CONCLUSION

Hachiman and his Mother were deep in conversation by the time food arrived.

"You are coming home with me. You only have one week before summer vacations so I'll talk to your school."

Despite trying to maintain composure Hachiman voice did become strained.

"Mother,I'm fine really. Leaving Chiba is the best thing that happened to me."

That visibly surprised her.

"What do you mean? You got hurt and there are children with strange powers around. Why would you even want to stay when the school's off."

He slightly looked away and quietly muttered.

"Because I don't feel like a freak here."

"What?"

He directly looked at her in the eyes.

"What's so bad about my eyes that people find creepy. 'Normal' people are so fake that I can't stand it. At least people here leave me alone in peace."

She sighed and started again.

"I know your Father and I didn't spend time wich you much since we were busy at work but we do care about you,you know."

"Yet you have time for Komachi,huh"

"Hachiman!"

"Sorry,mother. I'm just...not looking to go home right now. My Home Teacher actually gave me an assignment relating to Literary work and I'm considering to see how it goes."

"Wait,you're interested in something outside science in this city?"

"It's not against the School rules."

She had never seen him putting up arguments before. He really seemed interested in staying here even though his Father had always told her their son would come running home on his own. Is he really starting to break away from them.

"It just...seems so soon that you've started to live on your own. Komachi really misses you."

"She has friends and a social life,mother. I'll come to visit sometime soon but I'll be here for a while. I can't keep hiding from people."

They had their meal and Mrs. Hikigaya understood that it would be hypocritical of her to press him to come home when they,especially his father always told him to solve his problems himself and not to bother them when they're busy.

After dinner as they left the building she quietly told him that she'll accept his decision and she would be returning home tomorrow.

It seemed like that was the end of that.
