Part Two
"I think we need to get to the asylum NOW." Sora insisted as he looked at the others. "Roxas, like...don't eat anything, don't TOUCH anything, just...get in a room and lock the door and lock the windows!" He reasoned.
With that being said, the friends soon got into the gummi ship and headed off toward the River Side Mental Hospital.
Many hours later, they reached their destination. The building itself looked unkempt with much of the brick seemed to have begun to grow moss and grasses from lack of care. Around the property of the asylum were many 'Do Not Enter' and 'No Trespassing' signs along the metal fencing of the building.
Kairi shivered as she could immediately sensed dread as she gazed up at the building.
"Something's not right," she murmured. "I don't like this.."
"This place looks really abandoned alright..." Sora murmured as they made their way inside, brushing aside cobwebs, the entire place seemed to be creaking and groaning.
"Let's try and find her quickly." Riku reasoned. "Sora, how about giving Roxas a call?"
"Good idea." Sora said, getting out his Gummiphone.
As Sora called Roxas, there was a crackling as he picked up. Roxas was pale and seemed he had been throwing up.
"Guys.." he croaked. "I d-don't.."
"Roxas! What's wrong!?" Sora asked in concern.
"All I w-wanted.. W-was a caramel a-apple.."
Roxas could feel tears forming as he turned toward the barricaded door as a voice rang out in the background, "Who took my toe!?"
"P-please! NO! Please I d-didn't mean to!" Roxas begged.
There was a loud clatter as the phone landed on its side. Now sitting at a low angle, they could see Roxas being forced to the floor by an unseen force.
"No! STOP!"
Roxas let out a scream of horror as he was pulled from view to disappear beneath the guest bed in Master Yen Sid's tower, the only evidence of him having been there, being the nail marks Roxas had left behind.
"ROXAS!"
The screen of Roxas's Gummi phone flickered before disconnecting Sora's call.
"...oh no..." Sora whispered quietly as he looked at the others.
"We gotta find this girl FAST." Riku insisted. "Obviously, we shouldn't split up. BAD idea. TERRIBLE idea."
"Y-Yeah, you never want to split up." Kairi agreed. "Let's all stick together."
Everyone soon nodded in agreement.
The six of them soon looked around to find they were in a decaying hallway with millions of old medical papers scattered on the floor, rusted hospital beds, and wheelchairs dotted here and there. The black and white tiles below them were cracked, covered in dust and parts of the ceiling. The painted walls were now peeling away from the years of neglect. Sunbeams leaking through the tiny windows were the only source of light. Soon, Sora spoke up.
"Hey guys, I think I see two different set of footprints."
"Huh?"
Riku and the others looked at the floor, seeing the prints led deeper into the the asylum. As they followed the prints, they found they would have to step over some of the rubble, broken light bulbs, and around the wheelchairs and tables that laid about.
Eventually they reached a door, the sign above it reading "Room 219: Dr. George Mason."
They could hear voices just down the hallway.
"Let's check inside." Sora said, holding up a finger to his lips, giving the "Shhh, quiet" gesture. he reached for the door and began opening it up.
There was a suddenly loud clattering noise as one of the rusty old wheelchairs had been disturbed!
Xion spun and used her Keyblade to send a ball of light to sail across the hallway, causing the two figures to jump back in shock. It was then they recognized the dark silver haired man and girl with sandy blonde hair.
"Ienzo! Naminé!" Riku breathed. "What're you both doing here?"
"When you had not arrived at the castle, Naminé and I had come looking for you." Ienzo explained. "Our search for you had brought us here."
Sora and the others were shocked. It was at that moment that Sora noticed something was off about Naminé.
"Naminé.. What happened to your cheek?"
The blonde subconsciously covered her left cheek with her hand.
"O-oh.. I got bit by a spider.." she muttered, turning away.
The others all looked at each other, and then Sora quickly opened up the book. "Is it writing a new chapter?" Kairi inquired as they all crowded around to see.
A new story, "The Red Spot", had begun to write itself on the pages with Naminé as the main character.
"Guys? W-what's wrong?" asked Naminé concerned.
"Naminé, you've...you've got a story in here." Sora read aloud.
"And sh-she's got a red spot on her cheek!" Riku gasped, pointing at Naminé's cheek.
"W-what?" Naminé squeaked out.
She felt a slight pinch in the spot on her cheek and winced as it was now starting to hurt.
"W-what's.. H-happening.." she whimpered.
"Can we cast Cure to fix this?" Sora asked.
"No, no, it's a STATUS EFFECT, cast...cast Esuna! Get the healing items out!" Riku reasoned.
Sora began to do so, reaching into his pockets to get the items. At the same time, the bite seemed to have begun to itch and had begun to grow in size, causing Naminé to subconsciously scratch at it. However, it wasn't the the bite itself that was itching.. She could feel it underneath her skin as if something was moving about beneath it. Naminé began to get a sick feeling as the itching and pain became more intense. As she felt the bump in her skin break let out a scream of pain, clutching at her face. Dark liquid trickled from the now open sore in her cheek as Kairi and the others reeled back in horror at what they saw.. Spiders—thousands of them—started to gush from the open wound in Naminé's cheek. They poured out of her like a living shadow, their bodies moving in rapid unison as they scuttled over her entire body!
