Karai
~Lilly's POV~
"Ian I'm just going to wait by the door while you flirt with every woman you freaking see." I groaned in annoyance.
Ian turned red with embarrassment, "Lilly! I am not!" The cashier lady giggled causing Ian to turn even more red. "Little pain." He chuckled nervously while scratching the back of his head.
I sighed, pulling out my phone to text Raph back. I think I'm going to tell him I loved him, I really do want to. Every time I open my mouth though, nothing but air comes out. Like...what the hell does Raph have to do for me to tell him? And he never asks about it which is so sweet because it means he doesn't want to put any pressure on me. He's been so patient he deserves to hear it from me...ugh! What is wrong with me?
I should just text him that I loved him... Nah, I wanna see the look on his face when I say it. When are you going to say it, Lillian?
A girl about my age walked in front of me, dropping one of her groceries in front of me. I picked it up, it was a small bag of baby carrots. "Excuse me," I called but she walked out of the store. I looked at Ian who was still talking to that cashier lady and sighed. Whatever. I walked out after the girl, finding her and tapping her on the shoulder. "Excuse me, you dropped this."
She looked at my hand and smiled, "Oh thanks."
I smiled back at her, "No problem." I couldn't help but stare at her make up. "And, nice make up."
"Thanks! You too."
I smiled and began walking back inside before she stopped me, "Do I know you?" She suddenly asked.
I turned around and stared at her face before scrolling through all the faces I've met in my mind. I shook my head, "No I don't-"
"Do you know April?" She asked. "April O'Neil?"
"Yeah. What's your name?" I asked.
"Harmony..." she held out her hand. "You're Lillian right?"
For a moment, I stood there staring at her hand. Something was off. She knew my name before I even said it and April has never mentioned a Harmony... "I am. How long have you known April?" I slowly took her hand.
"A while. She's told me a lot about you."
"Really?" I asked, smiling confusedly. "That's weird, she's never mentioned you. How do you know her?"
She smiled, "I met her a while ago. She knows my father. Her family and mine go way back. Not related though."
Why couldn't I figure out who this girl was? Why hasn't April mentioned anything about her? "Hmm... Harmony. I'll ask her about you."
She looked at me with this strange stare, almost like she was trying to read me. "You guys go to school together, huh?"
"Um... Yeah. What school do you go to?"
"Home schooled."
"Oh really? Cool."
"Not really. My...dad's the teacher so that can get annoying sometimes."
I shrugged my shoulders, "Parents."
"Yeah..." this conversation was going no where.
I'm ending it right here, "Well, it was nice-"
"Aren't you dating her friend?"
My heart fell into my stomach. I tried not to act surprise. Instead I just acted confused. April definitely hasn't talked about the guys to anyone. She's never talk about me dating Raph to anyone without me knowing. "I'm sorry what?"
"April mentioned you hanging around with one of her friends a lot. She said it was like you two were dating. What was his name...?" She pressed a finger to her chin in thought then she snapped her fingers. "Raphael!"
I raised an eye brow, "Um...no. She's wrong about that. I don't know a...Raphael."
She smirked, "Oh really..." she shrugged. "Guess she's just crazy."
"Maybe. It was nice meeting you!" I said waving at her.
She just stood there, smiling really weirdly at me. "See you soon..." She said before turning.
I blinked. Okay...? What the hell was that about?
"Lillian?" Ian suddenly said behind me. I jumped, turning around to see him carrying two giant bags of groceries. "What did I say about leaving my sight?"
I rolled my eyes, "What did I say about flirting with random women, Ian?"
"I was not flirting! What I can't have a simple conversation?"
"You? No. You literally fall in love at 'hello' with every woman that says it."
Ian rolled his eyes before motioning with his head, "Let's go." He said.
I needed to talk to April. One, why does she have a friend that I've never heard of? Two, why is she telling random people about Raph and I? That doesn't sound like something April would do but...right now I don't know who to believe.
Later that day...
"Hey Lilly!"
"Hi Mikey," I walked over to April who was sitting right next to Mikey. "Where's everybody?"
"Donnie's in the lab and Raph and Leo are training." She said. Her small smiled turned into a frown once she noticed how upset I looked. "What's wrong, you look like something's bothering you?"
I shrugged, "Something is bothering me." I crossed my arms over my chest. "Are you telling people my business?"
She blinked, "What?"
"I just ran into one or your 'friends', and she told me that you told her I was dating Raph. But then I thought, why would April be telling other people about the guys, especially about how I'm dating one of them?"
April shook her head, "I haven't told anyone. What friend were you talking about?"
"I ran into her at the grocery store, over by my house. She dropped her baby carrots and I picked them up for her and then she asked if she knew me but I've never seen her before in my life."
Whatever I was saying caught Mikey's attention. April just shook her head and narrowed her eyes in confusion so I continued.
"She asked me if I knew you. I asked her who she was and she said she was your friend and that your family and hers go back. You know her father... What was her name?" I asked myself. Wow, I forgot her name and I met her not too long ago. What's wrong with me? "Heather...? I don't know it was something like that."
April shook her head, "I've never been friends with a Heather. And I would never just blurt our to just anyone that you're dating Raphael when I barely talk about the guys to just random strangers..."
"She mentioned Raphael by name though."
"Who mentioned me?" Raph said, coming over and sitting right next to me. "Hey babe," He said before kissing my cheek.
"April's friend. I ran into her and she mentioned you. So either April knows someone or you do."
Raph's frowned, "What's her name?"
"I don't know. Heather...Haley... Something along those lines. She was really weird. She knew my name before I even told her anything."
"Harmony?" April asked suddenly.
"There it is! That was it! So you do know her?"
April sighed, "I know her." She grabbed my hand, "What did you say to her when she asked if you were dating Raph?"
"I told her I didn't know a Raphael. I acted like I had no idea what she was talking about. Why? What's wrong?"
Her eyes shifted from me to Raph, "Harmony... It's Karai."
"Karai...?" My brows frowned in thought before I pointed at April. "Leo's ex?"
Raph's let out a sigh before leaning forward to rest his head on his hands. "Shit..." he cursed. "I knew this was going to happen."
"What? What is going to happen?"
Raph's turned to me, "Nothing. Nothing is going to happen. I promised you I'd keep you safe and that's exactly what I'm going to do."
"Okay," I said with a confused smile. From what I remember, Karai wasn't good. But I haven't heard anyone mention her name in a long time so I figured she just left the guys alone. Apparently I was wrong.
"What exactly did she say to you?" April asked.
"If I knew you... I said yes. Then she asked if I was dating Raph because you said I'm always hanging out with him. I told her I didn't know him." I shrugged. "She seemed fine with my answer but when I said bye she said 'see you soon'. I thought that was weird."
"She knows." April said looking a Raph. "If she knows about Lilly that means the Foot know and maybe even Shredder."
Raph's mouth was a hard line. He motioned towards the dojo, "Come on, we have to talk to Master Splinter."
I followed him inside the dojo where both Leo and Splinter were meditating. They're making a big deal out of this, maybe I should have kept my mouth shut. Raph cleared his throat, "Sensei,"
Splinter opened an eye before he opened both, Leo didn't budge. "What it is, Raphael?"
"There's bit of an emergency." That's when Leo turned around. "Karai knows about Lilly."
Leo stood, "How do you know?"
Raph's looked at me, urging me to tell them. I sighed, "I ran into her at the grocery store."
Leo shook his head, "No you didn't." Um...What? "You don't just run into Karai. She was most likely following you. Did she say anything?"
"Um..." I highly doubt she was following me. She dropped her baby carrots. "She asked me if I knew April. Then she asked me if I was dating Raph."
"And what'd you say?"
"That I didn't know anyone named Raphael."
Leo glared at Raph, "See! I told you they would find out. Now she knows which puts Lilly in a dangerous position because now the Shredder knows."
There's that name again. You know, I've been dating Raph for a while and I still don't know everything that goes around these parts. "Okay...who the hell is this Shredder and why is he called that because that is the stupidest bad guy name I've ever heard?" When no one answered, I grabbed Raph by the arm. "Whats going on? Why is this such a big deal?"
"Lillian..." Master Splinter sighed. "Karai is very dangerous. She attacked April and she will attack you without hesitation."
"Okay? Wha did I do?"
"It's not what you did, it's us." Leo explained. "Karai will take you, to get to us. To get to Raph."
"Why does she hate you guys so much?"
Master splinter sighed once again, "Karai was raised with the idea that I'm her mother's murderer. The Shredder, her adoptive father...raised her to think like him. To have hatred in her heart. To seek out revenge any way possible."
I held my breath, my hands tightening around Raph's arm. "Murdered... Of course you didn't, right?"
Raph's shook his head, "No. That was his wife."
I gasped, "Wait... Karai is..." my eyes moved to the picture of the family he had. "If that's your wife, then that's...your daughter." It was actually hard to wrap my head around. "Oh wow..."
"We've told her. We've tried to reason with her but she doesn't want to see the truth." Leo said.
"And this Shredder guy..."
"He's extremely dangerous." Splinter began. "He has been our enemy from the beginning."
"But why?"
"They were both in love with the same girl. But that girl chose Sensei. And the Shredder has hated him ever since. You see, the Shredder is the one who killed Shen."
I stayed silent, Master Splinter has been through so much. I didn't know what to say. I wanted to ask what does this all have to do with me, but according to Leo, if they get me it's to get to Raph. To hurt him.
Leo turned to Master Splinter, "Now that she knows who Lilly is and how she's with Raph, things are even more dangerous than they were before."
Raph wrapped his arm around my waist, I looked at him but he never looked back. I think he was just reassuring me that he was there. I never doubted that.
Master Splinter stroked his beard in thought before sighing. "The only decision is that you two stop seeing each other for a while. At least for a week or so. If Karai does this again we must act upon it."
Raph sighed, "I knew you were going to say that."
"Is there a way I can help?" I asked.
Leo chuckled, "How?"
That attitude he has needs to be put away. Not with me Leo, you won't win. "My mother is dating the commissioner. He's always at our house. Also, Ian...I'm not supposed to say, but Ian knows a couple guys who can get him some guns if needed. Apparently he's a pretty good shot."
Raph's shook his head, "In order for them to understand the situation, they're going to have to know about us. All of us."
Master Splinter nodded, "Very well,"
"What? No... No no no no, you guys can't show yourself to my mom. It...it's...too-"
"Don't worry about us, Lilly. If this is what we have to do to keep you safe we will do it." Leo said.
My mother is going to freak. I don't want her to meet Raph. I most certainly didn't want her to meet his family. What's Ian going to say? What about Barry?! He'll turn them in. I let go of Raph's arm, "You can't be serious..."
"Lilly," Raph grabbed me by the shoulders. "Karai works with the Shredder. If the Shredder knows you are with me, he will use that against me. He will try...to hurt you. You know, I'd do anything to save you. You know... So please, this one time, let me worry about what's going to happen to you."
I smiled, "We don't know that anything will happen to me."
"Lilly, if we don't do anything, then something will happen. You don't understand."
"Raph, yes I do."
"No you don't!" He yelled, catching me off guard. "I'm not letting anything happen to you. I said I wouldn't go behind your back anymore, so I'm telling this to you now. We are showing ourselves to you family. That's final."
He took his hands off my shoulders and sighed. There was no point in yelling back, there was no point in arguing. I could tell his mind was made up. And he's so stubborn that when his mind is made up that's it. So I just...shut my mouth. I guess this was actually serious.
Raph turned, "When do we do this, Sensei?"
Master Splinter thought, "As soon as possible."
Raph nodded, "Alright, get your family ready. We'll give you twenty minutes then we'll show up."
"So fast? I mean I thought-"
"Lillian," Raph interrupted
I sighed, before nodding.
"I know this isn't how you wanted it to happen, but I can't risk anything." He said softly. "I can't think twice. Not with you..."
I understood.
Leo nodded, "Alright then, I'll let the guys know. Raph, take Lilly home."
He grabbed my hand and we followed Leo to the living room where he told everyone what the plan was. Everyone nodded in agreement while I just stood there in silence. This was happening so fast...but you either take it head on or run away like a coward. I grabbed Raph's arm and rested my head on his shoulder, I liked him too much to run away.
April came up to me, "Do you need me to be there?"
"I'm good." I said.
Raph led me to the Shellraiser, as everyone calls it, and we were off. The ride wasn't awkward but it was pleasant. We both were silent, I wasn't mad that he yelled at me. I was just thinking about what I got myself into. Almost a year into the relationship, I'm just now thinking about what I got myself into. When I said I accepted the outcomes of whatever may come, I was saying that thinking everyone was just being dramatic. No... Apparently everyone was serious and now it's a matter of life and death.
"I'm sorry for yelling." He broke the silence. "But I just needed you to stop worrying about me. I mean, I get why you don't want me to meet your mom and Ian. Not like this. But I-"
"I understood. I'm not mad. It's just..." I shrugged. "It's hard to wrap my head around."
Raph's sighed. "It's my fault. I'm careless when I go see you. I don't make sure people aren't following me. I already know Ian is going to hate me because of that."
I knew that too. Ian is very protective. "I don't hate you."
"That's all I really care about. Especially after this."
I walked over to him, draping my arms over his shoulders while he drove. "I could never hate you."
He smiled, "Yeah? Me either."
"Before you meet my mom, I wanna apologize ahead of-"
He shook his head, "Don't. If you had to apologize for everything your mom does or says, you wouldn't have a voice." He grabbed my hand and kissed it. "I know you're not ready for this, I don't think I am either but like I said...if this is what I have to do..."
"Do it." I kissed his cheek. "It's nice to know you care so much."
"Of course I do! I love you." Just then he pulled up to alleyway next to my house. He turned off the car, and stood up to hug me. "If anything were to happen to you, I don't know what I'd do." He whispered burying his face into my neck.
I chuckled, "You're protecting me. Nothing will happen. Let's just get this over with."
He pulled away and kissed me. "Why are you with me?" He asked. "All these problems I cause and you're such an amazing..." he sighed. "Just why?"
I frowned, my fingers playing with the ends of his mask. "Because you make me feel safe, you're passionate, pretty damn good in bed." He laughed before nodding in agreement. "Maybe..." I shrugged. Say it Lillian because you know it's true. "...because... I love you..." just then, a tremendous weight whooshed off of my shoulders. There it was, out in the open.
Raph raised his brow in amusement and smiled, "Really?"
I nodded.
He then picked me up and spun me around, "Oh wow it feels good to hear that!" He laughed. "Alright, okay. You should go before I decide not to let you leave."
He let me go the presses a button so the door could open. When I stepped out it was almost like...a truck had hit me with what I had just said. Not only that, what was just about to happen. I have to tell Ian and my mother and my mothers boyfriend all who I'm dating because someone wants to kill me.
"20 minutes." Raph said from behind me.
I turned around and smiled, "Ok."
I don't know how I'm going to explain to Ian that Raph isn't human and that I'm in love with him. But it's worth a try.
I walked into my house finding my mother snuggled up to Barry on the couch watching tv. She paid the bill? They both turned to look at me and smiled. So...now they're together? At least they're both here I guess.
"Where's Ian?" I asked.
"Here!" He said, popping out from the kitchen. "I'm almost done with dinner. Barry is staying over again."
"We have to talk." I said. I'm just going to rip this thing off like a bandaid.
Ian raised a brow, "About?"
"I'm in trouble."
"Why?"
"Because of...Raphael."
Ian blinked, "You're boyfriend? Why did you guys fight or something?"
"No. Ian, could you just stop cooking for a sec I need to talk to everyone." I ordered. "This is serious."
Barry cleared his throat before standing, "I can leave if this is a family matter..."
"No, you can help. Sit," I said, going over to the tv and shutting it off. My mother protested. "Please, mom just listen."
Ian came over wiping his hands with a paper towel, "Whats this about?"
"Okay, what I'm about to say shouldn't leave this room. This is between us three." I stared at all of them, but especially at Barry. "I know you're some big whatever in the NYPD but I'm begging you not to tell anyone about this please."
Barry straightened, crossing his arms over his chest. "I'm not sure I can promise that, Lillian."
"Well you need to. Because if you don't, I'll never forgive you. In fact I'll hate you."
Barry sighed, "Are you selling drugs or in a gang or something?"
Ian snorted, "You better not. I'll whoop that ass."
I shook my head, "No. But I am in danger."
"Like...?" Barry asked.
"There are a group of...ninjas who may or may not be coming for me either to take me or to kill me." I said as slowly as I could.
There was a moment of silence, everyone seeming to process what I had just said. Then the silence was broken by laughter. I frowned while they continued. I guess it does sound far fetched.
Ian wiped his eyes, "You had me worried there."
I grunted, "I'm not fucking joking!"
Ian pointed at me, suddenly angry, "What did I say about the language?"
"I'm serious. These people are dangerous. They tried to capture April but she managed to get away and now they want me. I ran into one of them at the grocery store. Her name is Karai. She's-"
"Lilly, if you're being serious," Barry started. "Then let's go down to the police station and fill out-"
"I can't do that Barry." I said.
"Why not?"
"Because, I can't fucking do that."
"Lillian, he's only trying to help." My mother said. "You don't have to snap at him. If it's as serious as you say it is, then we should go to the police station."
"I said no." I growled.
Ian chuckled, "Lil'," he shook his head. "What does this have to do with Raphael? Is he in this gang?"
"No but...in order to get to him they want me."
"Why do they want to get to him?"
"Because of his dad." Before Ian asked me his next question, I pulled out my phone to search for pictures of the guys. "It's a long story. This girl Karai, who's like some great ninja or whatever, thinks that Raph's dad killed her mother when in reality, her actual dad is Raph's dad. Master Splinter... But she was raised by this guy who calls himself the Shredder, who is the actual murderer of Karai's mother. Karai doesn't want to believe that Master Splinter is her actual father."
"Lilly, you need to slow down." My mother said. "You're making no sense."
"If this is all true, I don't think you should be getting involved with all this matter." Barry said. "If these people are trying to kill you maybe-"
"Barry, I'm not leaving Raph. He can protect me because he's a ninja too." I gave Barry my phone when I found a picture of Raph. "One thing I gotta let you in on, Raph is not really human."
Barry stared in both awe and confusion at the phone. My mother looked at it for a moment before gasping. Ian was just as quiet as Barry was.
"What the hell is that thing?" My mother yelled.
"Raphael,"
Ian shook his head, "That's not fucking funny Lillian. This is fake right?"
Barry handed me the phone, "No, it's not." He stood up and began to pace in front of me.
"You can't be dating that...thing!" My mother yelled.
"I am." In fact I'm in love with him and we can't keep our hands off of each other but I'm going to spare these details from my family.
"So he is a...mutant?" Barry asked.
I blinked, taken a back from his question. "Yes... How-"
"Ever since the invasion, more and more people are reporting sighting of mutant creatures roaming the city. It's gotten so common that we started… Well I'm…not supposed to be talking about this out of fear it'll cause the public to worry but..." he stopped pacing and placed a hand on my shoulder. "I believe you."
I smiled.
"Wait so... Let me wrap my head around this." Ian began. "You're dating a mutant, who father is in some type of gang war with whoever this Shredder guy is and because of that you're being hunted? Either something is missing or I'm confused."
"Raph and his brothers are ninjas too who not only fight this Shredder dude, but stopped the Krang from invading."
Barry shook his head, "The military said they-"
"Nope! That was my boyfriend." I said proudly.
Ian scoffed, "Don't call him that. You two are not dating. That's...that's bestiality. That's against the law and the word of God."
I rolled my eyes, "Really Ian?"
"Yes! It's-"
"Disgusting!" My mother stood up. "What? Are you that desperate to find love that you literally settle on the next...thing!?"
My eyes widened at her comment. Desperate? Me? I love my mom with all my heart but has she seen a mirror lately. I mean she's the one who told me she can't be happy unless she's with someone. If Raph were to leave me, yeah I'd be crushed but I wouldn't feel the need to jump on the next guy who complimented my shoes or some shit.
Ian shook his head, "Now whatever shit he has he's passed it on to you and now people want to kill you. I mean, what the fuck Lillian?!"
"Excuse me, but I didn't expect to be dragged into some 16 year old vendetta but do you think I can back out now?"
"No! That's my point!"
Barry put his hands up, "Well now the point is to keep Lilly safe."
"Yeah, and I know how." My mother said, grabbing my phone out of my hand. "By cutting off every single freak you know." She stopped, "Did they give you this phone?"
I went to grab my phone but she dodged my hand, "Mom."
"Oh god, I can't even look at this picture." She gagged. "I'm throwing this away."
I crossed my arms over my chest, "No you won't."
"Yes I will,"
"Fine!" I snapped. "T-Phone, self-destruct." I ordered my phone.
"What ar-" was all my mother could say before my phone began to spark and smoke in her hand, causing her to drop it onto the floor. She looked at me, "What..."
"What the hell was that!?" Ian shouted running to the kitchen before running back over to my phone to pour a glass of water on it.
Man...I did not want to continue this conversation.
Thirty minutes later...
I opened the door to find April and Casey standing there. I sighed, "They here?" I asked.
April nodded, "Waiting for you."
My mother and Ian had finally stopped yelling at me and now were just either crying or just not talking to me. Barry was consoling my mother, trying to convince her that now of this had to do with they way she raised me.
I sighed, "Come in if you dare. I'll go get Raph." I went over to my room and over to my window, climbing out when I no one was there. I walked up the fire escape and found all four turtles standing there. I chuckled, "Everyone has to wait their turn. Raph's going first." I held out my hand and Raphael grabbed it. "It's chilly, so you can just wait in my bedroom until I come get you."
Raph and I walked into my room, "Did you tell them-"
"I told them everything I even showed them a picture on my phone. Now my mom won't stop crying, and Ian won't talk to me. I had to destroy my phone." I sighed.
"Why?"
"Because my mom wouldn't give it back." I turned around before we left my room. "Raph, listen...nothing they say will change my feelings about you. You know I..."
He smiled, "I know."
"And I'm sorry..."
He blinked, "Why?"
"My mother hates you completely. I knew this would happen-"
Raph shushed me, "Lets just get this over with."
I nodded. Walking out of my room I told Raph to stay where he was and wait for me to call him. "Ian, mom... You two need to listen to me." Ian said nothing while my mother just rested her head on Barry's shoulder. "You're pissed, fine. Be pissed. But my life is in danger. So you can be mad, or you can calm down and try and help me." My voice began to shake. "You're not the only one who's pissed. I'm pissed, I'm terrified and you two being mad at me only because I like Raph, it's bullshit."
Ian glared at me, but I stared back at him, tears threatening to fall. "Bullshit." I repeated. "You either be mad because I'm dating him, or help me."
Ian walked over to me, his angry stare morphed into one of sadness when he saw the tears in my eyes. He sighed heavily, shaking his head. When he looked over to his right, he saw Raph standing in the hallway. His hand protectively shot out in front of me, "Jesus...He's real." He said breathlessly.
Raph slowly walked into the living room.
Barry stopped comforting my mom then straightened in his seat. My mother lifted her head then quickly gasped and covered her mouth.
"Ian...Mom...This is Raphael." I moved around Ian to walk over to Raphael, holding his hand. I didn't want to be overly affectionate if I'm being honest, because I didn't want to piss of Ian more. But I knew if I didn't, Raph would feel bad.
Unfortunately, I made the wrong decision in grabbing his hand. Raph frowned, pulling his hand away from mine. "Um... I don't...think-"
"What..." Ian stuttered. "What are you?"
"I'm a turtle." Raph said with a nervous smile.
"You're a freak." My mother said.
Before I could open my mouth Raph looked at me and shook his head. "Don't." He whispered. Damnit, I knew he was going to say something like that.
Barry stood up from my mom, coming over to Raph eyeing him in suspicion and awe. He hesitantly held out his hand, "Raphael,"
Raph blinked in shock, as did I. Barry is acting so calm it's fucking weird. I need to know who he was and why he was so cool with meeting a mutant. Raph took his hand.
Ian watched both of them, "God this is so fucking weird..." Ian ran his hands through his hair. "I can't...wrap my head around the fact that..."
"He's real?"
"That and... You're dating him? Lillian, why...would you do this to yourself, I mean..." he shook his head.
"Do what?"
My mother stood up, pointing at Raph, "That is not something you date, that belongs in a zoo or a science lab!"
My eyes widened, "Mom!" Raph held out his hand to stop me but I pushed it away. "Raph has been there for me when you weren't!"
"It doesn't matter. He's not human!"
"And your boyfriend was?!"
"Yes! What kind of a question is that?"
"No! He wasn't! A human doesn't do the things he did. How many beating did both of us have to go through before you decided it was time to fight back? And when you did fight back, who changed?" I yelled. "No one! And you still stayed with him..."
Barry snapped his head around to look at my mom, "Aniya, you didn't tell me anything about beatings..."
"Yes, beatings. He wouldn't hit me as much as her but even when he did I could count how many times she came to my rescue on one hand." I know I shouldn't be saying all of this in front of April, Casey and Barry but if we're going to go off on who's more human than who, outer appearances don't fucking matter.
"Wait, you knew about her being abused by this man? And you still stayed?" Ian asked.
"Now who's desperate." I growled at her.
"Lilly, stop...please..." Raph whispered behind me.
I just ignored him.
"Aniya, how could you do this?" Ian asked.
My mother glared at Ian, "This isn't about me. This is about her and her future!"
"I won't have a future if you guys don't focus in what we have to do. People are after me."
"Because of this!" My mother snapped, grabbing my hand and pulling me away from Raph. "Get away from him."
Ian sighed, grabbing my hand. "Look, let's bring this back around you, but..." he looked up at Raph. "Later, I'm going to talk to the both of you because if there is something here, we have to go through the rules."
Raph nodded.
My mother scoffed, "Are you serious!? You're okay with this?!"
Ian sighed, "Uh...no. No I'm..." he looked up at Raph then at me. Ian sighed, "Aniya, I don't like it anymore that you do but when I asked her about her boyfriend I could tell she was happy."
"Oh bullshit!"
"It's not bullshit, I am happy." I said.
My mother scoffed, throwing her hands in the air. "I can't...I can't even look at him. I can't even be...here." She promptly turn, "I have to take a walk." She said before exiting.
I sighed, that was exactly what I thought would happen. My mother freaking out but I expected her to faint not run out the door. I looked over at Raph who mouthed the word 'sorry', I just shook my head.
Barry sighed, "I have to go after her." He gave Ian a pat on the shoulder. "I will give you anything you need. Just let me know what we're going to do."
Ian nodded, "Thanks." He looked over at April and Casey. "You two knew about this?"
"So…what are we going to do?" I asked the room.
Ian looked to be deep in thought. He looked around the room, at every single turtle that he was now faced with. After Ian got used to Raph, sorta, I let all the guys come out and tell him what the situation was. He was mad, I know it because he made it clear to everyone, including Raph, that he did not want me in this situation every five minutes. "Lillian," he said gently. "You can't see him for at least two or three weeks."
"What?" I asked. "No! We just started-"
"Okay," Raph interrupted.
My eyes widened, "What? Raph, but-"
Raph turned to me, the angry look in his eyes shut me up. "I told you I'd do anything to keep you safe. If not seeing you is going to keep you safe then...I won't see you. It'll be for a couple of weeks. Two or three. That's not long..."
Damnit, I hated this! Staying away from Raphael was the one thing I didn't want to do but the one thing I knew was going to happen. I fucking hate this girl, whoever she is. I mean, a couple weeks ago I wasn't allowed to see Raph. Now I have to start all over again? This fucking sucks it's like I'm always getting punished.
Ian nodded, "And if this...girl, whoever she is, gets Lillian at school?"
"April and Casey will be there." Leo said. "April has been practicing the same martial arts we have. Casey's also a...fighter. They'll be with her."
Ian looked at April and Casey before shutting his eyes, I could tell he didn't like that one bit. "Lillian, I'm going to drop you off to and pick you up from school from now on."
"But-"
"That isn't up for discussion nor is it a question. I'm telling you, entendido?" He said harshly.
I sighed again, and nodded.
"If this girl shows up at my home, and I see her I will defend Lilly any that I can. I don't care what it means, I will do anything." Ian growled. I think we all knew what he meant.
"You can't just ki-"
Raph stood up, "Okay,"
"Raph, that's Sensei's daughter." Leo yelled.
Raph turned towards Leo, "No, Leo. She's threatened us, she's threatened Sensei and she's even attacked April. This time, she's threatening Lilly. She did this to herself."
"Sensei would never-"
"I am not Splinter." Raph snapped. "And I am not arguing with you on this. Yell at me at home but, if it will keep her safe, we are going to do anything and everything. Period."
We all sort of jumped back. For some reason when Ian implied that he was going to kill Karai if necessary, it didn't hit us as hard until the same thing came out of Raph's mouth. I guess he wasn't kidding when he said he'd kill someone for me. Awe...?
Ian nodded, "Then that's the plan. Minimal contact until further notice. If this thing doesn't die down, I don't want Lillian around you people. End of discussion."
Everyone's eyes widened, but I was the only one that protested. "No. Absolutely not. Ian, you can't just do that, they're my friends."
"And they got you into this mess. This is to keep you safe, not to punish you. If these people really are as evil as you guys made them seem then no. I don't want you seeing Raph, I don't want you seeing April or Casey. I don't want you near them. End. Of discussion." He looked around the room to see anymore protests.
April stood, "Ian, please don't do this."
Ian shook his head, "I'm not going to apologize for doing everything I can to keep Lilly safe. If anything changes let me know immediately, I will give you my number. But if not, I don't want her near trouble."
I was so angry. But I couldn't find the words to speak out against him. If I were to speak, nothing but a broken voice would come out. I wanted to yell at Ian, I wanted to tell him he wasn't my father, he wasn't my older brother, he just can't dictate my life, who I talk to and who I don't. He can't do that! But again, I couldn't say that because although he wasn't my father or brother I still see him as one. But that doesn't mean I can't cry.
When I looked at Raph, I could see that he did not like that plan at all. But after he closed his eyes and sighed, I knew he agreed with Ian. He turned to me and grabbed my hand, "I'm sorry," I shook my head. "But if that has to happen-"
"No! No," I yelled. "Ian, you can't do this."
Ian took a minute, looking at our hands. He came up to me and grabbed my shoulders, "Listen babe, I know...you care for him. I can tell he cares for you as well." He almost forced himself to say. "You're happy with him, I can see that. But, if you're in trouble, and that girl wants them, I'd rather they have them than you. I grew up around trouble and eventually, you're involved whether you like it or not. I am not going to let anything happen to you. This isn't a punishment."
"Yes it is..." I said softly. I felt Raph squeeze my hand.
"Lillian, I've never lied to you. As much as...him being that bothers me, I want you to be happy. But I want you to be safe more." Ian whispered, lifting my chin. "I know you're going to miss him."
I rolled my eyes, "Its not just him, Ian. It's April, it's Mikey, it's Donnie... I'm going to miss them all because they're my friends. My only friends."
Ian sighed, "You not seeing them may not even happen."
Donnie cleared his throat, "Lilly, if I may..." he said, stepping towards us. Ian glared at him for a moment before relaxing. "We are close to convincing Karai that her father is in fact Master Splinter. So...the two weeks may not even happen."
"Nothing is for sure. Especially with Karai, Don, you know that." Raph said.
"We don't though. Call me crazy, but as soon as we told her everything she was told was a lie, there was a twinge of doubt in her eyes. She could be coming around soon." Donnie said.
Ian shrugged, "Maybe. Pray."
I rolled my eyes once again, "What good is praying going to do?"
"You never know until you try." He said. "Now... Say goodbye. We have to go find your mother."
We all walked to out roof top, Raph and I following everyone as we slowly walked out of my room and onto the fire escape. We were all quiet, it was like they were walking me to jail. I gave every last one of them a hug.
When I went to give April a hug she shook her head, "I'm going to see you at school. And if I hug you, I'm going to cry."
"Same with me." Casey said. "About seeing you at school, not about crying…"
I sighed before turning to Raphael, I didn't want to say goodbye to him.
He turned around to glare at everyone, they all got the picture and gave us some space. "Come on, guys. Let's get a heads start." Leo said.
Raph turned back to me, grabbing both my hands. "Remember when Leo was mad at us and you said you didn't want to break up a family. You said you'd do anything just to keep up together, like breaking up with me for it."
"Yes, but this is not the same. Ian is forcing you-"
"He's not, Lillian. I'm with him. If Karai lays a finger on you, I'll never be able to forgive myself. I'd have to-"
"Stop… I understand." I felt tears spill out of my eyes.
He kissed my hand and sighed, "I know… I hate it just as much as you do." He wrapped his arms around my waist, drawing me in and resting his forehead on mine. "But I can't let anything happen to you." He whispered.
I cupped his face, "I hate this."
He laughed, "But it's for your own safety."
"I guess…"
"Remember though," He cupped my face and placed a lingering kiss on my lips. I whimpered into his mouth, my hands desperately grabbing onto his wrists praying he wouldn't let go. I'm glad I told him I loved him, because I'm that moment I knew that I was head over heals for him. When he pulled away I shook my head, pulling him back in for a deeper kiss, anything to just make him stay for a little longer. But he pulled away once more and I let out a sob, "You love me." He wiped my tears with his thumb before giving me a sweet quick kiss. "And I love you. It's just two weeks."
"Yeah...okay..."
"No more crying. I'll see you soon."
"Promise?"
"I put that on my life." He said before giving me one of the tightest hugs he's ever given me.
My mind was yelling at me, 'calm down you emotional bitch, it's only two weeks' but my heart was beating so loud I couldn't think straight. I knew it was two weeks, but I felt like it would be longer than that. "Okay..."
"I promise." He said, kissing my head. "I'll see you."
"Okay..."
He pulled away from the hug and kissed my hands, "I love you." He said, then he was gone.
"Okay..." was all I said before I hugged myself and went back inside.
Ian finally met Raph! and the rest of the family... I think it went well. Next chapter: Karai says hi!
