Chapter 13
~One week later~
Logan and Victor were happy relaxing in the deck chairs as the rest of the family and guests of the barbeque were enjoying themselves as well.
Victor's older children, Thomas and Elizabeth, played with their younger brother, Colby, their cousin Luke, and new friend Darlene, while Susan grilled Marie when the couple would start for their second baby.
Marie laughed, saying that dealing with Luke, school, and finding a nanny they could trust was more than a handful for now, while she shot hinting glances at Vanessa.
Vanessa laughed. "Well...hate to break it to you, but my schedule is going to be pretty full with doctor appointments for the next nine months."
The beer sprayed from Logan's mouth. "Are you serious? That's great guys! I'm really happy for you."
"Happy enough to let me win a few pots at the fights, Mr. King of the ring?" Wade smirked.
"In your dreams, asshole." Logan chuckled.
Victor shook his head. "You know, Jimmy, you could leave all that cage fighting behind if you'd just take that teaching job the Professor offered. He would pay you more than what you make now."
Logan shook his head. "I don't know. I agreed that I would help out with his team if he needs me, but relocating to New York right now just isn't a good idea. I might reconsider after Marie gets her degree." He glared at Marie. "And you are going back to school in 2 weeks...no arguments!"
Marie huffed. "Logan, we've been through this, I'm not going back until we find a nanny that we know we can trust. If it comes down to it, I'll work nights while you work days and we'll take shifts with Luke until he's old enough to start preschool. I can always go back then."
The amber circled Logan's eyes. "Marie, I told you-"
Sophia and Dave came out carrying plates of food for the party. Sophia scowled at the arguing couple. "¡Silencio! Ustedes dos. Podría tener una solución." (Silence! Both of you. I might have a solution.)
All eyes turned towards her. Logan waited a moment. "Ok...so let's hear it."
Sophia took a moment to set down the tray and smooth her hair. Clasping her hands in front of her, she looked shyly at Logan, knowing what she was about to say would be the biggest favor she had ever asked of him. "My sister, she in Mexico, her little Meja...daughter, she is 18 now and want to come to America, go to school. She need a job when she get here, but need a sponsor and..."
Logan cut her off. "And going the traditional route, through a corporation for a sponsor, could take up to a year."
Sophia nodded. "Si. But if she get job in a home, maid or nanny, it not take long. She can be nanny in day while Mrs in school, and then she go to school at night."
Logan thought about it for a moment. "But when will she study? Get some sleep?"
"She study when Mijo is taking nap, and I help her in the day too if she need, but I promise, I still do all my work."
"I don't doubt that for a minute, Sophia. Marie? What do you think?" Logan raised a brow.
"I don't know...does she have experience with babies?"
Sophia nodded passionately. "Si, si! She is oldest and take care of her brothers and sisters since she 10! She feed them bottle, give bath, change diaper. When they older, she help make breakfast and get them to school, and at night, she help cook dinner too."
"And her English?" Marie asked.
"More good than mine." Sophia smiled.
Logan rubbed at his chin. "Where would she stay? Does she have an apartment lined up?"
Sophia shrugged. "She stay with me. Is ok."
Logan shot a look at Sophia. "Is not ok. Sophia, I've seen your apartment, it's barely big enough for you! I've told you many times over the years that I'd convert the basement into an apartment for you, but you refuse. Actually, the basement would be big enough for both of you. She will stay here, and you can too."
"No, no mister, I already ask too much. If you let her work, she stay with me, is ok."
Marie shook her head as she saw the look on her husband's face and knew where his mind was going. "Sophia, the condition of Logan and I hiring your niece is that she is a live-in nanny. In fact, the condition of your continued employment is that you will move in as well...and take a raise."
Logan folded his arms across his chest and gave a hard nod. "Exactly! Those are our terms, a pay raise and both you and your niece will occupy the basement. I'll call a contractor first thing in the morning. Not negotiable."
Sophia chuckled. "Well mister Logan...when you say like that, I have no choice but to say si!"
Logan smiled widely. "I can fill out the paperwork in the morning and fax it to the immigration office, but it still might take a couple of months, you should let your niece know that."
Dave wrapped an arm around Sophia's shoulders. "Actually, I have a friend in the immigration office who can help speed up the process. Rosa could get her visa in a week or two."
Logan cocked a brow. "Uh-huh. You two already have this cooked up before you asked me?"
Both Dave and Sophia chuckled shyly. "Well...we figured you would want a nanny you could trust, and when I heard the recording between Sophia and her sister talking about what they could do to help Rosa come here to get her education, well...I kind of suggested the nanny thing. After speaking with Rosa several times, I believe she'll be a perfect fit for you, and the plus side, she doesn't have anything against mutants."
Victor and Logan eyed each other a moment, before Logan turned back to Dave, noting his arm still around Sophia. "Um...are we going to see more of you around here?" Waving a finger between the pair.
Sophia smiled as she looked to the ground and Dave's face turned a tomato red. "Well...I sure hope so."
Logan rolled his eyes. "Oh good lord. Alright, alright! Sophia, call your sister and tell her Rosa will be coming to America. Dave, go work some magic with your friend, and you better take Sophia to the fanciest restaurant tomorrow night...or else!" Logan's claws on one hand extended in a mock threat as everyone laughed.
~Later that night~
Logan and Marie were woken to the special phone that Charles had given to Logan.
Marie smirked as she climbed out of bed, hearing Logan. "Uh-huh. I understand. Where? Texas? Ok, I'll be ready to go. 10 minutes? Seriously? Damn that plane of yours can move! Oh, I see." He chuckled as he hung up the phone.
Marie came back with his black leather uniform. "You see what?"
"Um...the plane is already enroute."
"Oh. Well should I ask what you need to go to Texas for?" Marie asked, giving a good look at her naked husband, reluctant to allow him to cover that bod.
"Um...just gonna go kick somebody's ass a little. Be home in time for breakfast. You gonna give me my uniform or gawk at me?"
"I'm thinking." She replied playfully.
Logan smirked. "Tell ya what, you let me get dressed now, and I'll make sure to get home before breakfast, then you can have the fun of ripping this off me. Deal?" He wagged his brows at her.
He rushed to dress, giving Marie a kiss. Marie suddenly yanked him hard against her, giving a passionate, sensual kiss while rubbing her hand at the front of his pants. "Something to make sure you hurry home."
Logan took a shuddering breath. "No fair, darlin'. These tight pants don't hide a hard-on very well. Damn, you really are into leather, aren't ya."
Marie giggled. "You better get a move on if you're going to catch your ride in time. Don't get shot!" She gave him a playful swat to his behind.
He let out a little growl. "No promises, babe. Love you, mate, be home soon."
