"Steve, sorry to leave ringing you until now." Mike says Steve had expected the phone call from him to be later than expected, his gut told him something wasn't right, and the fact when he got told they are on board and Kate was injured, his gut was right and he knew then that Mike wouldn't ring until Kate was off Hammersley.

"Kate, needed you Mike. There is no need to be sorry at all." There is silence before Mike speaks again

"Steve something not right here."

"You're telling me, what the hell happened out there tonight.?" Steve asks and can hear Mike's uneven breathing. He knows he is trying to compose himself right now.

"Has the transfer to Melbourne happened yet?" Steve asks he knows part of what happened tonight, what Hammersley knows he knows, but he doesn't' know Mike's side of it all but he decides to change the subject when he heard Mike's uneven breathing but not everything

"Yes it has that is why I am ringing now."

"And Kate?"

"It's bad."

"Yes Nick told me things weren't good, so explain to me what happened."

"Can I do that once we are back, there are more important issues right now. Gary wasn't behind the fire and bombing one of his men Brandon Green was, I shot him in self defensive. Well not men but someone he employs to help move stuff around was, he wasn't happy we were back on the scene he also thinks we are Gary's mole, I also found out who that was tonight. But the thing is the SAS Sir something isn't right with their operation. I say Kate and I have been doing our job a bit too well. I think the SAS think we must be a part of it all, as in on the bad side not the good but Sir you will be getting reports sent via coded email from Chris and Dylan about their actions tonight. They were prepared to leave Gary and Kate to die."
"WHAT." Steve yells and a few of those in the office so early hear him yell WHAT into the phone.

"Kate doesn't think it is over with them just yet, she said to watch my back, and her gut hasn't been wrong yet." Mike says through the phone. "Barb didn't get injured at all, but she will need to be looked after once we get back to shore, she needs protection more than every now, someone has to be here to get her off the boat, I do not want Jim or any of the SAS men left on board to touch her let alone handle her. The thing is Sir, Gary may not make it he is far worse than Kate, but if he does, he won't ever be the same person he is now. I think he is no longer an issue or a problem and I think you need to pass that information on, I think our issue now is with the SAS guys on board. I have no idea what they do and do not know about Kate and I and our mission, the look I say on Captain Jim Roth at the transfer, the look is odd. And thinking about that, make sure Gary and Kate are under guard at the hospital once they get there, I want no one and I mean no one that is not SIS or us involved near them for their own protection, that means no Army, no police, no Feds, SIS and us few Navy guys that know the truth."

"The SAS aren't meant to know your involvement in all of this, they were told you came across them by accident, but if they know more then they've gotten it without setting off the alarms on the files, so there could be a mole within the SIS and us, your files are sealed remember, plus if they do try and go back they will only be able to go back to when this all first started. Don't worry I will sort it, and do not let Barb off until I am there, I will collect both of you once you have docked back in port."

"But what if there is a mole, what if they have gotten the info without those alarms going off, what does it mean for Kate and I?" Mike askes now worried if there is a mole will the two ever get their happy ever after.

"Let me worry about that one ok, you worry about covering your backside."

The two talk for a little longer, Mike informs him of what Kate has asked him to get done, and he has no issue sorting it and getting it done for him. Steve feels it is the least he can do, make them husband and wife for real, just in case this does go custard on them all.

On the way back to Base Hammersley even though it wasn't meant to be doing anything but going back to base had to deal with a Mayday call, being the closest asset to the vessel they had to go.

The night Kate and Mike go to Stay with Gary and Barb

JIM POV

Jim is going through more information that he has been able to get his hands on during the morning, he sees more and more photos of Mike and Kate, photos of them over the last few months, as well as photos of the two of them back 15 years ago.

He views loads of photos of the two of them together, apart and with their target and those also involved with the target. It includes photos of them in the Navy as well, including photos of them before Kate joined Hammersley.

He gets given names Burns and then McGregor and Flynn, he can't only get info back as far as fifteen years ago, his go to guy unable to get anything before then on any of the names Jim has given him, anything before that is gone or not available to him at present. He even gets the info about their home in Brisbane being burnt to the ground and the boat explosion a few days ago. He had heard of the boat explosion but had no idea who's boat it was until now. Even gets bank account information, including all the money that the two have in their names.

The photos and information leave Jim wondering what the hell is going on. He thought he knew Kate, and he thought he also knew Mike, but a lot of these photos were telling him that they weren't who he had always thought they were, that they must be on the wrong side of the law. He even gets information that shows Mike and Kate helping transport weapons and other items for Gary. Shows the lifestyle that they lived in before becoming Navy, and the lifestyle they are back living again.

He loves Kate and he hopes to get her away from Mike, but also he needs to explain his actions after the explosion. He wants her to reconsider his proposal, he is prepared to do whatever he can to get her away from Mike and these bad people and he will do whatever he has to provide her with protection.

His men see the photos as well and they think Mike and Kate are part of Gary's team and using the Navy to help Gary, they know that Kate meant something to Jim, but to them they all make a pac that if anything happens they will let them die, they know they shouldn't but if they have the option of it they'll leave them and save themselves. They are just sick of having to see the shit that these people are helping cause by supplying them with the weapons and such that they need to kill people.

Jim and his team were heading towards the second home to get more information, to lay more bugs into the home, Jim wanting to spy on Mike and Kate as well. They know Gary uses the home when his son isn't with them, and he knows he will be heading back there soon as school is back, and he knows it is his main location when his son is not with them.

On their way there they encounter some trouble front eh locals and end up with some injuries, they call Hammersley for help to get them out, once they have them transferred to the Hammersley guys they head off. No idea that the Hammersley crew will be coming back after them.

As they approach the house they realise something else has been going on at the property, Jim spots one of Gary's vehicles in the driveway. Gun fire is heard and shots ring out.

Hammersley hears the shots as well.

As the SAS move around the property they come across Gary, Barb, Mike and Kate.

Jim ends up with them as well, and isn't impressed by what he hears from Mike. He would have gone and given help to Kate, but Mike refused their help, but also he called her wife. He became more pissed off when the Hammersley guys turned up and went in straight away to help the four on the ground.

His heart was being pulled in all directions, he was made, sad, cross, upset, worried at seeing Kate like she was, but the way Mike and her were talking was really hard to take in, but he still was prepared to do what he had to, to be with her. He wanted to protect her. But their such open display of affection pissed him off the most. And the loyalty of the crew worried him, he knew that they would be the biggest issue when it comes to bringing these people in for the crimes he feels they all have committed.

Once on board he struggled to find where Kate was, Swain refused to give him any information apart from info on his own badly injured team members. He managed to run into Dutchy, but DUtchy who he thought highly of was short and rude to him, and was being a right arse to him, even when he told him there is more to the two than he knows, but what surprised him was when Dutchy said he had highly classification than him, as far as he knew and remembered Dutchy didn't have the same level as him. He is just now presuming he was telling him fibs, in hopes that Jim would toe the line. He just hopes that Dutchy toes the line and doesn't mention what his men did out there tonight. He wasn't happy with them either about it but he trusts his men, if they weren't going in then neither does he, they all have each other's backs.

3hours later

Hammersley

Mike is resting in the CO cabin, having been told to use it to rest while they are dealing with duties.

"Mike , Doctor from Melbourne is on the line for you." Nick the CO of Hammersleys says to him as he points to the phone on the wall. Mike gets up and answers

"Mike Speaking." He says into the phone once he has picked it up, the worry evident in his voice.

"Mike, Lieutenant commander Wayne Smith from Melbourne here. I'm ringing regarding your wife Kate, we had no choice but to rush her straight into surgery once she was on board, things were touch and go during surgery, but she is now stable and we do expect her to make a full recovery." Mike breathes a sigh of relief that Kate is going to be ok, that she will make it after all. They talk more about her injuries so that Mike has some idea of what lays ahead for her in regards to her recovery. Lucky apart from four serious bullet wounds the rest are all minor but with them all together it was making it hard for her body to cope with the blood loss, stress and pain from them.

Once off the phone Mike goes and informs Swain of how Kate is doing as well as Dutchy, but they keep it to themselves for now all three suspecting there is something else going on.

NAVCOM

While Hammersley has been cruising back to base, Steve has been doing more digging trying to find out what is going on, and if the Army have been hacking records, secret records, the delay in them returning home aids him in more ways than one as it allows him to sort out so much more that needed doing.

He was pleased with the phone regarding Kate and the other seriously injured sailors, he also got word about Gary, he was flown and operated on straight away, and at present he was still in surgery. A long surgery is never a good surgery at all. He knows the odds too well.

Navy Docks

Hammersley is now docking and there are a number of cars sitting on the pier waiting for the arrival of Hammersley.
