Wait… another chapter? Well, here goes nothing.

Chapter four: It's just scary ok?

Feeling more well rested than she had in a while, Sam Puckett's eyelids shuddered open to a brightly lit room. She felt strangely warm and comforted, and realized why when she looked up, and saw that she had been laying on the one and only Freddie Benson's chest.

She sat up a bit, but not too much so she would not disturb the comforting arm around her. She lay there, studying his nothing less than perfect features, as she described them to herself. Her heart melted, and huge butterflies formed in her stomach. Suddenly, she stopped. She was acting as if they were still dating, when that was the last thing she wanted to do. She didn't want to get hurt, because she knew it. She knew, that she was falling for him again. Falling deeply, madly in love, she hated this feeling.

The feeling of not being in control.

For Sam had been hurt too many times. Never by him, all she had done was hurt herself by breaking up with him. Sam Puckett had spent years training herself. Training herself never to trust someone completely as all they were going to do was break her.

She knew she would never get hurt by Freddie though. He was so good, too good for her.

So maybe that was the reason she gently lifted his arm off herself, setting it down on his bed. Taking one last, longing look at him watching him stare and sort of… whimper? In his sleep, she watched him curl into a ball. Taking deep, calming breaths she quietly strode over to the sleeping bag they had set out last night.

It was meant for Sam, meant for her to take the bag on the floor as he lay in the luxury of his own bed. But he had offered to take it.

Ripping her thoughts away from him and mentally cursing herself, she curled into the sleeping bag.

When Sam eventually woke up, the first thing she saw, was Freddie kneeling over her, softly saying her name. The first thing she heard, was… rain, and of course Freddie's voice. Sam sincerely hoped that the rain would not turn into thunder, as she was extremely scared of it. Freddie had already seen her vulnerable enough, he had the power to completely tear down her tough girl façade.

After they had grabbed a quick breakfast, they decided to finish the movie they had started the night before, before Sam had fallen asleep. They sat down on the bed and Sam did something that surprised them both. She scooted a little closer to Freddie.

Freddie was shocked, until he figured out what she was doing. She was still scared, but more scared that he had seen her soft side, scared of what he now thought of her.

BOOM. That was when the first roll of thunder decided to happen.

Freddie saw Sam jerk her head to the window and a flash of sudden fear cross her eyes.

She may not know it, but Freddie knew of Sam's fear towards thunder. He had always noticed… always noticed the quick flash of fear that nobody else did, how she quickly made herself scarce. He decided not to comment on it for the time being though.

Another roll of thunder, bigger, louder, the rain grew louder as a flash of lightening crossed the sky. The day was dark outside, almost giving the impression of night. Sam whimpered, and quickly stifled it, curling into a small vulnerable ball again. Freddie reached out, and pulled her on to his lap, hugging her, and protecting her from the storm. She curled into Freddie's chest, giving a stifled sob. Freddie tightened his grip on her, feeling hot tears escape against his chest. He rubbed her back, whispering comforting words.

Little did Freddie know, the reason Sam was crying was not completely caused by the fear of storms, although that certainly played a big part. Maybe, it was because she felt, that she could never be his.

Maybe, Freddie did know. Maybe, he felt the exact same way.

Apologies for the fluff and vulnerability, (p.s. I use the word vulnerable a lot…) but it's not going to stop.

If you like these kind of fics, I strongly recommend all of KrisTheFangirl's fics. She hasn't written one in years, which is sad, but her existing fics are certainly very enjoyable.

Also, I'm rewatching Victorious, so maybe some Victorious fics?
