her eyes, "Holy cow, was he annoying! He kept the class two minutes late because everyone was talking. I want to kill everyone."
Lilly sighed, "How about the rest of the school day?"
She shrugged, "Pretty good. You're friend was looking for you though. Uh...Giselle? Said she wanted you to meet a couple of people."
"Huh...okay." She turned when she noticed Master Splinter walking towards the dojo. "A-Are you leaving Splinter?" She said, her voice hesitated.
Master Splinter turned, "Don't worry, I'm almost sure that we will meet again." he chuckled before turning and continuing his way.
"I'll buy you a new frame. I promise!" She called.
"Did that thing break again?" Donnie asked, coming out of his lab. "I swear, I'm always fixing that thing." He walked over to Lilly. "Sorry that I wasn't able to talk like everyone else. If I did I wouldn't have been able to build you this." He handed her the T-phone.
She smiled, "Oh my God! This is so cute! Look it's in the shape of a shell. This is...thanks dude. You really shouldn't have."
Donnie waved his hand, "It's nothing. All you have to do is pull some wires, tighten some screws and you have a T-phone."
"Yeah for me you'd just have a bunch of wires and screws." Lilly scoffed.
I chuckled quietly.
"T-phone huh?" I guess she turned on the phone, because she gasped in amazement. "Dude, you're a freaking genius."
"Well I wouldn't go that far." Donnie said modestly. He sat next to her. "It's just like a regular phone, except some minor adjustments. You can call anyone of your friends, they can't call or text you, because then that'd mean they'd have your number, you don't necessarily have a number."
"Oh...okay. You're really smart." Lilly snorted.
"Now, if you want them to call or text you, you're going to have to bring me their phone so that I could put a small microchip in their phone, or tweek a few things depending on the phone. It's what we did to April's phone before she got this." Donnie explained.
Lilly nodded, "Well, okay... I'll make a note of that."
"So now, you don't need April to tell us when you want to see us. You could just text us." Leo informed.
"I'm still willing to do that Lil." April said quickly. Lilly nodded in what almost looked like relief.
I don't know of I should be annoyed that Lilly still doesn't, technically, want to contact us like she does with April. Or if I should feel bad because she's still super shy and usually when people are that shy, its for a reason and not always a good one.
I feel as though all we can do is give her her space until she's gotten used to us.
I mean it's the least we can do right.
