Chapter 12: Butterfly Effect

"It take's real planning to organize this kind of chaos."

Mel Odom

Thanks for all the Reviews and follow/favs guys, it really keeps me motivated. I decided to just post whatever I have done on whatever day I get off. That can be anywhere from once a week to once every two weeks. Lucky for both of us I got today off. Enjoy.

Hermione Granger wasn't having a good time but that wasn't anything new. She had been hoping that the reason she failed to connect to anyone her age was the recently discovered fact that she was a witch. Maybe with that in common she could make friends but with the kids on the train it didn't seem to be the case.

Some had been friendly at first until she tried to talk about magic with them. Then they got the same look all the kids in school used to get. She knew she could be a little over eager at times but she didn't understand why they didn't love learning as much as she did.

There was even one boy with slicked back blonde hair and two bodyguards who gave off a definite Nathaniel vibe. Just the memory of Nathaniel made her cringe.

He had made her life miserable , even more so the last year. To make it worse when she went to teachers they seem downright dismissive of the bullying. She was honestly beginning to think his parents might have bribed them or something.

"Granger, Hermione"

That broke her out of her trance. She made her way across the hall and spotted someone she never thought she'd see again and definitely not here.

"Cedric!"

XXXX

Well that was unexpected.

I chuckled at Hermione's literal jaw dropping reaction, then I waved and smirked.

She shook her head, blushing like mad while doing so. Then she continued to the stool. She sat down and then McGonagall put the hat on her.

The scene that followed was as long as it was comical. At first she sat there, then scrunched her face up. That was followed by her stamping her foot down multiple times.

"Fine, so be it. RAVENCLAW!"

What the fuck?

I didn't know what was going on. Sure it made things easier for her to be in Ravenclaw but I figured it would deviate the timeline too much to try to get her in.

After the Hat was removed she rushed over to the table with the other 1st years. She waved at me as she sat down and I waved back.

The rest of the sorting went as expected with everyone going to their cannon house. I had very seriously entertained the idea of confounding the hat to place Malfoy in Hufflepuff just for the shits and giggles but I decided not to.

After everyone was seated Dumbledore stood to give his speech.

"Now that the first year's sorting is out of the way, we have a bit of a rare occurrence this year. We have a third year transfer student that will be joining us."

In my year? Why does this seem like a cliche harem anime setup?

The door opened and all the eyes in the room turned to the sound. I bolted to my feet at the sight of her.

"What the fuck is she doing here?" I shouted out.

Fleur Delacour was not having a good day. She was having an even worse week. Her father was now dragging their family clear to this hellscape for some investigation of a missing rock or something. Now she had some English oaf shouting vulgarities at her. He was a handsome oaf but still an oaf.

"I beg your pardon"

"You're not supposed to be here. You're not supposed to be here…" He said mumbling while looking bewildered.

She was getting very upset at this.

"Iz it because I am French or Veela that I am not allowed here?" Her accent always got worse when she was upset.

Her scowl could melt steel.

"No what. No No No. I meant you're early."

"Mr. Diggory, Detention for a week. What has gotten into you? So rude to our guest." McGonagall said scowling.

"Professor that's not what I….."
"Mr. Diggory return to your seat."

"Yes professor." The oaf said before retaking his seat

"Ah yes, well as I was saying. Due to the temporary nature of her stay young Miss Delacour here will not be assigned a house. She will instead be given private quarters and will have classes that fit her schedule with all houses. So Miss Delacour given that, you can sit at any table you see fit." Dumbledore said, gesturing to the whole hall.

She took one look at the oaf and went to the farthest table from him, which turned out to be some house called Griffyn something or another.

"Well dig in everyone" Dumbledore said, doing just that.

She was just starting to look around at what to eat when the girl next to her spoke up.

"I'm really sorry about earlier, Cedric's not usually like that."

"Oh and I assume thiz Cedric is de oaf that was cursing earlier? What is he normally like, more of a raging lunatic?"

"No, I really don't know what came over him. He's usually quite nice. He even helped me out with some school work last year. And of course he's the youngest seeker in decades. We lost last year thanks to him." She said, not seeming that upset her house lost because of him.

Poor girl, done in by a pretty face. A pity that. Fleur thought to herself.

"Yes well, if you would excuz mi I would like to eat something. I'm famished."

"Oh of course go right ahead. I'm Angelina Johnson by the way. If you have any questions about Hogwarts, or just want some gossip, I'm your man. Or well girl." She said laughing at her gaff.

"Thank you I will keep that in mind."

"Cedric, wait up."

I turned around to see Hermione chasing after me.

"Hermione, right?"

"You remembered my name?" She said blushing.

"But of course, Milady. That and they announced it before your sorting" I said chuckling.

"Oh right" She said shaking her head "I can't believe you're a wizard too. What are the odds of us meeting before here?"

Pretty good, if the meeting was manufactured.

"Well I did think there was something special about you. Now I know why." I said with a charming smile.

She blushed and turned away.

"Well Hermione you better go." I said gesturing to the leaving first years. "They explain a few things you'll want to know on the trip to the common room. It was nice seeing you again."

"You too, and thanks again for helping me that day. No one else would." She said before darting off, the last part barely a whisper.
