Hachiman had completely forgotten about her mother arriving to Academy City on a business trip with all the events he had gotten himself involved into.
"Umm...Welcome?"
Mrs. Hikigaya sighed and folded her arms with disappointment.
"I had been waiting for a hour,Hachiman. Why didn't you pick up my calls?"
Poor Hachiman struggled to muster a response.
"W-well mother,my phone got damaged yesterday and was going to take it for repairs..."
She stopped him from explaining any further.
"I thought as much. Well, it's almost time for dinner so let's go out to eat alright? And I want to hear what's it like here. You rarely ever call us."
He asked her to wait a minute so he could change out of his school uniform and wear regular clothes.

Mrs. Hikigaya chose a fancy restaurant in a high-rise building overlooking the river.
Hachiman normally would get uncomfortable in such high-class places but he appreciated that his mother was offering him a treat,his father was fully obsessed with Komachi.
After giving their orders for dinner,Mrs. Hikigaya saw this as appropriate time to talk.
She went straight to the point.
"Why didn't you tell me that you got attacked by an esper?"
Hachiman almost spat out the water he took a sip from his glass.
