The Mages Of The Leaf
AN: I'm still alive bitches muahahaha… but fortunately for me I still have a job in these trying times. Unfortunately i still have a job in these trying times and it just got plain chaotic.
I also just found a better place to write this story so expect updates… erratic and spontaneous but updates no less.
So thanks to those who are sticking around and for those who keep reviewing, it keeps me motivated. So enough rambles on with the chapter.

-Uzumaki household-
Naruto was just returning home from his office far more tired than he ever felt. His eyes barely remained open and he swore he could see doubles.
"Naruto are you ok?" the concerned filled voice of his mother brought him back to reality. As he turned her way he saw her sitting on the porch like she always does waiting for him to return to greet her son with a smile and a hug.
"Hey mom 'sigh' no im not ok since Anko and her team just arrived to tell me Tenzo was kidnapped by Kabuto and the fake Madara." Naruto told her while sitting with her and just slumped down the bench they had on the porch.
Anko and her team had returned just this afternoon after being gone for three days apparently they were being stalked and attacked all the way back to the port. Madara was relentlessly sending Zetsu after Zetsu trying to kill the three remaining shinobis so Naruto couldn't be informed.
Anko being exhausted was of no help, something she kneeled down in front of Naruto to beg for forgiveness in her failure to stop them from taking Tenzo. Naruto had forgiven her since he knew fighting Zetsu and this Madara was no easy feat so after getting their report he sent them to the hospital to be checked.
Naruto had also learned from a beaten and battered Neko that while Wendy and her teammates had no sense of a functioning team they had chemistry. The half assed win they had managed to pull from her shocked and disoriented moment wasn't half bad.
Naruto had smiled at that since she had also said that if they put that much effort into their training then by the end of the week they would be a well oiled machine. So for the last two days Neko had taken Wendy, Sarah and Trevor to the secluded forest west of Uzu to train making sure to bring Wendy back around evening to train with Shizune and now Tsunade.
Tsunade had instantly taken a liking to her and had taken it upon herself to teach Wendy how to use her super strength. When he asked her why she smiled sadly and said she would never allow someone close to her die ever again if she could prevent it.
"Did you hear that Wendy is very gifted in the medical field Shizune said that if she continues to learn at this pace then by the end of the week they will have nothing left to teach her… Tsunade also said that she is improving fast in her wind training and her other shinobi arts that she's teaching her." Kushina said, trying to take his mind off the war effort if only for a little bit.
"Yes I was able to take a peek today at her training while I ate a quick lunch with Mavis.
After that there was an uncomfortable silence between them both trying to find a new topic to discuss.
"Is there any news from Erza and Temari?" Kushina asked while looking at the moon in all its full moon glory.
"Temari is currently with Gaara helping promote a steady friendship with the other shinobis from the other villages while Erza is with the Tsuchikage taking his Granddaughters place as his bodyguard while his granddaughter makes her way here." Naruto told her while remembering how he made them promise to be extremely careful if he agreed to send them out too.
"So… four more days before you all have to move out?"
"Yes i'll be meeting with Gaara and Tsuchikage-dono so i'll see them both soon… Mavis will be waiting behind here until she is able to determine where the most optimal place to set up HQ is so she is able to get a message to everyone quickly."
"Don't worry Mira and me can hold down the fort while you four are away… remember that Tayuya and Konan still need to give me grandchildren."
Kushina reminded him while smiling at him and making him scratch the back of his head in embarrassment.
"I-I don't wish to send Wendy or the children out there but I know I must since I also see this as a fight for their future too so they also deserve to fight for it but…"
"You're a dad Naruto no father wishes for their child to fight in a war they know they won't be able to protect them all the time… just believe in her and try your hardest to end this war fast for her and all the children's sake ok." Kushina said while pulling him into a small yet lovingly motherly embrace.
"Thanks mom and you're right there is nothing I can do but believe in her and in the abilities we and others have bestowed on her and besides Fuu's going to be her sensei throughout this so i feel a little better."
With that they stayed silent just watching the stars and the moon shine in the sky letting the cool night air calm them and soothe them.
"Come let's head inside Mira has dinner waiting and you should spend as much time as you can with your children."
"Ok mom." As Naruto stood up he glanced once more to the sky and glared at the moon or more precisely at the ten tails body.
"Come on Naruto or you'll be eating cold soup." Kushina called out from the doorway while staring at her son's back while smiling, almost seeing Minato in his place.
"Coming." As he reached her he heard her say something that made him smile.
"You look so much like your father when he would look out at the village with such passion and love for it."
With that both smiled at each other and walked inside to find Mira placing the last bowl of soup for them.
"I hope you're hungry honey?" Mira said while smiling at him.
"Starving." After the delicious meal Naruto spent almost all night with his children from playing to reading them bedtime stories to just watching them sleep.
As he laid down in bed Mira hugged him tight while burying her face into his chest afraid of waking up and not finding him there.
"Promise me you and the others will come back safe?" Mira said in a weak voice.
"Even death wont be able to hold me from coming back to all of you or keep me from getting any of you back should he be stupid enough to take any of you from me." Naruto told her while hugging her close and kissing her head.
"I promise you that Mira and an Uzumaki…"
"...Never breaks their promise." Mira finished while snuggling up to him, more feeling relieved to hear him say it.
"Night Mira."
"Night darling."
-6 Days Later-
Right now Naruto and his men were making their way toward Suna at a steady pace trying to regroup with the Kazekage and the Tsuchikage and their men.
"Sir our scouts haven't picked up anything remotely strange on the path." One of Iwas transferred shinobi reported to him and the acting general from their respective villages.
"Very good. I want the scouts and the look outs to rotate every two hours and keep the sensors on the back line at all times. They are the only ones able to sense the Zetsu clones when they move through the ground and trees."
"Yes Sir!" With that the shinobi left to do as commanded. As he finished he looked around to see the acting general under his command and still was impressed by the men and women the other kages had sent.
To his right was Darui of the black lighting and A's right hand and ex-student to the third Raikage.
Further right was the Tsuchikage's own Granddaughter Kurotsuchi, a very skilled woman with an added bonus of wielding lime and lava release.
To his left was Ao the Mizukages most trusted man and her right hand while also being incredibly strong after all being given the title of Byakugan Killer wasn't just for show being one of the few to fight and best a Hyuga was impressive enough but to kill one well that was another story.
And from Suna was none other than old Kankuro, his very own make-up freak of a brother-in-law.
"So Uzukage-sama what are we supposed to do now?" Ao asked while looking at him with a serious face ready for anything.
"For now we keep on traveling until we regroup with the others in two days… Ao I know it might be uncomfortable but i need you to keep working with the Hyugas at the front of the camp to be our lead sensor and scout." Ao nodded at his words not complaining.
"Kankuro I need you to help the medical ninja make more poison antidotes and poison coated weapons… Darui, I need you with the main fighting force to be a heavy hitter. Should any of this 'Sasuke' show themselves as for you Kurotsuchi I need you to head over to the genin and act as a supervisor and try and teach them a little bit." Naruto told them, making them all nodded before he waved his hand, sending them off to sleep.
As they left Naruto looked over the map on a makeshift earth slab his conjured up with his Rinnegan abilities trying to see anyway to shorten the time and get there as soon as possible.
'I'm sorry Wendy for making you witness this dark moment in history. I just hope you can make it through it all safe and sound.' Naruto thought while glaring at the map.
-Team Fuu-
Wendy and her two teammates were currently sitting by a campfire while watching the embers fly off it. She was happy that Fuu was their sensei but she was also frightened at the thought of watching or even hearing that either one of them died in the coming fights.
"Wendy, Sarah, Trevor you three should go and get some sleep." Fuu told them while wearing her new Uzu Jonin flak jacket.
"R-right sensei." they all said in union while giving her a forced smile and heading towards their respected mats.
Soon they knew that things like tents or mats would no longer be a good idea as they would need to be on constant alert.
Fuu for her part watched them leave and sigh a very heavy sigh she herself didn't know she was holding.
"Before the only life i had to ever care for was my own but now I have to not only teach them to survive but also keep them alive through all this… I don't know if I'm ready for any of this." Fuu said while watching Kakashi sit where Trevor previously was.
"No one ever is ready for war Fuu but so long as you teach them to rely on each other and to never underestimate their opponent then they should be fine in the end."
"How can you be so calm about this? We are sending these kids to their deaths and we are to simply yes ok to all of this." Fuu said while clenching her fists and glaring at the fire trying to make it disappear from her gaze alone.
"Because this isn't my first war before this, I was in the third shinobi war under the tutelage of Naruto's father, the fourth Hokage… There I learned many things and saw many people I knew die for being reckless and overconfident in their skills from being praised as the prodigy of this or from being named the rookie of the years all of which meant nothing to the opponents they faced." Kakashi said while remembering those who thought that by being named the rookie of the year be it from a previous year or not they were naturally stronger than their opponents.
"I also was one of these people and I would've died if not for the help of the only man I could call my friend and rival at that time.., he was also the man who gifted me my Sharingan." Fuu looked at him and watched him touch the headband that covered his eye.
"He sounds like an amazing guy, Kakashi." Fuu told him honestly while smiling at him.
Kakashi for his part smiled back with his trademark U shaped eye smile.
"Do you have any regrets?" Fuu suddenly asked while looking at the sky.
"Hmm… yes." Kakashi answered while taking out this book and began to read it even when having such a serious conversion like this.
"So...:"
"I can't fix them as I am now seeing as most of my regrets involve some people who are already dead." Fuu looked sad at this but never took her eyes of the night sky.
"What about you?"
"The only regret i have is not running away from the village when the first shot appeared all those years ago… but then I wouldn't have met any of you so I guess I really don't have any."
After spending a few more minutes by the fire did they finally decide to head to bed while waving at each other good night.
-Two Days Later-
Naruto and his entourage had finally made it to the rondevu point and where all getting set up the medical ninja were helping set up the medical tents while the sensor ninjas were all scouting around to make sure they didn't get any surprise attacks.
"Naruto now that you have arrived i think we should start discussing our battle plans and getting everyone set up into three group one for each kage." Gaara said while looking at the huge table with a 3D accurate description of the battlefield all thanks to maps and first hand witnesses.
"You're right so what do you have so far?"
With that the Tsuchikage, Kazekage and the Uzukage began battle plans while they waited for the arrival of the Mizukage and the Raikage in another three days.
-Wendy-
Wendy was currently helping Sarah and Trevor gather supplies for them to have ready and to make sure they had enough weapons for the coming departure to the battlefield.
"Wendy do you have enough kunais and wire!?" Sarah yelled while grabbing some for herself.
"Yes I just need shurikens and paper bombs!"
"Paper bombs are over here!" Trevor yelled from behind them.
"Shurikens are here as well!" Trevor yelled again while grabbing some soon joined by Wendy and Sarah who started grabbing enough to fill their pouches.
"What else do we need you two?" Sarah asked while grabbing a stack of paper bombs.
"My father told me of a man named Asuma that uses special trench knives with his wind release so I would like some of those." Wendy said while remembering what her father said of those knives.
"Then to the blacksmith." Wendy nodded while the three left the weapon supply tent but not before noting down what they grabbed at the front desk.
As they walked to the blacksmith's tent they saw men and women running around getting ready, some bumping into them as they were in a hurry. They could see some of their classmates in other teams doing the same from gathering weapons to delivering messages to higher ups.
"Man this is so crazy… I mean a month ago I never would have been worried if tomorrow would be my last day instead I would be more worried if I passed the next test Iruka-sensei gave us but now I'm more worried about well everything from do I have enough weapons or am I strong enough." Trevor said while looking around at all his classmates stern looks.
Wendy also looked and waved at one other person she knew from her time in the medical academy. Both looked at each other and smiled tiny smiles at each other before said girl turned around to focus on her task.
"Yes I know what you mean but giving we made this team means we aren't frontliners but we're more of a support team I mean we have a medic, a tracker and me an interrogator." Sarah said while letting them know that with this team comp they didn't have to worry about a lot of fighting.
"No because this team is a support team we might be targeted more than the frontliner teams since without us the front liners are easy picking." Wendy informed them, making them frown and not say another word since she was right.
Just as the silence was getting unbearable they saw the blacksmith tent inview and picked up the pace.
"Hello Miss Tenten are you here!?" Wendy called out for the person her father said could always help her.
"Oh your Naruto's daughter huh? What can I help you with, Wendy right?" Tenten asked while cleaning a kunai before putting it in a pile of other kunais.
"Um, do you perhaps have some trench knives like Asuma's?"
"Hmm yes I believe we do. Why are you a wind user too like your old man?" Tenten teased while getting the knives and handing them over to her in their sheathes.
"Yes and well since i'm no good with mother Temari's fans father said this would be a better alternative." Wendy said while trying out the knives and making them glow with wind chakra and watching the blade hum.
"Well what about you two it's better to have a close range weapon in case an enemy gets too close." Tenten asked while putting her hands at her waist and waited for their answer.
"What do you recommend?" both asked, making Tenten grin.
-Four Days Later-
Everyone one was lined up at attention waiting for the Kages to make a speech now that the entire Shinobi Alliance was gathered. Naruto was looking out into the mass of ninja with his eyes landing on those he knew and to others he heard stories of.
"Well now that we are gathered the ninja need to hear from us to keep them motivated." A said while crossing his arms looking at the other kage.
"I believe the Uzukage should be the one to address them after all he is the one in charge right now." Mei said with a smile making Erza and Temari narrow their eyes at her but said nothing.
"It should only be natural." Onoki grin
'Sigh' "Fine I'll make a speech but don't expect anything grand from me." Naruto said while they all then walked out the mountain-like tower that the earth user had constructed as a base.
Naruto looked out over the people once more before thinking of what to say and once he found something he took a deep breath and began his speech.
"For those who don't know me allow me to introduce myself… My name is Naruto Uzumaki-Namikaze son of Minato Namikaze, the fourth hokage and the Yellow Flash of the leaf as well as the son of Kushina Uzumaki princess of the land of whirlpool and the Red Hot Blooded Habanero."
Naruto let them absorb the info and could already see many shocked faces while some who were smiling at him since they already suspected something or knew.
"As you all know we all face a common enemy this time around an enemy who wishes to destroy our way of life, one who doesn't care who he kills to get his way. I know many hold grudges against my father for the last war but i'm here not as his son but as one of you a shinobi asking you… no begging you to please lend me your strength to overcome this new enemy because he misunderstood his enemy as being weak when in reality we are not weak." Naruto continues while taking another deep breath.
"We are stronger than some lowly clones, we have stronger ideal than him, we all have a person we wish to protect while he has no one and that's what makes us stronger because the ones we love give us strength they give us hope so do not fight for us no fight for those you hold dear… FIGHT FOR YOUR FUTURE!"
With his speech finished everyone cheered while chanting his name over and over again.
"That was one mighty speech Naruto." Gaara said while putting his hand on his shoulder.
"I just hope I didn't seem too nervous." Naruto said while grabbing his pounding chest.
The other nodded in his direction in approval and acknowledgement of his speech.
"Now you all know where you must report to so on with it we will be moving out in two hours!" A then told all those gathered making a resounding 'YES SIR' be heard loud and clear.
"Well time to go Erza, Temari be careful you hear i will never allow you to die on me you hear." Naruto told them while walking up to them and kissing them.
Both girls smiled and accepted the kiss while shaking their head at his overprotectiveness.
"We promise we wont do anything to stupid and you know us Uzumakis." Temari told him with a grin, making Erza grin while finishing it for her.
"We never break our promises." Naruto smiled and nodded at them before heading over to Darui waiting for him to head over to their spot.
"Ready Uzukage-sama?" Darui asked while lazily leaning on the wall.
"Let's go."
-Uzu Forces-
As Naruto made it to his forces the other four generals were there waiting to depart once they saw both Darui and Naruto they stood up and gestured for the rest to do the same.
Taking one last look around Naruto nodded and looked forward to the direction of his forces destination.
"MOVE OUT!"
"YES SIR!"
With that thousands of ninja of different villages moved as one towards the battlefield ready to fight and die for their villages and for their loved ones.
-One Week Later-
Somewhere in the old fire country region we find a battle saturated with bodies and fertilized with blood.
"Fire style: Fire Dragon Jutsu!"
"Wind style: Great Breakthrough!"
"Did we get them!?" a young female voice rang out while looking around frantically.
"Stay sharp you two… Wendy, how are we doing over there?" a more mature female voice called to Wendy.
Wendy was currently administering first aid to two shinobis who had gotten ambushed by a few dozen Zetsus.
"Almost done in just five more minutes!" Wendy yelled back while her hand glowed green over one of the ninja's legs, healing his deep gash.
Around her Wendy could see no less than six dead ninjas; she knew it wasn't her fault for not making it in time but it still hurt to look.
"Fuu-sesnsei more are coming!" Trevor yelled out while watching what looked like sixty maybe eighty Zetsus running towards them.
"Shit Trevor supply the water I'll put the lighting!"
'Water style: Water Geyser!"
"Lighting style: Electromagnetic Murder!"
With that they were able to take out thirty of them and when the rest kept coming Sarah slammed her hand down calling out her jutsu.
"Earth style: Rise Spears!"
"Wendy!" Sarah screamed out while trying to maintain her jutsu.
"I-I'm done!" Wendy screamed out while both Trevor and Fuu jumped back and gave both ninjas a food pill giving them enough stamina to start retreating.
"Sarah move!"
"SKY DRAGON ROAR!"
Wendy blew the remaining Zetsu away buying them time to run away to try and regroup with others.
"That was too close." Trevor said while tree hopping the others merely nodded.
"Yes and Wendy did a good job on staying focused under pressure there really good job." Fuu said while smiling at her, making her smile.
"Y-yea sorry about screaming at you like that." Sarah said while matching Wendy and scratching the back of her head in embarrassment.
"N-no thank you for protecting me for so long Sarah." Wendy smiles back, making them both grin at each other.
"Hey there need help?" The voice made them all look to see a group of about a hundred ninja call out to them who were also tree hopping.
"Yes we have two injured ninja and we are running low on supplies." Fuu said while matching the man's pace.
"Ok we have camp set up ahead come on we'll escort you."
With that they all followed them to a decent size camp with what looked another roughly six hundred ninja.
"Well make yourself at home eat, sleep and resupply." they all nodded and watched them all leave.
"Alright you three go eat and rest because tomorrow we head to see general Akatsuchi." Fuu said while turning to them.
"Right!"
With permission they ran toward the makeshift cafeteria to get some grub into their stomachs.
The War has begun and Wendy and the others have gotten a taste of what war really is. Will they all survive or will they die… stay tuned on the next episode of dragon… ahem I mean stay tuned for the next chapter.
