CONSPIRACY?

The conversations went on and Hachiman picked a point to ask about secrecy behind the Imagine Breaker and if Touma was aware of it's significance.

"It is difficult to find any information about Imagine breaker outside the rumour mill. It's not even listed in Esper database. Do you know about it?"

Touma considered his questioned.

"No. Now I think about it,people outside my school often don't believe me when I cancel their ability. They angrily launch even fiercer attacks and I have to run for my life."

He slammed his arms and head on the table like he was trying to repress bad memory... or memories.

"And you don't think it's strange?"

Hachiman prodded him further and Touma got himself back up from the table.

"Now that I think about it..."

Hachiman sighed. This part of conversation would probably be cut out from publishing but he was curious.

"Do you feel some people are pulling behind the strings with how some abilities are kept a secret? Everyone in this city has to get past checkpoints and carry an ID. There are rumours of Human experiments and secret weapons."

There was silence on both sides.

"Ok. We're done here."

Touma did a double-take before he exclaimed.

"Huh?! Wait a minute! After asking this you are leaving it just like that?"

Hachiman simply picked up his notebook and got up from chair.

"It's obvious you didn't know or thought about it. It's going to get redacted most probably so don't worry about it."

Touma wouldn't relent.

"So you want us to do nothing? We'll have to look into it."

Hachiman who had stopped walking towards the door to leave stared back at him.

"You can do whatever you like. Sometimes one should accept he can't do anything and live for yourself."

He muttered under his breath.

"At least I can't."

He followed it by saying aloud.

"One shouldn't deal with powerful Espers or the weak get really hurt. Comparing oneself to them is a fool's errand."

His attitude and tune for some reason incensed Touma.

"Now look..!"

He was interrupted by a tired but still deep booming voice.

"Quite down!"

The curly haired senior the two boys had forgotten about during the interview slowly raised his head from the table.

Touma was surprised but Hachiman remained expressionless since he was used to see him like that.

He had droopy eyes but he was still able to direct a sharp stare at them.

"It's rude to disturb your senior especially when I'm the president of this club."

Slowly he got himself in upright position on his chair.

"Ah..."

Before Touma said something Hachiman spoke up.

"I apologise for my classmate's behaviour,Takashi-senpai."

Touma wanted to lash out for throwing him under the bus like that but was stopped when their senoir looked at Hachiman and continued.

"Well, now that I'm awake go get me that ' Black Coffee' you often drink,Hachiman."

Hachiman nodded and nudged Touma to move towards the door.

"Of course Takashi-senpai."

The boys went out the door and the senior placed his head back on the table and closed his eyes.

"Geez,what a pain."
