Song used in this chapter - I Care ~ Beyoncé
Caught Pt. I
~Lilly's POV~
"That's it!" April yelped right after I finished singing. "That's the song your should use."
"Dude, you've been saying that after every song I sing. There's no way in hell that I'm getting on that stage and singing Whitney Huston." I chuckled handing Donnie the microphone. I've been singing for at least an hour. I've been 'practicing' for at least a week, the more I practice the harder the songs April picks me to sing. How the hell am I supposed to sing Whitney? No one can do Whitney! Only Whitney can do Whitney. Rest In Peace.
"You just do every song so well, I can't decide!" She squealed, grabbing my arm and squeezing it close to her body. "I have the biggest crush on you right now."
I laughed, patting her head softly, "I already picked a song."
"What?!"
"Yeah..."
"What is it?"
"I'm not telling you."
"Is it Beyoncé?" Raphael asked.
No. "Maybe..." it wasn't. How the hell am I gonna disrespect Beyoncé by singing one of her songs? If I can't do Whitney I'm definitely not going to doing Queen Bey.
One thing I didn't want to do was pick a song with the word 'love' in it. Why? Because then the whole song would be like 'oh she's talking about this guy, or this guy, or this guy.' If it was anyone's business, I don't think about anyone when I sing those types of songs. Not even Raph.
"Please, tell me..." April whined.
"No. You'll find out soon enough. Don't worry." She huffed stubbornly in response. "You're such a little kid." I scoffed.
"Fine. Don't tell me." She mumbled, scooting away from me.
I chuckled, shaking my head at her behavior. "Last thing I want to sing is a song with the word 'love' in it."
"Why not?" Leo asked.
"Because, then people are going to say I'm singing to David and when I sing the only people I think about, no matter the song, is my dad and Ian because they gave me my voice." I said with a shrug.
"Why does it matter?" Raphael asked, his voice a little gruff.
"Why does what matter?"
"What people think. Why does it matter if they think you're singing about what's-his-name? You know what you're singing about, who you're thinking about, so..." Every time I mention David Raph gets uncomfortable. Perfectly good reason too. I knew Raph was the jealous type, it was cute sometimes. When I couldn't fight back, it wasn't.
"True. It's just..." I always say I don't care about what people do to me, and by people I mean Lindsay and her minions. But I say something that sounds like the opposite. I don't care, but that doesn't mean I don't prefer everyone to leave me the fuck alone. Meaning, I want to prevent any annoyance basically. "I'm still not going to sing about those kinds of things."
April sighed, "I think you'd be amazing singing a song about...someone." She said slowly, her eyes slowly looking towards Raph.
I shook my head, "No." I growled. "I'll punch you."
She stuck her tongue out.
I refuse to sing about anyone. Why? I don't know. I just don't want to.
"I think you're gonna win." Mikey said cheerfully. "Song doesn't matter."
"Thank you Mikey."
"Yeah, with a voice like yours, the only way you won't win is if the thing is rigged." Donnie added.
"It just might be." April sighed.
"Why?" I asked her.
"Rumor has it, one of the judges is going to be the PTA leader and his mistress."
"The principal and his...? Why is she judging?"
"It's just a rumor. But he is one of the judges though." She shook her head. "Anyways, so apparently, guess who's sleeping with the principal."
"Uh..." I shook my head cluelessly.
"Lindsay's mother."
I stood up, "Are you fucking kidding me? You're kidding me. No."
"Yes. So she's one of the judges. Which is why I want you to sing one of these songs that are mostly vocals not words. Just to really wow everyone." She explained.
Lindsay's mother? She's just as, if not more, irrelevant than Lindsay herself. Jesus Christ, and she's sleeping with the principal. No wonder Lindsay never gets in trouble for being herself. "Fuck..." I cursed under my breath. "You know what? No, I don't care about winning. My song may not be totally about vocals but I bet I can make those bitches cry."
April groaned, "Tell me what it is!"
"No, but it's not a happy song. You'll see..."
From behind I hear, "Hey guys," which to me was my cue to leave the room. I excused myself and headed towards the kitchen. I know I'm being petty, and childish, rude... Raph has told me over and over again to just try... I don't want to.
I sighed, I'm so petty...
Raph walked into the kitchen after a while, giving me that 'What did I say' look. "Lilly, what did I say about trying to get to know him?" He said crossing his arms over his chest.
I shrugged, "What? I'm just getting a coke."
"We don't have coke."
"So I'm going to get something to drink. Leave me alone." I murmured under my breath as I dug through the fridge, sighing when they literally had nothing but pizza...and eggs. "Do you guys have ice cream?" I asked, opening the fridge. As I opened it, I was handed a popsicle from inside the freezer. "Thanks." I said cluelessly, shutting the small door. As I was about to open the popsicle, I stopped when the realization suddenly hit me. "Wait..." I turned to open the door and gasped when I saw a fucking cat made out of ice cream. "What the hell is this thing?"
The cat meowed.
"That's ice cream kitty." Raph chuckled. "Another mutant. She was a cat but then Mikey..." he shook his head, rubbing his temples.
I was licked on the nose by the cat to which I scoffed. I don't like cats. "I don't like cats."
"Really?" Raph asked.
I shut the door, "Yeah, and you don't tell me shit anymore."
"What?"
"A mutated cat? You'd think I'd get a text that says like 'babe, we got a new pet' or 'babe, stuff happened today' or something like that." I opened the little bag the popsicle was in and began to eat it.
"Well, sorry... A lot of things have been happening lately and I guess I've just been busy." He explained with a shrug.
"No it's okay." I said with a small smile, he's cute sometimes. "Just saying, I feel like I don't know a lot of things."
"Yeah, but most of the times, it's for your own good." He explained, reaching out to grab my shirt so he could pull me towards him. I playfully touched his mouth with my popsicle before leaning in to kiss him for the first time that day.
I felt my cheeks warm just slightly, "My own good, huh?"
Suddenly, both of us blinked at the sound of April and Casey arguing back in the living room. Before Raph said anything, I walked out of the kitchen to see if April needed help- I'll fight against Casey any day. Raphael was right at my heels, probably just as curious as to what was going on. I saw April standing and yelling at Casey who was sitting with a smug smile on his face.
"What's going on?" I asked, looking at expressions on everyone's face.
"Casey said you can't sing." April spat, glaring at Casey.
"I didn't say you couldn't sing, I just said that you're most likely not going to win the talent show because Piper is the best in the school. And she's like best friends with Lindsay." Casey explained with a shrug.
"You haven't even heard Lilly sing. How can you say she won't win if you haven't heard her sing?" April growled.
"Because I don't have to. I've been to the talent show, and every year Piper wins."
"Her voice is horrible compared to Lilly's."
"Lilly sounds like an angel." Mikey laughed. I smiled at him.
"We're in high school! Everyone sounds horrible but thinks they sound great." Casey laughed, clearly annoyed at April.
"Well," I began, licking my popsicle. "I think I sound great and I actually sound great." I mumbled with a shrug.
Casey scoffed, shooting me a look of amusement. "Sure thing babe."
My eyes went wide before they narrowed. Babe? Babe! I nodded at his challenge, gladly accepting it. "Hold my popsicle." I said handing Raphael my popsicle. "Give me the mic." I ordered Donnie who had a proud smile on his face as he placed the mic in my hand.
"What song boss?" Donnie asked.
"I Care. And turn the volume up all the way." I ordered, beginning to clear my throat to make sure I could definitely hit every note, while Donnie looked for the song. Normally, I would wait till the show to prove him wrong- but nah. Let me show this dude now. I've sang this song before when I've been left alone with nothing to do. It's a lot. It's powerful, and I have to sing it full out if I want to sing it correctly, and I'll be so loud people above the surface will hear me. "I'm going all out." I said, as the Donnie finally found the song and pressed play. "I'm going to be loud, I'm going to feel the song." I turned to April, who finally sat down, "So don't think it's about anyone."
She nodded quickly.
"Get him girl!" Mikey cheered happily.
I nodded, my eyes couldn't help but shift to Raph who gave me a small nod. I smiled...and took a breath.
"I told you how you hurt me, baby
But you don't care.
Now I'm crying and deserted, baby
But you don't care.
Ain't nobody tell me this is love
But you're immune to all my pain
I need you to tell me this is love
You don't care, well that's okay.
Well, I care.
I know you don't care too much
But I still care, baby."
I couldn't see Casey's reaction, but I could feel it. I saw everyone react to the intensity, to the amount of power I was putting into this song. Everyone sort of jumped out of their seats, except Raph. He sort of straightened, chuckled then laid back in his seat. Almost like he was proud.
"Ever since you knew your power
You made me cry.
And now every time our love goes sour
You won't sympathize.
You see these tears falling down to my ears?
I swear, you like when I'm in pain
I try to tell you all my fears
You still don't care? That's okay, hey
Well, I care!"
Mikey was practically jumping with joy at that part. It was a build up, then I let it all out. I don't normally sing like this because I quickly lose my voice after, but I'm unloading all my power on this boy. I always get emotional in these types of songs, and I felt myself start to get wrapped up on this song. I was singing it pretty good.
"Boy, maybe if you cared enough
I wouldn't have to care so much
What happened to our trust?
Now you're just giving up
You used to be so in love
Now you don't care no more!"
The rest was guitar, and I wasn't going to, but I did mimic the sounds of the strings with my vocals. Beyoncé did it! So if I'm going to cover this song I might as well do it exactly like her. My voice went from normal to an almost Mariah Cary- well not exactly- type pitch. After the vocals, I finished of the song with the chorus and we were done. I was done.
When I was done, at first everyone just stayed silent... in shock? I don't know, probably. I mean my vocals were on point. Then Mikey suddenly jumped up from his seat and practically picked me up over his head. How the world is this little bundle or love that strong?
"AMAZING!" He yelled happily. When he put me down, he gave me the tightest, almost painfullest, hug ever. "You were amazing, mama! That was awesome!"
Donnie took the mic away from me, "I don't think you need to practice anymore." He laughed softly. "You were fantastic."
April stood, "That's it! That's the song!"
I rolled my eyes, "Jesus..."
"Oh come on! You sing that song at the talent show and you'll win for real." She shouted before turning to Casey, who's reaction was just as shocked as everyone else's. "Open your mouth wider, Jones. And put your foot where it belongs."
Casey snapped out of his daze, closing his open mouth and crossing his arms over his chest. "So what? You can sing. How original."
"I didn't know you could sing like that." Leo said softly. "Why haven't you been singing like that?"
"I-" I cleared my throat when I felt how scratching my throat felt. "I don't because I go hoarse right after. I told you guys, singing is not a hobby I do. So I'm not used to singing like that." My voice slowly began to sound like a smokers voice, raspy and husky.
Raph stood up, prying Mikey from my body, "That was good. You should stop talking though if you want a voice in the morning." He teased.
My eyes widened, "You ate my popsicle you fucker!" I yelled, taking nothing but a stick out of his hands. "I said hold it not eat it."
He shrugged, "Sorry..."
"Very impressive, Lillian." We all turned to see Master Splinter standing in front of the dojo. "I never would have guessed such a small body could have such an enormous voice. Its truly a wonderful gift."
"Thank you, Splinter." Small body? Heh, no.
"I was meditating when I heard yelling, afterwards I heard you singing with such sincerity." He explained, walking up to the couch.
"Yeah, I honestly thought you were going to start crying." Leo laughed.
I shook my head, "No. Sometimes, I get emotional in these types of songs but not like 'crying' emotional." My voice really started to go fade away.
"Maybe you should stop talking." Leo chuckled, giving my shoulder a pat.
April gave me a hug from behind, "You're perfect."
"Get off." I laughed, not even bothering to push her off.
A couple hours later...
His hand tangled into my hair, grabbing hold so he could pull my head back and smash his lips onto mine. My arms came up an around his neck, holding on as if for dear life. I felt Raph's other hand make its way down to my thigh, pulling my leg up to wrap around his leg, then with his body he pressed me up against the wall. I felt his tongue touch my lips, to which I gladly parted them. I let out a moan that sounded like a sigh instead- my voice is going to be gone tomorrow.
Raph was just walking me home, both of us quiet the entire way, when all of a sudden he urges me to go into a different direction and once I did he began to maul me in the best way possible. Raph is a very physical guy, but sometimes I feel like he's holding back so when he doesn't... Goddamn...
He breaks away from my swollen lips to come up for air, smirking cockily at the pink on my cheeks. "Embarrassed?"
I shook my head, "Not at all." I breathed hoarsely.
"Didn't mean to get all..." he shrugged. "...forceful on you."
"I think you did mean it." I cleared my throat, for some reason not wanting to admit the fact that I liked every bit of what he was doing. "What brought this on?"
He let go of my hair, leaving it all disheveled, and ran a finger across my plump lips. "I don't know... Something about you making Casey eat his words just rubbed me the right way." He shrugged. "Guy may be my best friend but it was so...hot the way you sang and shut him up."
"Even if I lost my voice afterward?" I asked.
"Absolutely," he kissed me again, softer this time. "I didn't know you could sing like that."
"Only when I want to." I answered, my own hand coming up to his face so I could trace his lips with my finger. "I have tons of secret weapons."
"Really?" He playfully bit my finger. "Maybe you can show me sometime. In private."
"Maybe, depends." I giggled, feeling my cheeks grow even warmer.
"Yeah? On what?"
"Whether or not you're a good boy." I gave his cheek a little tap, laughing at the way his eyes darkened with...desire? Raph has never acted this way before. It's a little early to say the least... I think almost three months, I don't know I'm a horrible girlfriend. It may be the slowest relationship I've ever been in. So for Raph to be this assertive, but then is not going to even try to lift up my shirt is just...probably the hottest thing anyone has ever done to me. Usually, three months in and we're already fucking. But now with Raph. He's slow. Like a turtle.
He let out this growl before laughing, sending chills down my spine. He lifted my chin to give me another kiss, "I guess we'll see."
I bit my lip, my hands now playing with his tattered bandana. "You know what I just...adore about you?" I watch his face morph into an odd expression, almost as if he were suddenly disappointed. "You're the first boyfriend I've ever had that doesn't immediately try to unhook my bra when we make out."
He blinked, "Oh... Well, I mean..." he shrugged. "I have-"
"Well well well..." We both jumped, immediately pulling away from each other when we heard that voice that I hate. "I was right after all!" Casey laughed.
I held a hand to my head, "Great," I breathed.
"What the hell are you doing here Casey?" Raph growled at him, as he walked out from a corner.
"Going home. You do understand you've been gone for at least an hour?"
"Tell me why I give a fuck." Raph snapped.
Casey smirked, "Hey listen, it's your funeral. Everyone jokes about you two being together, none of us actually thought it was true. So imagine what will happen when everyone finds out you two are sneaking off to suck face."
I felt the heat from Raph's skin radiate intensely, causing me to back off. He was pissed and so was I. My eyes watched as Raph's left hand clenched while his right hand began to reach around to grab his sai. My heart began to beat rapidly in fear. "Um..." I chocked out.
"You're not going to tell anyone." Raphael snarled.
"Really? I think I am." Casey joked, reach up to grab his...stick.
I placed a hand on Raph's shoulder, I felt his muscle tense in response. "Casey, please don't say anything."
Casey blinked, then rolled his eyes. "Give me a reason as to why I should do something nice to you, when you've been nothing but a bitch to me."
Raph growled, taking a step forward. I placed my hand on his chest before he did anything else, he was going to kill Casey if I let him. As much as I want to see Casey hurt, I'm not going to let Raph touch his friend. "Casey, I'm asking you nicely. I know we haven't been...the best of friends. I know you hate me and trust me the feeling is mutual, but no one is ready for us to come out and say that we're together."
"You wanna know why? Because this is just freaking weird! Did you honestly expect everyone to agree with what you guys are doing? And you're hiding! That makes everything ten times worse." Casey yelled, pointing at me.
I felt my stomach turn when I found it really hard to keep calm. Raph grabbed my wrist, squeezing it as tight as he could without hurting me. I placed my other hand on his, attempting to clam his down. "I know. I know. That's why we don't want you to tell anyone. They're not ready, just like we aren't."
Casey scoffed, "I'll say."
I let go of Raph's hands, going up to Casey and pushing his shoulders back. "Listen!" I yelled, doing anything I had to do to get through him. "I'm trying really hard to keep Raphael back from kicking your scrawny little ass, and you and I both know he can. Now all I'm asking is this one favor! Do you think you have enough brain cells to understand that? One favor!"
"Why would I ever do something for you?" Casey growled, getting back in my face.
I never flinched, my body straightened. "Don't do it for me. Do it for Raph."
Casey finally stopped, his eyes broke their mean stare and shifted to Raphael behind me. He finally gave in with a sigh, "Fine. I'll keep quiet. But I'm not going to be quiet forever."
"What are you-" Raph began.
"I'm saying, you tell everyone soon or I will. It's not right to keep secrets from your brothers, dude." Casey spat at him. Before Raph could respond, I raised my hand to stop him. Casey was just as hard headed as Raph, but thankfully I knew how to get through Raph.
"Fine." I said. "We will. But you have to give us time."
He nodded after a while, wow he's actually a good person. Shocking... "Fine."
I nodded slowly, turning back to Raph. "I'll walk home by myself. We'll talk later." I stopped myself from leaning in to kiss him, not in front of Casey at least. Maybe later. Hopefully... I turned back to Casey, "Thank you..." I said before walking home, in my own silence.
~Raph's POV~
"I should bash your face in!" I growled through gritted teeth, pushing Casey against the wall before walking back to the lair.
"Me?"
"Yeah! You!" I stopped, turning around again to get in his face. "I'm not ready to tell my family. I don't think I'll ever be ready and you just pushed me far away from actually wanting to look my family in the eyes!"
"You're lying to them!"
"I'm not lying. I'm just not saying anything."
"That's like lying. It's not fair to anyone."
"You don't think I know that?" I grunted, rubbing my temples in frustration. Lilly has been the only one pushing me into telling everyone, now I have to have Casey on my ass too? Jesus Christ. "Accept it or you don't. I don't care. If you don't have anything nice to say about Lilly then you shut up."
"Damn you really like her." Casey chuckled. He gave my shoulder a rough pat, "Dude, I'm happy for you, I really am. But why did you have to pick Lilly?" I knew he was joking, but I still had to give him a punch in the arm.
"At least I got a girl." I joked right back.
Casey rubbed his forearm in pain, smirking evilly at me. "Well, I mean, she is cute. You seem like you were having fun with her back there."
I felt my face get warm, suddenly I realized Casey did walk in at the complete wrong time. "You were watching you perv."
"I wasn't watch- don't change the subject."
"If you run into us again, do me a favor- keep walking." I may not be as pissed at him, but I'm still irritated and frustrated, and thanks to him it's worst kind of frustration a teen with a girl like Lilly can get.
"Oh yeah, wouldn't want to cockblock my pal." He teased, giving me a weak punch to the arm. "Hey, let me know if you want some advice. I am quite the lady's man, if you know what I'm saying." He joked, winking at me.
"Ha! Like you've ever been with a girl."
"I've been with tons!"
"I've been with more girls than you. And I'm a mutant."
"You honestly think I haven't been with at least one girl?"
"Yeah."
"You're such a-" Casey playfully gave me another punch. Weak ass punch.
Please ignore any mistakes. And again I'm sorry for being late, but life comes first always. Thank you for sticking with this. Another will be on the way shortly.
