HMAS Melbourne

Out at Sea

Once the transfer was done they started to access the injured even more, the medics on board where impressed with Swains work on the injured and how well he managed it all, they could tell he wasn't afraid and could multi-task.

They were hoping to medi vac Kate and Gary out together but within 5mins of getting on board, Kate crashed and flat lined, and they had no choice but to open her up once they got her heart pumping again. They spent two hours working on her, with her heart stopping two more times on the table, once they managed to get her wounds internally stitched up and got more blood into her she started to clot, and blood wasn't coming from her wounds into her stomach cavity. AS they were closing her up they noticed her BP was becoming normal. They then carried on working on her other injuries, cleaning them up and stitching them as and where needed.

Kate woke very prefelly while on board, but thanks to all the drugs she is on she didn't stay awake for long before nodding back off to sleep. All she knew was that they have operated on.

The next time she wakes is when they are transferring her from Melbourne into the awaiting Ambulance, all she wants right now is Mike, she remembers hearing Steve's voice, but she just can't remember what he said to her.

Navy Docks

Hammersley is now docking and there are a number of cars sitting on the pier waiting for the arrival of Hammersley. Steve stands on the dock ready to board it as soon as the gangplank is put on it, on the back deck he sees the SAS with some of their gear, he knows it won't be all their gear as the guns will be under lock and key right now.

Jim looks at the pier and sees Steve standing on the dock, along with several other people, as well as their own transport, and the ambulances there to take those who need to go to the hospital to it.

Jim watches as Steve walks on board followed by three other people who are well dressed, this leaves Jim wondering what is going on, wondering if Steve knows of Mike and Kate's true identity and that they are here to arrest them and take them away. He still wants to protect her with every fiber of his body and he is hoping he can still do it.

Inside Hammersley

"Barb, you need to go with these people, they here to take you to Gary, but also they here to protect you do not and I mean it Barb, do not go anywhere without them." Mike says to her, he knows it's better coming from him than anyone else, he knows if he says this to her there is more chance she will do it and listen and then it means she is being protected

"Can you come with me too?" She asks him, she is scared to go with these people.

"I can't, I'm sorry I have to go in the ambulance." He says back to her he would love to go with her and support her, but his own injuries are such that he must go in the ambulance and he has already been told this by Swain.

"I will be safe with them wont I?" She asks, the last twenty four hours have left her scared as shit, and not sure who to trust.

"Yes you will be safe with them." He says and then they all leave Hammersley.

Jim watches as Mike and Steve leave the ship with several people in tow, including the wife of Gary, he watches as Barb is placed into a tinted window vehicle, with the well dressed people who followed Steve onto Hammersley, Mike goes into an Ambulance with a SIS agent with him but only Steve knows this agent and the ones with Barb are SIS, Steve then gets into a seperate vehicle to head back to NAVCOM so that he can figure out what is going on, the SIS agents that have come down are special SIS ones that 90% of SIS do not know work for the SIS they are the ones used to guard the high profile, but also to help find issues. They are a select team of highly skilled workers, so highly skilled they can protect anyone in the world including the Queen herself.

Cairns Naval Hospital,

The hospital was alerted to a mass injured personal that would be coming in. Two would be coming in via med-vac that was on its way to rondevu with HMAS Melbourne. The hospital is also informed that some of the patients are going to have people standing guard on their doors, and he also asked them to have an area just for those patients.

The hospital gets word that only one patient is coming in via air as the second patient had to go into emergency surgery on board Melbourne to stabilize them. When that patient arrives he is taken straight into surgery, he is stable which surprises them but they know he is badly injured.

Several hours later the hospital is still treating and working on the injured people that have not only come in via Melbourne but not Hammersley. The hospital now has a single ward just for all those needing to stay and be monitored, between the hospital and Marshall they have sorted a team of Doctors and nurses that will only work in this ward, and that all those entering and leaving must sign in and out with times. He also has a list of who can visit Mike and Kate, and this list is bloody small, but he is wanting to protect them.

Mike ended up needing to go in to surgery even though he looked fine his wounds were not so fine after all. During the surgery one of his wounds had a bullet in it, they removed it and put it in an evidence bag. The doctors know there was a fire fight and there is an investigation into it all.

Kate wakes again this time she can tell she is in a hospital room, she hears the sounds of machines beeping, the smell also lets her know, it has that hospital clean smell. She can't help herself as she looks around and finds Mike laying in a bed not too far away from her own bed, O2 mask on his face, and machines on him just like her. She has no idea of the time. Or how long she has been in the hospital, she is just pleased to see Mike even if he is asleep on the bed beside her, as she watches him, she tries to move to make it easier to look at him but as she does she notices she is very sore and that moving isn't going to be easy at all if she can move. She looks to the ceiling, trying to hold her emotions in, that she doesn't notice that Mike has woken up.

"You ok." she hears from Mike, his voice not sounding as strong as normal. She turns to look at him again.

"Shouldn't I be asking you that?"
"They needed to knock me out to give my wounds a good clean."

"Problems were there?"

"Yea. God it's so good to see your beautiful face again honey." Kate can tell he is feeling emotional right now, just by how he spoke to her. She can't help but shed a few tears.

The two just lay there looking at each other, nothing being said just knowing they are both alive right now is all that they need. THough they would love to be closer so they can at least reach out and touch each other, but for both they are pleased they are just alive and can see each other.

NAVCOM

CAIRNS

The Chief of Navy has arrived at NVCOM after getting a phone call from Steve, after speaking to Mike, and Mike's worry that someone has been digging into their past, and what they have been and not been doing. Before leaving to head to Cairns he made several phones calls and set several things into motion hoping that by the time

HOSPITAL

Jim has arrived at the hospital after doing a debrief back at their base and then trying to get more information and putting a few things in place for when he can get Kate away from Mike, he was making sure he had everything ready to go to protect her from chargers and such for her part in all of this, and also have her somewhere safe as well.

As he is being escorted through the hospital he notices when he gets to the ward where they are being kept that there are people guarding the doors, he was shocked that he had to sign in and produce ID of who he was before being allowed into the ward. Once in he is shown to where his men are kept. He tries to see if he can figure out which room is Kate's but he can't see into any of the rooms, and each room has someone standing outside of them as well. For him this sets off warning bells in a way because even his guys have someone guarding them.

"Nurse can I please be taken to Lieutenant McGregors room please."

"And your name is?"

"Captain Jim Roth." the nurse checks the names on the list in front of her and doesn't find his name on it at all.

"Sorry Sir but you're not on her list of approved visitors."

"Approved visitors? I am her partner, she is my fiance." He says he knows he shouldn't lie but is hoping that this may get her in.

"Sorry Sir but I have been given a list, and on this list your name isn't on it, so I can't let you in regardless of who you say you are." She says, unknown to Jim is that the Chief of Navy has overheard him and what he is asking.

"I don't care about your list, I need to see her NOW." He demands and before he knows it there are two men standing beside him.

"Sir you have been informed you are unable to visit either leave now or you will be escorted out." one of them says firmly to him and Jim is not impressed.

"And who are you to tell me what to do."

"That would be me, Captain. I have given very strict orders to be followed. You are only allowed on this ward to visit your men and only them and no one else. If you would like to cause problems I will talk to your Chief and explain to him how you are acting." Jim looks at him and notices he is in the Navy.

"I just want to see my Fiance, how hard is that to ask." Jim asks him.

"Captain we were informed several months ago that your engagement with Lieutenant McGregor was called off by her, we received notification of this via email plus her signing paperwork removing you from her emergency contact lists."

"Excuse me." Jim says to him he is shocked by what he has heard.

"She provided us with the information including the fact she had to do it via email due to you not talking to her, I would say that it ended over six months ago now wouldn't you Captain." For the Chief he is wondering if this person is the one who has been doing the digging or asking to have the digging done. He also knows a lot more about what has been going on with Jim and Kate.

"I'm sorry Sir but if you knew who she really is you wouldn't be protecting her like you guys are. Your golden girl isn't so golden." He says as he starts to walk away, and after Jim says that he knows who is behind all of this.

"Captain, I want to see you tomorrow morning at 9am at NAVCOM, there is no choice in the matter. Be there or face chargers." Then Jim leaves, shaking his head not at all happy about having to meet with this person.

He walks to Mike and Kate's Room, as the nurse can tell who he will want to see first and foremost.

"How are you two doing?"
"Sore, tired," They both say to him at the same time.

"I need you two to sign this bit of paperwork." He says as he hands over some paperwork for the two of them to sign, when Kate reads it she smiles and signs away without second thoughts. Mike already knows what it will be and signs it without reading it at all.

"Also you guys, the ward you are on has everyone injured last night, there are also SIS guys keeping guard along with a few FEDS as well. There are very strict rules on who can visit which rooms. Gary has been airlifted to Brisbane, he needs highly specialized treatment that he can't get here. His wife is there as well. Also as of now the case is closed. We have spoken with Gary's doctor, if he does survive, he has a 20% chance of surviving, the damage from his injuries are massive including brain damage, the SIS feel that it isn't worth pressing charges against him now, they are bringing in his men that did survive, and that wasn't many at all." For all three they are happy it is over with but not on the grounds it is now over, with a son who could lose his father, a wife her husband, and if he does make it he will never be the same person he was before hand.

"Now Kate do you want Captain Roth to have access to you?"

"No I do not, he was happy to stand there and let us die." She says to the Chief.

"That is what I thought, he did try to pull the I'm your fiance card to get in here, then he said something else to me which makes me think he may know a lot more about you two. And thanks to you being too good at filing paperwork Mike (This is a dig at Mike and his hatred of paperwork.) the copies of the emails from Kate and you getting her to sign to have him removed from the emergency contact, even though it isn't normal was good and I think we will add this as important now."

"I did that to protect myself and Kate, I didn't want something being said about me removing him for personal reasons. For my own agenda. Plus I knew if I kept copies and anything is said you guys would be able to trace our emails and find them and now that they are real and not fake, or have been changed."
